- Respect. While we enjoy fire belching, high horsepower builds just as much as the next guy, there's some serious respect for a guy who can whip a car with sub-200 horsepower too. This home built, 13 years owned Datsun 510 show us that you don't need power to party - just commitment and a solid build. Just like Burnyard hero Nick Gomez (aka @auto_motives) demonstrates here.

Didn't hurt me, actually made me laugh cuz his laugh was started to get really fkn annoying. He had the most generic annoying sounding laugh lmfaoo... His build is nice but he definitely needs to upgrade to forced induction of some sort whether it's turbo or supercharger. This car will absolutely rip then. Even tho he's ripping with it NA it would shred turbo'd.

Yeah, especially when I saw he broke that clear tail light lens... Hard to find. :/ Awesome display though. That's why I love drifting, it's less about the car (power, build, etc.) and more about the driver. 0 f's given, 0 excuses accepted. ;D

We should all appreciate how he's done all that without a hydraulic E brake, just clutch kicking.
Yeah man i was a maniac in my 75 280 . If you are going the right speed and drop clutch at idle speed it works as well as an e brake then just mash gas .
Yeah you are the only person i seen on here mention that. No matter what it does make it more difficult with no hydraulic E brake just all clutch kicks. But then again that car weight is nothing really so that does help a lot to make it easier to slide.
and no e brake in general! it's kinda scary pushing hard when you're not sure you can stop. I still have drum brakes in the back if it. lol

Mad respect to this guy and his build! This is exactly what I like to see on daily transmission just a down to earth cool dude who built his car from the ground up with home grown parts and put together from the heart. Sucks to see it get bashed in but that's all part of the fun 🤟🤟

Man how times have changed, I remember when you could find the four door 510 for next to nothing in the mid to late 80's now those cars are fetching like three to four times what they went for in fair to good condition gotta luv those Japanese cars they are awesome
@Dirtyd23 you can thank Chris foresberg for that I remember when I was looking into the wagons in the early 2000s you could get an sr20 swapped one for around 3500 now rollers cost that much. I always wanted an mk1/2 escort but thanks to block those are upsurd expensive too
Man 4 doors and wagons were basically free. Now they don't even exist up here.

This just proves like you dont need 1000hp to have some fun dont get me wrong i like a lot of power is a lot of cars but these are so small and light you dont need it plus i bet its more reliable. It is very tastefully modified I do like it its cool
Joshua Slater 😂 if you’re turning the vehicle more than you’re siding that’s not fun at all and isn’t drifting. Drifting is turning with angle, not going around a corner as if you’re going to work. This is literally a regular day of driving in my drift car trying 100% to go straight on my way to work and back. If you can’t get a decent amount of angle it can’t drift.

Great build, show these young bucks how it used to be with having to source parts from other cars to make something custom. Love that he built his own coilovers and did most of the fab work himself. Can we get more builds like this?

I love 510s. It's super nice to see a car that doesn't have 1000hp these days. Nowadays it's all about that high number but you can still have a huge blast with less that 300.

Definitely more under 200hp projects please! :D I'm probably in a minority, but I love cars which are able to make a feint dirt dropping e-brake supported clutch kicking drift because otherwise you hardly make them slide. Great video and really cool car ;-) Underpowered drifting is really awesome.
