- I will call this one the "I have to say" review (can't believe how much I say it in this vid lol) So apologies about that.
This is the new Honda hornet 2023 750 , only had a quick blast but here is my first impression of it. ..

Thanks for watching
Just received mine today in black, extras include quick shifter, sports saddle and fly screen. I know looks are subjective but I personally love the look of it including the headlight shape and at 70 I’m no youngster. Looking forward to getting some miles in 🏍
That would be the colour I'd have ian, its definitely value for money, and I'm looking forward to a demo in the iom. Soon.
Glad to now your still riding at 70 mate, I’m 64 so got a bit to go to catch you up but I’ll be riding until I can’t get my leg over the seat anymore. Good choice of motorcycle by the way. Ride safe
Just ordered one, trading in my cbr600fac
@@derekmccracken9704 Nice, let us all know how well you get in with it mate!
Enjoy! I sat on one yesterday, could get feet flat. I'm 5ft 7" 68kg so perfect size for me. Is the sports seat just cosmetic or more comfy?
Its my next bike for sure
Videos do not do the looks of this bike justice. I saw it in the flesh the other day as it looks impressive, particularly in black. Honda onto the winner with this one. Nice video👍
I never liked the look of it when I used to see it on reviews etc but when I saw it close (the black one), I was very impressed and love how it looks. I sat on it but couldn’t get a test ride. I’m 6ft2 and when sat on it, didn’t feel cramped or anything. Need a test ride next and hopefully I’ll buy one.
Brilliant review
Thanks , yeah they look better in the flesh
755cc and engine is a totally new unit
Out of this and the TransAlp I prefer the the Alp because it has more wind protection. If I did get a Hornet I'd add a handlebar fairing.
The aftermarket SC can is a big improvement. I’d like to ride one back to back with a CBR1000 - twin or 4.
...great review, really injoyed it - I think, that you did a fair judgement on the bike. Personalky, I also moved away from over powerd 4 Cyl. bikes, enjoying the lightness of smaller poky 2 Cyl...on the German Motorway my last 4 Cyl. (GSX 1000 Katana) was a blast...but at the end I am riding 95% on back roads and there I think the Hornet is exactly in the sweet spot...can't wait to take it for a ride...
Cheap to buy and run, and looks loads of fun could be a winner Mr fish
You ain’t come up on my feed for a while, good to see ya
I like the back of this bike, very sporty cbr like. great frame, yes ugly light. But I would not care about that, great Honda! .Greatings from Belgium.
I rode this bike last Saturday , thought is was great fun. Handles great and quite a pokey motor. Considering getting one for the commute and as a runabout
Good first look video Mr Fish
My Suzuki GSX-S 1000 GT creates a lot of wind buffeting for me but when I ride my friend's Yamaha MT-09 SP, it feels much better in terms of wind noise and it's clean air hitting me. So I get what you mean. Great review!
The Hornet makes me think of my 500F only with double the HP. If I was a Harry Hormone teenager I would be tempted but I'm 70. The calmer machine is less tiring.
I like the look of almost everything on it. I'm digging the tank style language, except the headlight shape. In white it reminds me of a storm trooper helmet, because of extra pronounced bottom part. Other than that, the bike looks 👍.
Brilliant first impression that was more like review!
I like the over all look of it. It seems to be on the small side ,but I haven't seen one in person.
In the main you're probably right about IL4's, but my old KZ550 and my current CB1100's have lots of low end torque with no need to wring their necks. And they look like proper motorcycles compared to a lot of the modern designs. But I can be a stick in the mud regarding styling (not all are ugly mind you) but a lot of these new bikes could use a generous amount of Tupperware to cover up the engine and assorted plumbing. sigh
Agree about the CB1100, does look like a proper bike. One of my favourites.
Hi, I have ordered one so obviously, I like it. the test ride was amazing. I only wish it had a center stand?
I recommend the ABBA superbike stand for servicing, it is multi bike compatible with their fixing kits. Been using them for years👍👍
I’m in between the Honda hornet or mt 07
Which one would you go for?
Not too sure about the headlight on the hornet
But it look good but I would want it in black
With the red frame and shocks
We are just starting to get these in Aussie, all the hype is positive, But if I wanted one and couldn't wait for the neo retro version being old school I would have the forks out and repaint them, no a fan of darth vader head light and would get my angle grinder out and chop those silly wings of the tank. They say this bike was styled in Italy, surely not from the mob that designed the ducati 916 and numerous Ferraris, otherwise it looks like a good bike
Nice looking bike
I initially thought I’d made a mistake not seeing this hornet was on sale after only just buying a sv650. After seeing this review it sounds like a very good bike but doesn’t float my boat. I’m chuffed with my choice 😊
The SV650 is a very good bike. There isn’t really a bad choice out of the SV650 the hornet or the MT07. All three are good fun and will be as reliable as you could wish for. After riding the hornet though, it may have moved up a level on its immediate competition.
I'm of the same opinion about the dated styling and that generic Japanese headlight shape. Hopefully Honda do a Neo retro cb750r model now id be interested in that given the price of the Hornet twin.
ive been watching you for a while because I am 6ft 2 18stone. Now that you're 16 stone please tell me which bike did that?. Im looking for a new bike and I like eating so this information will be well received. Ta!.
Enjoyed that, just an opinion, but it might help if u keep the video under 20 minutes.
Demo coming soon, for the money it's good and in black best colour.
I prefer the look of this new incarnation compared to the original hornet. Like you I also love a twin. So much more usable power. Looking down from your on board shorts it looks like Bambi on steroids.
Great video as always & an informative review ✊🐟
I love how Honda can't be arsed to make matching rear seat cowl for white and silver color schemes. At least we have aftermarket ones from Ermax but still kinda frustrating coming from Honda
Like you, I'm a big fan of single and twin cylinder engines.
I own a Royal Enfield Himalayan and a BMW R1200r sport.
I prefer the power delivery, over an inline 4, much more linear, lower revving, less shouty!
I have to agree with you, apart from high end/high power sports and super naked bikes, as road bikes, I think the inline 4, has no real future, twin or maybe triple cylinder bikes will take over eventually (JMO).
The Hornet? Very nice bike, looks great in the White, Red and Black colour scheme,
especially with the aftermarket can!
I reckon, definately a popular bike in the future.
Top job, great channel, ride safe and have fun.
Grumps.
Call me old school, but I think the 20 year old styling of the Suzuki SV-650 is still better looking than the Hornet.
You can still use that clutch up and down
I see a lot of Hornets in Brazil.
Shame they arent offered in the USA.
It’s Great. Love the engine choice.
Have a ride on the Kawasaki RS 900 you might change your mind about a 4-cylinder. The Hornet is a budget bike with a budget price. Mt07 or this?
i also have a budget sv650 with 17 years of riding and still reliable as swiss watches used to be. If this budget means no fuss and reliability honda can count on me as client
Looks wise I found the original Hornets to be utilitarian and plain (a good thing)… and this is much the same. Less likely to date. But the waspy headlight… is sort of naff/parts bin. But if yr riding you don’t have to look at it.
Good video! How is it as a tall guy? I am 1m92cm. Will it not look like a pocket bike?😂
All bikes are like this are small when you’re tall 😂
@@Mrfish2015 True:-) and they keep making them smaller. Enjoy your weekend
The old 600 4 had 100hp !! Honda missed out here should have been special to better the competition, mind you great price.👍
This new Hornet actually makes the old Honda Hornet look good . I reckon it looks weird cheap & tacky ,although the younger riders will no doubt be impressed by the gimmicky idiot proof tech gadgets & transformer looks & think it’s cool . If I was given the choice between my old 2001 reg 600 naked Bandit I used to own ,& the new Hornet ,I would choose the Bandit every time. I will still give you a thumbs up as you can only review what’s in front of you 👍
dripping with condescension - imagine being able to appreciate a plethora of styles... Cheap, yes it is. tacky? nah. I loved my '94 600 Bandit, I loved my RGV250, I loved my '98 GSXR 600, my RE classic 500 and so on. I presume you choose to drive a 1973 Austin Alegro so as not to be impressed by the idiot proof tech gadgets & transformer looks. If so, all the power to you - that's your opinion and this is mine 😁
@@icedidi I don’t drive Austin allegros nor any car ,I am a motorcyclist . Also I do enjoy a plethora of styles but this Honda Hornet doesn’t happen to be one of them . I never said anyone wasn’t entitled to their opinion or had to agree with mine .
@@maskedavenger2578 I don't blame you, the Allegro, in fact many British cars of that era where awful 😫😊. Indeed, we all have opinions. Ride safe sir 🏍️👍
@@icedidi Back in the day my friends wife had a brand new Allegro ,it had a square steering wheel & like all BL cars of the day a biscuit tin with an engine in . I have owned several cars but never been into them ,I always preferred vans ,& mainly use taxis for formal or family suit wearing occasions ,I only use cars or vans when absolutely necessary these days & have others to drive them . I have always preferred to ride motorcycles . You ride safe too 👍
Great value bike, no doubt, but it’s not a Hornet, is it (not a straight four)? It’s called a Hornet but Honda should have devised a new name. Perhaps the CB650 should adopt a few changes like lots more torque in the middle, fly screen, q/shifter etc.
Nigel Fisher The Honda CB650R is a much nicer looking and sounding machine than the CB750 Hornet in my opinion.
I certainly wouldn’t disagree. The new Hornet has been built to nail the middleweight sector through economy of scale (it’s cheaper to build than a straight four). The only issue with the CB650F is the rather gutless torque in the middle of the Rev band. Great looking bike but give it more oomph lower in the revs.
@@nigelfisher3756 The CB650R is good because it is really docile and quiet driving in towns but if you open it up it becomes a beast.
Shame ditched the Nc engine ,for a new 750. As no DCT ?
Would be improved with a decent belly pan!
Not a fan of the headlight either, reminds me of the first gen CB1000R. Styling overall isn't great, old fashioned wavy disks, for example. A lot of bike for the money though, make an excellent fun value commuter.
Just borrowed that exact bike from Paul and did my own TH-cam review on my channel.
It's quite something, even moreso when you factor in the price 😮
I tried it to day and it definitely pulls really hard and smooth. It’s easy and smooth from a stand still til top of the rev range. I definitely didn’t need extra power at any point.
The look totally destroys it for me, it’s just not a bike you look at and drool over. It’s boring and meh looking unfortunately.
Honda CB650R looks and sounds so much nicer and only a couple of hundred quid more.
I don't mind the look either. I'm more for monotone accent colours like silver or black and then a singular primary colour for paint.
All companies over do red IMO like what Triumph previously did for the S Triple despite me loving those bikes. Mainly on the frame & such with the Black for most other parts.
I agree with the Triangle lights looking outdated but I still prefer it to the new Suzuki 8s, more than the KTM & more than the Yamaha MT type front also.
Maybe I just like it looking like a front headlight but not always necessarily round and retro like the CB650R.
Its a cold world 🌎 frozen blood or bloody cold world 🌍 no doubt
Don't think you gave the power and torque..fairly standard looking
the bars are narrow.needs replacement.and the seat too low
Why no bloody front mudguard. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Meh..... the exhaust is class though 👍👍
actually the original exhaust, tuned with two pipes, sounds about just as good wouldnt spend te money on this sc project one
oh look, a bike with design from 10 years ago!
jesus effin christ Honda, wayd???
Sorry, but it just looks generic to me. It's 4-stroke a parallel twin, to me one of the most boring configurations. Then again I haven't had a ride on the new Hornet, and the reviews have been very good. Also it is a Honda and no doubt will be super. reliable, with an affordable price tag.
I think the firing order of the engine is what gives it its unique nature.
I agree with you on the looks however.
Here in Australia we also only get the choice of black or white.
It’s interesting because it’s new….give it a few months…😴😴…..relegated to the Riding Schools because it’s cheap, not great to look at but reliable….backwards 2nd glancer?!…not a chance 🥴
90 HP $8,000 bikes in riding schools…you must have experience with different beginner schools than I’ve seen!😂
@@coyotebrown2294 that’s because I’m British and 6999 English pounds for a bike of this size and spec is pretty cheap…perfect for riding schools in the UK…assuming that with the name “Coyote” in your name title, then it may not be the same in Montana! 😆😆🙄👌😎
@@Tommy-Atkins no riding schools here are mainly just beginner classes running rebel 250’s or 300’s at best. I suppose with your license tier system would be different.
Coulda had an eleven hundred...😖...they dropped the ball...bad...
I have to say.. that's not half bad. Subbed. Drop me a view if you get a minute, constructive feedback always welcomed.
Oh look. Another parallel twin... 🙄
This bike just exudes cheapness. The frame looks like some bmx bike frame. Exhaust is stuck in 1990. The forks are the only good thing but they’re cheap too, just look the part. Yami will send this one to pasture too. Plus, Honda can’t get these to dealers anyways.
The MT07 is so much better 😂😂 Seriously, both this and the MT07 are decent bikes for their cost. I definitely wouldn’t rate the Yamaha any better built though and I have owned one since 2016
it sucks
