The fact that it is even POSSIBLE to sink tons of money into the Prize Machine only to have all of your progress reset the next day is downright evil. I think that the Poke Balls spent with gems should be a special variant that removes the daily reset for whatever item it was thrown at.
I think that after a certain amount of attempt it should be free, especially when gems are used. Maybe keeping track of how many pokeball s were bought to get a free 10 points ball. I get that everything is based on chance but there should be some reward for at least trying to use the feature

I think this would be the perfect solution. Because even though whenever you are spending real money you should always research exactly what it is you are buying and read the “fine print”. What makes it feel scammy is the fact that you can spend money for nothing in exchange. You are essentially donating money.
Absolutely a scam. The good prizes are inpossible for f2p and heavily luck based for paid players. Super easy fix is making it take more days for the gauges to reset or to either make the balls recharge faster or let more be stored at a time
This system makes me glad I just bought the battle pass back then, why are they putting in those old skins instead of designing a line especially made for this machine. To me this just feels like ur spending more then the people who got them in the pass and it’s wrong.

There are other ways of making it other than a slot machine, which is inherently predatory. On top of that they could have done a better job at explaining the mechanics better. Although I do have to say at this point if people still spend money on gacha games then they really need to be more responsible with their money.
I've been playing this game since season 1 they added new updates and the game was pretty much balanced in game tickets weren't a joke and they weren't making a joke out of people with such events...they completely stopped respecting the player base and are basically trolling us people are angry!!
I still have some holowears from these events, that's why i always wanted sometimes these events come back, and yet some people on the comments still goes at my comment just to say (iTs juSt a skIn) fr its not only about that but about how they respect the f2p players.
To me the real issue the adding more stuff in the game without fixing their servers so the game won't crash, too many extra currencies we have but don't have nothing to spend on without adding extra items/holowear to spend tickets.

I first saw it and was like "wow they're actually doing something nice for everyone!" Then realized if you're f2p you're just gonna get boost emblems. They fumbled hard af. I'm not even opening it up and throwing the balls, this is just a blatant slap to the face and should never happen again.

Also wanna point out that I'm not some f2p crybaby, I buy the new pokemon day 1, buy every battlepass, and some cool cosmetics here and there. But this event is a slap to the face for f2p and people who spend.
My biggest issue is the Prize Machine feels extremely in bad faith. I did the math on the chance to get the rewards without reducing cooldown on the first day, if something was worth 3 points, you would immediately go to a 34% chance just for a single 2-pointer to show up. On the first the lowest valued item as 9 points for a portrait background, which has a 0.1% chance with 2 pokeballs because it is more likely for you to roll 1 10-pointer than 2 5-pointers. (Edit: you can't even guarantee an emblem even if you optimized to get 4 pokeballs in one rotation) To me this was never intended to give anybody a bit of charity, it just a way for another way to obscure greed and to milk more money out of people who open their wallet at any opportunity to spend money. I would be a whole lot more fine with the situation if they just put a price tag on the items and called it a day.
Well said I really hate that it resets especially in the case for people who already spent money while being a bit misleading No one gets anything out of it unless they spend a lot of money (to the point where many prizes end up being more expensive than the most expensive holowears in the shop) and what's worse is that a good amount of people who already spent money that didn't go all the way basically just wasted money

It wouldn't be too bad if the prizes didn't reset every day. However, unless you get really lucky and get all 10s, you HAVE to spend 20+ dollars on the prize machine if you want something from it. The best way this could be salvaged in some way is if they had you gain balls doing daily missions and the prizes reset weekly. Also imo the odds need to be slightly increased. At the end of the day it's just a massive letdown. Something that could have been cool ended up like... this.
I think the fact that not only is it misleading, but that misleadingness of it can lead to spending upwards of fifty dollars and getting NOTHING definitely classifies it as predatory.

The prize machine is an exact representation of the games new director. The very first thing it does seems genuinely nice, the free blissy emblem and the way the director said they would never force people to buy skins with gemlocked releases, and then it turns out it's just drug dealer tactics giving the first hit free. This is a disgusting direction for the game to go in and they aren't even trying to hide it.
Things were bad even before the new director came around. I don't think it has anything to do with him, if anything it could be TPC wanting all the money I think.

What I don't get is why a pre battle background that lags and you only see for about 30 seconds to a minute is $10 more expensive than a legendary skin that you see whenever you see that pokemon. Why?
It's absolutely impressing how EVERY SINGLE FREAKING event on this cursed game has a lot of RNG involved or some kind of locked up progress in general. You start the event already getting yourself a calculator and trying to figure out if it's even possible for you to achieve a certain price. The recent events come up with tons of speculations, such as the Eevee puzzle boxes. This company truly loves to make this game a gatcha machine, unfortunately
Jake, I can appreciate that as a content creator (and as a fan of the game), its not right to 100% say monetization is scummy. Buuuut, you have to admit that between the current state of the meta, the changes to the start of the ranked season, matchmaking, etc PLUS the $40 pricetags on pure cosmetics that the game is in a rough place at best and on its way out the door at worst. If TiMi/tencent truly cared about player morale and brand approval they would've balanced the meta more, fixed bugs and issues in the game earlier, and lowered their monetization so f2p players are spending the price of a new console game for a cosmetic skin on ONE pokemon. They don't care about the morale of its users, they've made it clear their focus is to suck as much $$ out of their whales as they can before the game dies out.

This is a perfect illustration of how consumer protections are like 30 years behind technology. Buying gems and using them to throw pokeballs at something is a form of gambling. These sort of transactions have just sort of snuck up on us and become "normal" when it really shouldn't be.
The developers have became so so greedy. Earlier if u had a license already and exchanged the puzzle pieces for same they used to give u coins , but they are giving aeos tickets . A BIG SCAM ...people put their time and effort in these events and all they get is scammed.

I didn't expect them to have a really low cooldown... but at the very least allow players to complete challenges/missions to reduce the cool down. That way people could grind or pay. The fact that they make people pay 120 gems for just the opportunity to potentially get something is insane to me as well.

I was very hopeful when I just started playing unite seeing that I could luck out and get the coolest skin in the game (at the time) for free which was the Talon one, and I have. Seeing the Garchomp stakeout skin get added to energy rewards was also really cool too, it made me think they would continuously add skins you can get for free but now I have a ton of holo tickets idk what to do with. 😬
if what the stats shown by unite for every throw at 3:14 is correct then the expected point for every throw is around 1.4, so for 40 points: total 29 throws ->25*120 = 3000 gems 30 points: total 22 throws ->18*120 = 2160 gems 15 points: total 11 throws-> 7*120 = 840 gems 9 points: total 6 throws-> 2*120 = 240 gems the fact that mobile games or gacha style games all do it should not be a measure for this being a normal practice, giving you a sense of half progress on items you want in game and generating a sense of using real money to complete that progress is where i would draw the line for monetization but having everything reset, even the paid pokeballs is a very high level of predatory practice imo.
I think it's very scammy due to it reseting in particular (while being absurd in price/chance to get in the first place as well but I wouldn't consider those predatory/scammy since buying something such as with a very high price label is at least straight forward and you'd actuallyget something). The biggest issue that I have with it is that people who spend on it and don't go all the way basically just wasted money getting nothing with it also being misleading to a good amount of people to where it received backlash. It ends up being more expensive than the most expensive holowears in the shop to actually get the prizes on average. If it didn't reset (at least for the people who spent money) it'd at least be fine as opposed to taking people's money to give them nothing unless they spend a silly amount of money relative to their holowear prices/merchandise and going all the way in one day
I thought it would be like how they brought back the Pirate Cinderace and Space Gengar holowear for those who missed the battle passes. Now that was great because I think all you had to do is collect stuff to get them easily. Now in come this prize machine with it's predatory setup. And I don't believe ppl missed when it said the prizes would reset. It's literally a way to get whales to spend on it. I understand the game needs money to survive but dang. Thought the store holowear, BP, memberships and gem locks were enough.
It's no doubt a scam in my view. Resetting the progress is not great and if people want the Holowear, they should compromise to have till a month to get them.
I planned to get the emblems only because the number is not big and I always knew the skins is impossible. But It just goes back to 0 after choosing that exact "prize" you want, and I didn't bother to open the "prize machine" again and pretend it didn't exist.

I did notice the notes that the prize changes daily and that the gauge will reset along with it the first time I use it. Then I noticed that the chance are very small, and that you can only throw 4 balls a day. That's when I decided to ignore that machine as it only makes me sad.
Would be a nice system if the amount of pokeballs didn't reset on the item, or that f2p players could get the skins (I really would like that Sylveon skin) but its so expensive that its better to wait for a cool skin and get the battle pass instead of that thing
I feel like this could become the new gachapon system, at least for items and not emblems. Just change the pokeballs into the energy reward and make the items reset once a week and bam, affordable but still profitable system.
I haven't even accessed it since like the 3rd day. I have no chance of getting the Eevee background, which is the only thing I don't already have, and I figure maybe not accessing the page at all is the best way to "protest"
Excuse me, did you say u started with 5k gems? And ended with 2k gems? .......that isn't healthy at all 😭 and to say the community recently defended the game against the pay to win conspiracy that was around a while back and then they do this and has been starving us from free pokemon and good events. It also said when the prize changed, but I got back the same prize when it rotated, so technically, the prize didn't change, but the gauge still reset .
Probably the worst thing about this prize system is that they make you THINK you can get stuff for free but realistically you're not getting anything without spending gems.
I was super excited when I read through the update, then as I realized how it actually worked… resigned myself to never getting anything out of it. But I mean, at least the gold Chansey was a thing. I hate it, but not a _total_ loss, I suppose. If they didn’t reset the gauges on each rotation I’d be way more happy with it. The option to pay in would be there, but you could still actually use if you didn’t want to or couldn’t pay.

I haven't drawn a single price yet... I already have all the skins, the frame etc (bcs battle pass) and therefore I only need the coins, but bruh... At first I thought to myself "that's a cool idea" but only until I noticed the next morning that my progress was reseted. The chance of getting one price is lower than well... anything that happens outside the game 💀💀💀
To be fair this game is one of the least predatory free games I looked at recently. You can clearly play it for free and the only problem is that you can't unlock all the pokémons you could want. The cosmetics are super expensive yes, but they don't really matter and you can enjoy the game just fine without them. If you buy them it's cause you choose to, so don't get pressured into buying it, the same way you would not buy the most expensive cloths irl if you are not rich. As for this machine, I just take it as free emblems so it's better than nothing and menu background is really not that important with how little time I spend in main menu.

Like I wrote on twitter, this is basically a reverse loot box. The idea that you know what you want, but it all depends on how much you want to literally throw at it. Now if the gem cojst was fewer, you could hit the higher rolls more often or you could get both throws back rather than one at a time, then maybe it could be a touch more toerable, but to spend $50 on just the card itself? Now that is just all kinds of stupid. People think spending $20 on a skin in Overwatch is bad? Unite might have actually taken the cake away from them on that.
one way i would ''fix'' this would be just to not reset the gauges. they daily switch up with items is fine. then u wont be able to throw all of the balls to one thing but still get a sligtly higer chance to get the item u want. resetting the gauges is just straight up evil. sure they have to make money but this is not the way to do so
Haven’t played unite in a while, but it’s interesting to see this is what they are doing next, adding an actual gacha. The thing t at makes unite better than other f2p games is that you don’t have to spend a dime to get a new character, unlike most gacha that have you do so. In return, the game gets its money from other means, and this is what they have decided to do, which honestly surprises me that they lasted this long without adding a proper gacha. As none of the items in it are required at all, it really is probably made for those with disposable income or “whales”. Though if they wanted this to look better or appeal to f2p players, they should let you lock down on 1 item to not get changed during resets, so you can keep at it. On one hand it lets you keep working at it for free, but on the other hand it prevents you from trying to get any other thing the gacha might have that you want cause now you are trying to work towards one specific thing. It nah not be the most fair, but this is probably something they could do to make it seem more “fair”.
Honestly, one of the worst "event" designs i ever seen on a game, once you figure out how it works it SCREAMS scam! As a F2p player, it's not worth even opening this menu, even for the emblems! You can get emblems easily with the Aos energy reactor thing (Sorry, forgoth the name of it) without the anxiety and annoyances of having to plan your whole day to throw the second pair of balls before the rotation, and even then, having the chance of miss.
They should also add good rewards for events aswell 20 - 40 tickets and a time limited skin or hat and bag??? Seriously (most of them are available to players already)
I had the same experience as most people, the moment I realized the gauge resets the next day I don't even bother to open it again. Even if you're not a F2P player, the prize machine would still be a losing game
There was a pose that I REALLY wanted from the prize machine, and the gauge was 10. I thought it would be relatively easy. Turns out just to full 3 spaces on the gauge, its a 3.3 PERCENT CHANCE. Absolutely impossible, they never fail to dissapoint us.
If they'd release more holowear more often and reduce the prices, I'd 100% spend 30$ for a t5 skin, but it being like 50 dollars is just a bit ridiculous.
Saw a comment on another video that someone had spent 400-something gems and was 5/40 on a prize not realizing it would reset. That's a whole season pass wasted, and they probably need to spend at least $20 if they don't want it to be wasted. There's a lot of uninformed people in the game and to scam them like that is almost criminal.

I'm an absol main who joined the game right after season 2 and there is nothing in the game i want more that dark suit absol. When I saw that this sytem brought back old battle pass holowear I was hopeful I would finally get a chance to get it. I know it would be impossible to get without spending money, but would've willing to spend a couple hundred gems on resets in order to get it. That was until i did some vague math and realise how truly expensive this machine was (and this was before this video told me that you had to pay for each reset individually). 3000 gems is far more than anyone would realistically have to spend on a normal battle pass holowear. What i think is the biggest problem is that pokemon unite is a game that is much more targeted at kids due to its branding. It's one thing to slap a $60 price tag on a holowear in the store, but this system puts random numbers on a progress bar and has a relatively low cost on the reset. Kids are gonna see the number go up and think that 120 gems is not a lot to bring it higher, until they run out of gems and then have all that progress be wiped the next day. It's such an easy way to trick kids into spending their aeos gems and then have it be wasted. If grown adults cant even figure out how the thing works right away them kids definately wont. The best fix I can think of is have the prize pools change every week and lineups every day, then have the gauges change at the end of the week with the prize pool. Theoretically that's 28 throws a week but it's impossible to get 4 throws every day since the reset is 12 hours and 2 resets would be 24. Still, that at least gives you a sense of progression, and you'll be able to look at your gauges at the end of the week and decide if it's worth it to spend gems on the remaining cost. That's just my immediate, uneducated suggestion though, im sure there are far better solutions, but point is, this system needs to be a lot more friendly to kids who are more likely to play this game compared to other mobass
I was a bit excited about this, but alas I fell for the same hype as many. I suppose it is just cosmetics in the end, even if the realization it is impossible to get anything but emblems I already have still hurt.
It says prize lineup for so many days so my first thought was they reset when the prize lineup changes because even for me when the prizes change they don't actually change they are all the same maybe the emblem will change just like everything else in this game they made it to trick people into spending gems if you notice you can spend gems in the store to buy tickets if you need to now when you try to buy something with gems and you don't have enough it says you need more gems when you buy something with tickets and you don't have enough it doesn't stop you it says you're going to spend gems to buy the rest of the tickets but it says a bunch of stuff everytime you spend tickets so you stop paying attention until one day you realize you have been slowly losing gems somehow

Honestly, they should just have it save your progress. You just keep at it until you unlock the item or until the event ends. If the event ends, you just pick up where you left off next time it comes around
Winning the actual lottery has better chances then getting some holowear in this game. Like Wow; the odds are better. The devs knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they tuned this.
What im seeing from this and recent updates is that pokemon unite is trying to convince more players into buying the unite membership. like you would get gems daily meaning you get more throws with the prize machine. Not to mention that replays normaly can only be saved for a hour unless you have membership, with membership you can save them forever.
The battle pass is like 10 dollars for the Sylveon and greninja holowear, the clothes, trainer card bg and frame plus way more and if you missed out on it and for some reason really want all those things you have to pay like 100+ dollars?!? The mark up is insane....

I think they should find a way to reward long term free to play players, as someone whose been a free to play player since season 1. If they want people to keep playing on the long term they should reward players for playing on the long term. Maybe you can get a legendary skin if youve been playing for 1 year. Sky Children has something similar called Traveling Spirits, where if you keep playing the game you will be rewarded with a returning spirit.
I misunderstood it thinking it was saying you have a low percentage chance to get the 40s for each low number hit and it gets higher in chance the higher number you get. Wasted every hit so far unfortunately. Thank you for explaining

Its a scam, its designed specifically to prey on people who dont understand how the system works and to milk as much money as possible from people with gambling addictions. I basically only play Pikachu and I wasn't playing at the time that Band Style: Pikachu was available and I've REALLY wanted that skin ever since I started playing. it came up in my prize machine, ended up spending $35 to get it and I'm totally ok with that, considering that the most expensive skins in the shop are ~$40. I got about 26-28 1's 4-5 2's and a single 3 in rolling for it. I also waited until I had 2 free rolls to start off with and I got the double bonus of buying gems for the first time at two price points. Looking at the prize pool there is literally nothing else I want and I do think that the boost emblems need to be at 4. Having got the 1 thing I want I probably wont even look at the prize machine again.
I thinks it’s fair to say we’re approximating predatory. Anyone would have fainted seeing the battle pass model of today’s games and yet they find another way to make a lower bar. It really makes a stronger case for the exploitation narrative vs. devs putting food on the table.

The fact that it is even POSSIBLE to sink tons of money into the Prize Machine only to have all of your progress reset the next day is downright evil. I think that the Poke Balls spent with gems should be a special variant that removes the daily reset for whatever item it was thrown at.

I think that after a certain amount of attempt it should be free, especially when gems are used. Maybe keeping track of how many pokeball s were bought to get a free 10 points ball. I get that everything is based on chance but there should be some reward for at least trying to use the feature

I think this would be the perfect solution. Because even though whenever you are spending real money you should always research exactly what it is you are buying and read the “fine print”. What makes it feel scammy is the fact that you can spend money for nothing in exchange. You are essentially donating money.

Absolutely a scam. The good prizes are inpossible for f2p and heavily luck based for paid players. Super easy fix is making it take more days for the gauges to reset or to either make the balls recharge faster or let more be stored at a time

There are other ways of making it other than a slot machine, which is inherently predatory. On top of that they could have done a better job at explaining the mechanics better. I've been playing this game since season 1 they added new updates and the game was pretty much balanced in game tickets weren't a joke and they weren't making a joke out of people with such events...they completely stopped respecting the player base and are basically trolling us people are angry!!
I still have some holowears from these events, that's why i always wanted sometimes these events come back, and yet some people on the comments still goes at my comment just to say (iTs juSt a skIn) fr its not only about that but about how they respect the f2p players.
To me the real issue the adding more stuff in the game without fixing their servers so the game won't crash, too many extra currencies we have but don't have nothing to spend on without adding extra items/holowear to spend tickets.

Also wanna point out that I'm not some f2p crybaby, I buy the new pokemon day 1, buy every battlepass, and some cool cosmetics here and there. But this event is a slap to the face for f2p and people who spend.
My biggest issue is the Prize Machine feels extremely in bad faith. I did the math on the chance to get the rewards without reducing cooldown on the first day, if something was worth 3 points, you would immediately go to a 34% chance just for a single 2-pointer to show up. On the first the lowest valued item as 9 points for a portrait background, which has a 0.1% chance with 2 pokeballs because it is more likely for you to roll 1 10-pointer than 2 5-pointers. (Edit: you can't even guarantee an emblem even if you optimized to get 4 pokeballs in one rotation)
To me this was never intended to give anybody a bit of charity, it just a way for another way to obscure greed and to milk more money out of people who open their wallet at any opportunity to spend money. I would be a whole lot more fine with the situation if they just put a price tag on the items and called it a day.

It wouldn't be too bad if the prizes didn't reset every day. However, unless you get really lucky and get all 10s, you HAVE to spend 20+ dollars on the prize machine if you want something from it. The best way this could be salvaged in some way is if they had you gain balls doing daily missions and the prizes reset weekly. Also imo the odds need to be slightly increased.
At the end of the day it's just a massive letdown. Something that could have been cool ended up like... this.

The prize machine is an exact representation of the games new director. The very first thing it does seems genuinely nice, the free blissy emblem and the way the director said they would never force people to buy skins with gemlocked releases, and then it turns out it's just drug dealer tactics giving the first hit free. This is a disgusting direction for the game to go in and they aren't even trying to hide it.
Things were bad even before the new director came around. I don't think it has anything to do with him, if anything it could be TPC wanting all the money I think.

Jake, I can appreciate that as a content creator (and as a fan of the game), its not right to 100% say monetization is scummy. Buuuut, you have to admit that between the current state of the meta, the changes to the start of the ranked season, matchmaking, etc PLUS the $40 pricetags on pure cosmetics that the game is in a rough place at best and on its way out the door at worst. If TiMi/tencent truly cared about player morale and brand approval they would've balanced the meta more, fixed bugs and issues in the game earlier, and lowered their monetization so f2p players are spending the price of a new console game for a cosmetic skin on ONE pokemon. They don't care about the morale of its users, they've made it clear their focus is to suck as much $$ out of their whales as they can before the game dies out.

This is a perfect illustration of how consumer protections are like 30 years behind technology. Buying gems and using them to throw pokeballs at something is a form of gambling. These sort of transactions have just sort of snuck up on us and become "normal" when it really shouldn't be.

I was very hopeful when I just started playing unite seeing that I could luck out and get the coolest skin in the game (at the time) for free which was the Talon one, and I have. Seeing the Garchomp stakeout skin get added to energy rewards was also really cool too, it made me think they would continuously add skins you can get for free but now I have a ton of holo tickets idk what to do with. 😬
if what the stats shown by unite for every throw at 3:14 is correct then the expected point for every throw is around 1.4, so for
40 points: total 29 throws ->25*120 = 3000 gems
30 points: total 22 throws ->18*120 = 2160 gems
15 points: total 11 throws-> 7*120 = 840 gems
9 points: total 6 throws-> 2*120 = 240 gems
the fact that mobile games or gacha style games all do it should not be a measure for this being a normal practice, giving you a sense of half progress on items you want in game and generating a sense of using real money to complete that progress is where i would draw the line for monetization but having everything reset, even the paid pokeballs is a very high level of predatory practice imo.
I think it's very scammy due to it reseting in particular (while being absurd in price/chance to get in the first place as well but I wouldn't consider those predatory/scammy since buying something such as with a very high price label is at least straight forward and you'd actuallyget something).

I did notice the notes that the prize changes daily and that the gauge will reset along with it the first time I use it. Then I noticed that the chance are very small, and that you can only throw 4 balls a day. That's when I decided to ignore that machine as it only makes me sad.
Would be a nice system if the amount of pokeballs didn't reset on the item, or that f2p players could get the skins (I really would like that Sylveon skin) but its so expensive that its better to wait for a cool skin and get the battle pass instead of that thing

I was super excited when I read through the update, then as I realized how it actually worked… resigned myself to never getting anything out of it. But I mean, at least the gold Chansey was a thing. I hate it, but not a _total_ loss, I suppose. If they didn’t reset the gauges on each rotation I’d be way more happy with it. The option to pay in would be there, but you could still actually use if you didn’t want to or couldn’t pay.

To be fair this game is one of the least predatory free games I looked at recently. You can clearly play it for free and the only problem is that you can't unlock all the pokémons you could want. The cosmetics are super expensive yes, but they don't really matter and you can enjoy the game just fine without them. If you buy them it's cause you choose to, so don't get pressured into buying it, the same way you would not buy the most expensive cloths irl if you are not rich.
As for this machine, I just take it as free emblems so it's better than nothing and menu background is really not that important with how little time I spend in main menu.

Like I wrote on twitter, this is basically a reverse loot box. The idea that you know what you want, but it all depends on how much you want to literally throw at it. Now if the gem cojst was fewer, you could hit the higher rolls more often or you could get both throws back rather than one at a time, then maybe it could be a touch more toerable, but to spend $50 on just the card itself? Now that is just all kinds of stupid. People think spending $20 on a skin in Overwatch is bad? Unite might have actually taken the cake away from them on that.

one way i would ''fix'' this would be just to not reset the gauges. they daily switch up with items is fine. then u wont be able to throw all of the balls to one thing but still get a sligtly higer chance to get the item u want. resetting the gauges is just straight up evil. sure they have to make money but this is not the way to do so
If it had manual resets(maybe capped at one per day) instead of automatic resets, it would fix the main problem here.
Haven’t played unite in a while, but it’s interesting to see this is what they are doing next, adding an actual gacha. The thing t at makes unite better than other f2p games is that you don’t have to spend a dime to get a new character, unlike most gacha that have you do so. In return, the game gets its money from other means, and this is what they have decided to do, which honestly surprises me that they lasted this long without adding a proper gacha. As none of the items in it are required at all, it really is probably made for those with disposable income or “whales”.
Though if they wanted this to look better or appeal to f2p players, they should let you lock down on 1 item to not get changed during resets, so you can keep at it. On one hand it lets you keep working at it for free, but on the other hand it prevents you from trying to get any other thing the gacha might have that you want cause now you are trying to work towards one specific thing. It nah not be the most fair, but this is probably something they could do to make it seem more “fair”.

As a F2p player, it's not worth even opening this menu, even for the emblems! You can get emblems easily with the Aos energy reactor thing (Sorry, forgoth the name of it) without the anxiety and annoyances of having to plan your whole day to throw the second pair of balls before the rotation, and even then, having the chance of miss.
They should also add good rewards for events aswell

There was a pose that I REALLY wanted from the prize machine, and the gauge was 10. I thought it would be relatively easy. Turns out just to full 3 spaces on the gauge, its a 3.3 PERCENT CHANCE. Absolutely impossible, they never fail to dissapoint us.
If they'd release more holowear more often and reduce the prices, I'd 100% spend 30$ for a t5 skin, but it being like 50 dollars is just a bit ridiculous.
Saw a comment on another video that someone had spent 400-something gems and was 5/40 on a prize not realizing it would reset. That's a whole season pass wasted, and they probably need to spend at least $20 if they don't want it to be wasted. There's a lot of uninformed people in the game and to scam them like that is almost criminal.

I'm an absol main who joined the game right after season 2 and there is nothing in the game i want more that dark suit absol. When I saw that this sytem brought back old battle pass holowear I was hopeful I would finally get a chance to get it. I know it would be impossible to get without spending money, but would've willing to spend a couple hundred gems on resets in order to get it. That was until i did some vague math and realise how truly expensive this machine was (and this was before this video told me that you had to pay for each reset individually). 3000 gems is far more than anyone would realistically have to spend on a normal battle pass holowear.
What i think is the biggest problem is that pokemon unite is a game that is much more targeted at kids due to its branding. It's one thing to slap a $60 price tag on a holowear in the store, but this system puts random numbers on a progress bar and has a relatively low cost on the reset. Kids are gonna see the number go up and think that 120 gems is not a lot to bring it higher, until they run out of gems and then have all that progress be wiped the next day. It's such an easy way to trick kids into spending their aeos gems and then have it be wasted. If grown adults cant even figure out how the thing works right away them kids definately wont. The best fix I can think of is have the prize pools change every week and lineups every day, then have the gauges change at the end of the week with the prize pool. Theoretically that's 28 throws a week but it's impossible to get 4 throws every day since the reset is 12 hours and 2 resets would be 24. Still, that at least gives you a sense of progression, and you'll be able to look at your gauges at the end of the week and decide if it's worth it to spend gems on the remaining cost. That's just my immediate, uneducated suggestion though, im sure there are far better solutions, but point is, this system needs to be a lot more friendly to kids who are more likely to play this game compared to other mobass

to think about it at the very start this game was kinda friendly and fun and enjoyable, but sooner became cash grabing, we all have hollow tickets and fashion tickets in our game bag i place my bets they not gonna do ANYTHING about it since this is the way it goes now yes, yes we gotten enough of clothes and its time to make some cash some how, okay right i get that but plz make a exchanging system to get coins or tickets i can't be the only one that is hoplessly holding on to these stuff wanting it to just go away i brought all the 10k cost coin pokemon by just being free to play for month and days and a whole two years, but for a free to play player you are not gonna have a good time i have one new account and you can know getting pokemon to buy is not that simple its a lot of grinding of time

Honestly, they should just have it save your progress. You just keep at it until you unlock the item or until the event ends. If the event ends, you just pick up where you left off next time it comes around
Winning the actual lottery has better chances then getting some holowear in this game. Like Wow; the odds are better. The devs knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they tuned this.
What im seeing from this and recent updates is that pokemon unite is trying to convince more players into buying the unite membership.
like you would get gems daily meaning you get more throws with the prize machine.
Not to mention that replays normaly can only be saved for a hour unless you have membership, with membership you can save them forever.

The battle pass is like 10 dollars for the Sylveon and greninja holowear, the clothes, trainer card bg and frame plus way more and if you missed out on it and for some reason really want all those things you have to pay like 100+ dollars?!? The mark up is insane....
I was excited at first, i saw the sylveon holowear and i reallt wanted it, im a free to play player so i taught that was neat, i do think they should've explained the reset thing, its a big bummer
But it does make me wonder, does it mean old holowear can and could come back? Like Delphox's for example, if it does and it is something similar, sorry pokemon unite, as much as i love Delphox and its holowear, i will not pay for it this way
I think they should find a way to reward long term free to play players, as someone whose been a free to play player since season 1.
If they want people to keep playing on the long term they should reward players for playing on the long term.
Maybe you can get a legendary skin if youve been playing for 1 year.
Sky Children has something similar called Traveling Spirits, where if you keep playing the game you will be rewarded with a returning spirit.
I misunderstood it thinking it was saying you have a low percentage chance to get the 40s for each low number hit and it gets higher in chance the higher number you get. Wasted every hit so far unfortunately. Thank you for explaining

Just found this video after sinking 12 balls into a 40 cost skin netting 20 points of progress.
I am beyond ticked that the progress resets.
Its a scam, its designed specifically to prey on people who dont understand how the system works and to milk as much money as possible from people with gambling addictions.
Its malicious in its design and i dont think we should forgive it just because it could be worse because if people think this is acceptable they might just make it worse and more predatory
So the long and short of this is that it’s better to pay regular price than to waste your money on a chance machine
I basically only play Pikachu and I wasn't playing at the time that Band Style: Pikachu was available and I've REALLY wanted that skin ever since I started playing. it came up in my prize machine, ended up spending $35 to get it and I'm totally ok with that, considering that the most expensive skins in the shop are ~$40. I got about 26-28 1's 4-5 2's and a single 3 in rolling for it. I also waited until I had 2 free rolls to start off with and I got the double bonus of buying gems for the first time at two price points.
Looking at the prize pool there is literally nothing else I want and I do think that the boost emblems need to be at 4. Having got the 1 thing I want I probably wont even look at the prize machine again.

I thinks it’s fair to say we’re approximating predatory. Anyone would have fainted seeing the battle pass model of today’s games and yet they find another way to make a lower bar. It really makes a stronger case for the exploitation narrative vs. devs putting food on the table.
