2:17 I use that tactic too, fully extending poles out horizontally to gain as much defensive space as possible.

See all that space off-piste? That's where I ski. Average 12,000-15,000 vert meters/day. Sometimes I'm forced to treat the tourists as unpredictable moving race gates & that's fun too - improves your speed & technique. 😜

Tip #11 stay home during peak holidays. It is better on weekdays.

No.1 tip don't wear a helmet. Helmets take away the feel of air pressure on your head from an approaching skier behind you. And those ear pieces, whilst good at transmitting most sound frequencies, have been shown to cut down the frequency equating to the scraping of ski edges on icy snow. Active safety, avoiding an accident, beats passive safety, protective devices, every day of the week.

      “Don’t wear a helmet”
Not going to listen to anything you recommend!

Helmets are essential, no matter how proficient you are.
They not only minimize the impact if you fall and hit your head on ice, a snow machine, or another skier, but they also provide crucial protection in everyday situations-on chairlifts, gondolas, ski lockers, and even in crowded access areas leading to restaurants.
I've lost count of how many times my helmet has saved my head and eyebrows from other people's skis, poles, and general lack of awareness.
      Always wear a helmet.
