When you get the tyre spinning, the friction between the tyre and the tarmac superheats the rubber to as much as 400 degrees (though this does depend on the length of the burnout). This melts the rubber tread, vapourising the chemicals and oil within it, sending these molecules into the air. The vapourised molecules then cool quickly and condense in the air, becoming the visible white ‘smoke’ you see - it’s actually more like steam than smoke though, A burnout is basically making clouds 😊

When drifting really took off, there was a lot of mocking of the "no replacement for displacement" saying - but I'll be damned if times haven't changed! In no one's wildest dreams would they expect their to be so many pushrods in drifting circa 2019!
He'd be right there with them. They're all pro drifters and I'm sure James or Piotr could chuck some drifts under the trailer too had they been at the burn yard and not the shop. Bj is a pretty insane pilot too.
