If AJ can close the ring off and stay tight, he's in. He cannot be gun shy. Usyk will be on his bike, he can potentially take AJ on a wild goose chase with his feints, particularly with the feet, if he can catch AJ in the early rounds with anything significant, he'll have established the threat of a trap that will dictate the entire fight. That will be bad news for Joshua, but can Usyk catch AJ hard enough to create that threat? I'm sceptical. AJ's backfoot boxing is underrated IMO, he steps awkward pyramids, his fundamentals are of a decent amateur pedigree, he is well schooled. Usyk is obviously decent, although I'll keep my thoughts to myself on the cruiserweight division. I think his name gets thrown in with Loma due to the connection, but for me, Usyk is far from unsolveable. I think this is gonna be a fight based on timing, I don't mean cadence within combinations, more in the sense of 'fight when your opponent is resting and resting when your opponent is fighting'. I believe both will gas if the fight goes to around the midway point. For me, Usyk loses that battle. I'm gonna hang my nuts out there, Usyk is not genuine heavyweight stock, he's having a pop at the big prize in the twilight of his career and props to him. AJ stops him, ninth round.

If AJ can close the ring off and stay tight, he's in. He cannot be gun shy. Usyk will be on his bike, he can potentially take AJ on a wild goose chase with his feints, particularly with the feet, if he can catch AJ in the early rounds with anything significant, he'll have established the threat of a trap that will dictate the entire fight. That will be bad news for Joshua, but can Usyk catch AJ hard enough to create that threat? I'm sceptical. AJ's backfoot boxing is underrated IMO, he steps awkward pyramids, his fundamentals are of a decent amateur pedigree, he is well schooled. Usyk is obviously decent, although I'll keep my thoughts to myself on the cruiserweight division. I think his name gets thrown in with Loma due to the connection, but for me, Usyk is far from unsolveable.
I think this is gonna be a fight based on timing, I don't mean cadence within combinations, more in the sense of 'fight when your opponent is resting and resting when your opponent is fighting'. I believe both will gas if the fight goes to around the midway point.
For me, Usyk loses that battle.

usyk with speed may win most early rounds but aj's heavier punches will slow him (particularly if he lands to the body) so aj will win more later rds - aj by close decision
