The architect who designed my custom house included a lot of hidden and special features to keep the austere aesthetic and preserve the clean lines throughout the many spaces. Check out a few of these hidden features!

Honestly I bought three last year (one for the home and two for the studio) and it makes watching films a lot more epic! (Also great for backdrops in the studio).

Joey had the escape to Mount Fuji series, Connor has Wacky Weekends and Chris promised 'Taken for Granted' in 2022 .....which has yet to happen. I mean the guy just got married to Sydney, so he's busy I guess. Risottoro and Natsuki are regulars. It's always interesting to see the different chemistries Chris has with each person. Would love to see Chris take Dogen on a trip. Wonder what kind of chemistry they'd have? Will the latter constantly correct and shade Chris's Japanese pronunciation while he sulks?

Such a cool house, but I'm more impressed that Dogen has become so fluent in English. He's really come a long way.
I think I can confidently say that he is now officially Eigo Jouzu.
He sounds more formal than I would ever and I'm native English.
Finally! A non-tech youtuber that actually does his cable management. I mean considering how clean and minimal the house is, I expect Dogen to do his cable management well.

Genius ideas for a lot of the items you showed in this video. I would have never thought of that chalk board or the drying hanger next to the onsen. I'm sitting here taking notes for if I ever get a house. Absolutely love your home!

There's cool man. Sometimes I get down about living in Japan (homesickness) and you help me remember why I fell in love with Japan. I'm looking forward to building a house in the countryside here soon.

Your family's collaboration with the architect was genius!! I'm over here crying real tears at the possibility that the clutter I see all around me can disappear into the walls. I am so happy for you and your family. Magic is definitely in the details
How much is "magic" and how much is "make it fit"? I see all those same techniques used in tiny houses, and for the same reasons. Without the "magic" they'd be literally too small for two humans to feasibly occupy. Dogen's house would be intolerably cramped without the extensive modifications he insisted on.

don't read beyond this sentence until 28/05/2043 . 5th house video out take : and from this console i can activate the anti gravity feature , so i can lift the house up to 35 m from the ground . this makes it very convenient if we want to live in other location

That theater lamp is so cool! Also props to your wife (and possibly others) on keeping your house as spotless as when you gave the first tour
Japanese can be very tidy
One of the best benefits of minimal clutter (or just a minimal amount of things), is that cleaning is much quicker & easier.
You can live in a cluttered house which is certainly dustier and much harder to keep clean…. Or live minimally and spend a few minutes every day maintaining a pristine environment…. Plus, your space feels MUCH larger without crap everywhere.

You probably wouldn't be able to use that specific model in Europe anyway, since it only fits into a Japanese ceiling light socket.
@@4473021 the fact that Europe has 240V and Japan has 110-125V is a much bigger problem than the physical socket.
There are loads of projectors available in the UK and across Europe, just about finding the right one for you :)
@@fermitupoupon1754 most transformers for electronic devices can handle both voltages, in the rare case it doesn't, just buy a proper one separately :D
@@fermitupoupon1754 Japan has 100V, but for anything which is not a heater or an electric motor the device will typically accept anything between 100V-240V these days.

Hi Dogen - please be careful with the Roomba! My family had one that we used on our beautiful wooden floors (like yours!) and it left permanent scratches. I wouldn’t want your wonderful new home to be scratched like that!

This is by far the most gorgeous house I’ve ever seen. I always dream about owning a kominka or machiya so that I could live in a place with the beautiful ye olde Japanese aesthetic, but seeing this makes me want to own a modern traditional house now! Awesome, I love how those details are there but one normally doesn't see them, a practical way to facilitate life without wasting space.

Do you get anxious about the ceiling and doors?? You are pretty close to hit your head on every door and even some parts of the ceiling... I would not be comfortable living like that tbh, I'm pretty tall (1.94m) and have experienced things like that before and it drove me crazy xD

Wow, I live in a 55 year old Japanese home, it’s beautiful but I’m 6’1” and spend a lot of time with ice packs! That’s one impressive house, congrats. Roomba, projector light, pantry - just wow!
As if I couldn't have fallen in love with your house any more than I already did. The tiles in the garden are a wonderful way to honour her grandfather and the work that he did.
And all the hidden features ♥ Wish I had the money to build, I would be adding in a few of these to any house that I wouild have built.

I have chalkboard in my kitchen as well, i used chalkboardpaint and painted the wall of the kitchen! Quick and easy to write things down.

Its really a beautiful house. I don't know how much i would like living in it (The geometry of it seems sort of suffocating, but maybe that is just the video) but the amount of thought and craftmanship that goes into it is beautiful.

This is easily one of the best house design I have ever seen.
Wow. That storage space above the ladder looks really cozy. I'd love to make something like that my sleeping space.
The cable management is awesome ! I really love your home and what you've done with the patio. Personally, I would have taken the guest room as the parents room instead. It enables the room next to your daughters one to be a guest room and a play room as well. Maybe I think that way because I don't have children and I find cool too that you guys are next to eachother. The architects really did a good job and it's the hidden features (or details) that make the house even more comfy.

House goals!
I do like the architecture, but it's not the ideal house I'd want to live in personally. What I do want a lot however, is a home with this level of thought, personality, and design put into it. As a designer I really appreciate all these touches, and if I were able to work with a designer who specialised in houses (an architect), that would be a dream come true. Truly a dream home you've got yourself.
