I'm wondering if any U.P. Big Boy fans know any news about 4014 that's being restored in Cheyenne, WY. As you can see on my face picture I'm a C.Z. silver sky fan too. This is a sweet production, keep it going buddy.

Athearn makes s great model and Tsunami make a great sound decoder especially the primemovers ,but still no leds and the horns not that great.maybe some day. Thanks for the review James.

This may be your best product review yet, great work. As far as the model goes, I'll stick to my Overlands. Athearn can't hold a candle to OMI in quality and detail
Great review, does the NS have ditch lights in the back?I will be getting the UP first. I like the 2 radiators better then the 4. I hope NS come out with the 2, then I will get one.
Is the Norfolk southern unit for sale? I had a sd70ace stolen and I am missing my second locomotive with sound. I only got one now. And this loco would be great

You tested Athearn and Overland. At first I thought you had an Athearn supplied by Overland but later I was confused. My question is who makes this SD70M for Overland? As you can tell I am confused but think I would want the model you have from Overland.
This is an older locomotive in terms of the prototype. They came out around 2002. This is the first time the model has been produced outside of brass though.
Graham Mck Currently that's a tricky question. Right now the most modern locomotives on the road would be the GE Es44AC "Gevo" and the EMD Sd70ACe (an upgraded version of the SD70m). However, The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has new standards out that prevent GE and EMD from producing these locomotives, GE has a new locomotive ready to be released but EMD has nothing. If you are more curious about the new locomotive look up GE tier 4 evolution series locomotive.

WOW that detail is amazing. Athern did a great job on the SD70M.
I like that NS one. I wouldn't mind picking on up and putting a TCS WOWdiesel in.
That is what I ended up doing. I cancelled my sound unit and have a non-sound unit reserved for when it comes in.

Very nice review. Even though I'm primarily an NS modeler, I'm going with the UP model on this run. Will add LEDs and Loksound.
Nice video I like the review on the UP I also have two of these units in that road #4873 and 4921 both have sound and PTC antennas

Athearn does intentionally spray radiator grills so they look weathered. I have a few engines with the same effect.
