    We lived in Bryson City for 21 years until recently. I was hoping you would talk to the owners of the Filling Station deli. They are so nice. And the food is great. The train depot is where parts of the Fugitive with Harrison Ford were filmed. We were there watching. We used to walk at Deep Creek regularly. We used to take the train to Nantahala about 7-8 times per year until the McNeils got older and sold it. The parking used to be free, no advertising on the train and there was a free Christmas train every year for the locals. It is totally changed now, but still scenic. Thank you for the vlog and the memories. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

      Can anyone see my post? I always post nice comments about you guys because we lived there for 21 years. I used to get tons of likes and questions and comments from people but now it is like no one at all can see my posts. Thanks for any help. 😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐

    When we were trying to decide where to buy up there, we were having a difficult time deciding between the Bryson City area (slower and calmer) and the Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg area. We chose the later because we found a wonderful condo which was on a hill with a great view, and has only 8 in the group. Bryson City are is a wonderful area. I feel the same way about being over rushing waters. My favorite.

      Peter Kober if you take the train, make sure you take the one that goes to Nantahala. The other one is not as scenic. 🙂

    Found lots of gems in small stream, emerald's, rubies, garnets. My daughter has a little draw string bag (was for gold nugget chewing gum) full of gems that took only about fifteen minutes to find in stream (where I'll keep a secret, so maybe I can let my grandkids find themselves a drawstring bag too, after chewing all of the gum.)

    Beautiful hike to those falls!! Just visited there a couple years ago and also tubed there on Deep Creek. It's a good one but I think a little more intense in some places than where we go in Townsend to tube. Gorgeous area though, we stayed in a cabin right up the road. ~Dawn

      las vegs trip stoker only about 30 miles, but going through the park from Cherokee can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on traffic. This time of year depends on snow and wheather the park is closed. 🙂

    • @RachelSmith-vm2jt
      @RachelSmith-vm2jt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hour 1/2 at most. Go through the Park on 441 into Cherokee. Not far from that point.

    Did you happen to feel how cold the water at Deep Creek was? When I was a young kid they used to pull water from deep creek to fill our local rec. Park pool. Opening day at the pool the water was so cold it was always almost impossible for your body to get accustomed to the temperature of the water. Great memories thank you for sharing your video of my beautiful home town. God bless you and your family
