Sonic Adventure has one of my favorite OSTs ever. It was a transitional period for the series where the character designs and series sound were shifting, so its got a blend of OG style Sonic music and the musical direction that the series would stick with through 2006. This particular track only plays in like that 25% of the stage, its wild.
Another track from SA1 that gets absolutely no recognition is Be Cool, Be Wild, Be Groovy One of the sickest tracks I've ever heard in a video game Here's hoping you do that one someday, it's so sick
Sonic has great upbeat music but the experimental stuff and not regular "poppy" music is where it really shines. Can't wait for more adventure music on here!
Takes place on an active volcano. The inside tunnels gradually fill up with lava as you traverse. There are some funky prisons there. There are pipes and steam machinery, also steam geysers erupting. On the sides of the mountain you use ziplines and short-flight vertical rockets to move between peaks and up them. Many mobs here have spikes and metal armor. Its very much an aggressive level aesthetically, although it does not necessarily provide any super aggressive or cruel mechanics. A sort of "edge of the blade" feel.
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO THINKS THE BEGINNING SOUNDS LIKE A CYPRESS HILL SONG. I knew you couldn't steer me wrong Jesse, lol. Sonic Adventure has an extremely diverse soundtrack, so I can't wait for you to hear more from it specifically. SA1 has some big stages that are often segmented into multiple areas with different tracks for each. Red Mountain is the stage, but this song plays for the second and last part of the level, when you go down inside the mountain and enter this fiery, magma filled area. The first song for Red Mountain sounds COMPLETELY different to this, other than a slight leitmotif between themes. It just so happens that almost all the videos I send you don't have composer credit in the description, but this game had three main composers: Jun Senoue, Fumie Kumatani, and Kenichi Tokoi. The first theme for Red Mountain is composed by Kenichi Tokoi, but this track was composed by Jun Senoue, who's been working on Sonic music since Sonic 3 and is one of the two members of Crush 40.
theres a video with all the adventure 1&2 samples, lot's of old hip-hop & rap, except for originals like E.G.G.M.A.N. that was sung by Shortino from Quiet Riot
3:17 It was Jun Senoue who was the lead composer for the series from the late 90s all the way up until the mid 2000s, and he still makes music for the series to this day He's also the guitarist in Crush 40, a band mostly known for making Sonic Music (I'm sure you've reacted to some of their songs by now, they made Live & Learn) This game specifically came out way back in 1998, and it's got such a 90s vibe to it, definitely one of my favorite sonic games, especially in terms of it's soundtrack
The first 8 seconds make me think a lot about "Insane in the brain", "How i could just kill a man" and "Break'em off some" of Cypress hill. This is typically the style of early Cypress Hill
I don't think Sonic Adventure has a single miss in its entire OST. Like I could rapid fire off like 40 tracks worth listening too, and those are just the ones I remember the name of. Here for the sonic and pokemon, keep it up
Red Mountain is the name of the stage, and it is, in fact, a volcano! This song plays when you go inside Red Mountain in the second half of the stage, where there's also some skulls and other spookiness - So, spot-on.
this section of the level always scared me as a kid. especially the ghost prisoners behind bars. and oddly the shaking tombstones in the area. combined with this heavy track.
This was always a song and stage that kind of creeped me out when I was very little, but then ended up becoming a regular in my day-to-day listening later in life. Some music can be appreciated when you're little (obvious ones like Open Your Heart, Live and Learn, What I'm Made Of, etc.), but some songs really need a bit of life experience to enhance the flavor of it.
You will love mechanical resonance for sure, I would just sit around all day looking at Mecha and metal sonic while jamming to it. Probably my favorite theme song in sonic adventure.
These tracks are really special man, You can never know what to expect and this one has an insane vibe between the aggression and complete disregard of musical convention at times. Would love to here a lot more of these heavier tracks from both sonic adventure games
as a kid love the song and game, as an adult musician who also gets really involved in the production aspect, dude this track is crazy. Such an insane concept of a song
I could come down with alzheimers one day and this OST would STILL remind me of specific moments in my early childhood sitting in front of the ol' CRT TV
This track went SOOOOOOOOO HARDD YO. I remember I had to just take my hand off the controller like nahhh they didn't do this man. Sonic always been nasty with the music. Fantastic listen man. Glad to see you had a good to time with it!
Also, by the way: Most newer Sonic games have official uploads of their music, which were auto-uploaded, based on soundtrack uploads on a different platform. They are usually on one of TH-cam's "Topic channels" simply called "Topic: SEGA" or "Topic:
During the Adventure Era, most of the music was done by Jun Senoue but with additional music being done by Fumie Kumatani, Kenichi Tokoi, and Masaru Setsumaru. But for this track it's Jun.
Sonic Adventure 1, 1998, was resident Sega rock composer Jun Senoue's first gig as lead composer/lead guitarist and it REALLY shows. It has that feel of the nervous excitement and giddiness of someone who was given his first chance to commercialize his own art project entirely and it's basically his love letter to all the music that ever excited him, just in case he never got the chance to do it again. He pulled out all the stops to do as many genres as possible and fill them with as many riffs, counterpoints, leads, instruments, etc as humanly possible. He didn't even care about always matching the speed or feel of the level, just doing something new at every turn. That's why it's my favorite Sonic soundtrack, because it has that personality, and the most diversity and best instrumentals in the series. I don't think he ever matched up to this one again but all his soundtracks up to Shadow the Hedgehog still were carried well, I mean even Shadow had him experimenting with some new stuff like detuned guitars, effected leads, even a purposely more lo fidelity sound to make it grittier. At 14 this was my favorite game soundtrack. Seminal in my start to music which is when I first started drum lessons
There's another theme (the main one) for this stage called "Mt. Red - Symbol of Thrill...for Red Mountain" which is a very different style, and I hope someone requests it at some point, because it's most people's favourite of the two. Though of course both tracks try to do different things! =D
There are plenty of fantastic tracks from sonic adventure, adventure 2 and sonic heroes(and shadow the hedgehog). All these games came out around the year 2000 so there is tons of that 90s rock feel left in it before it started picking up the more orchestral stuff in the 2010's. Which is still great.
Jun Senoue was the composer from the Late 90sbTo Mid 2000s(Specifically in the 2006 year was the last time he really made music for Sonic Games…and yes the last game he did was Sonic 06….so that’s a good ending way to finish off of being a Composer for one of Segas biggest Video Game IPs for 8-9 years straight
6:21 I don't think the quality sounding lower was 100% intentional. I'm pretty sure part of the reason is that this video is from DeoxysPrime. His videos typically are lower quality and sometimes sound muffled as well.
@@GameMaster0097 that's fair, they're quite old. I figured this was passable though considering the song, so I submitted this link I could have done a blackblur upload for true crunch lolol
Im not sure if someone's pointed it out yet, but this song heavily samples the song Ghetto Red Hot by Super Cat (the Hip Hop remix specifically), honestly its crazy but cool to know that a Sonic song was already dipping into the Hip Hop/RnB scene even before Knuckle's level themes in SA2
The "Ahh!" voice in this song always reminds me of an impression of Elmo you heard in an edgy parody recording you downloaded off Napster in the late 90s. Very specific, I know.

Black Knight has a lot more than just Knight of the Wind. Misty Lake, Deep Woods, Titanic Plains, Molten Mine, Sir Percival, Great Megalith, Dragon's Lair, The Battle Menu, Fight The Knight, Through The Fire, With Me, Live Life, and more. All So Good

they're in the list so EVENTUALLY
none of the sonic adventure 2 songs stand out ot me, but 1 and heroes were amazing as kid anyway

Yeah huge L, SA2 is by far the best 3D Sonic OST IMO. (Personally still prefer Sonic 2, 3 & Knuckles and Mania though)

Lava and prisoners.
