A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine - distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man - but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Peter, who could easily cave Tony's chest in with a flick, only became intimidated once Normal-Man Tony stepped out of the armor. Nothing without the suit indeed.
I think it's cool to have a young spidey who doesn't have everything in control because he's just a kid often being clouded by emotions and trying to cope with it all isn't easy. Plus Tony didn't really made him aware of the danger he was facing and tried to just keep him out so there's that aswell. In retrospect considering the whole arc they had in plans for him I think it's a really enjoyable interpretation of the character.
As opposed to what? He never had anything in control in any of the movies.
@darkopz I mean it as a response to those who complain about this interpretation of Peter Parker being a "super immature" guy. I grew up on Tobey's Spider-Man but I love how they were able to give more depth to Tom's character and show more of his social life.
Well.. this also because he has other super heros in his verse. Tobey and Andrew are "alone" as far as they've shown in their movies. Meaning they dont have time to play the immature role.
@@Marf69Marf69 and they were older in their movies. No teenager behaviours at all. Also, by the end of No Way Home, Tom 's Peter actually became truly alone, with no family, friends, or a girlfriend.
@@Marf69Marf69 exactly! They were the solo superhero in their universes.
Also from a writer perspective - Raimi and Webb didn't know for sure they would get sequels for the first movies. MCU writers knew they would get to spread out through the franchise.
What I like about Tom’s Spider-Man is that he shows imperfection, fear, improvisation and heart.
... Just like the others?

7:08 the switch up from celebrating from Spiderman to Ironman is crazy
It’s actually symbolic. The reason Spider-Man was 98% successful was because the human clapped and idolized him rather than putting their faith into God and Christ.

@ could you clarify for me please?
How fast them fans change up on you. LOL
Tom Holland teenager spiderman trilogy always did something stupid to pissed me off but in the end he fix the problems, that's why I love it so much.
Thank you. So annoyed by all the nostalgia fans claiming Tobey Spidey would have done it all perfectly.
Tobey’s my favorite but I can’t deny Tom was also great. I’m not crazy about the movies he was in due to the actual filmmaking being sub par but Tom gave a great performance
There's a great call back that some people miss. Peter says he's nothing without the suit, Tony says he shouldnt have it if he's nothing without out.
Call back from when Cap said to Tony "...take that off and what are you?" Tony replies "Genius, billionaire, playboy..." Tony always saw the suit as an extension of him and his genius, he made the suit, the suit didn't make him. He wanted Peter to realize the same thing.
That’s why I don’t like this MCU Spider-Man. Remember the Raimi trilogy and Webb duology? Where Peter Parker’s strength of character mattered, not his suit (that was for fanboys to argue about)?
lol - except spider man didn't make his suit
I mean, that was kind of the whole arc in Iron Man 3. its why the kid called him the mechanic and kept calling the suit Iron Man. Its why he blew up his suits and the last words of the movie were "*I* am Iron Man."
@@EricGraham94 No. That is the point of this film. That he learns that he can be a hero without it..... if you hate him because of that line, that is on you, for not realizing the movie agrees and has the character change in the way you are asking for. Remember, the end? He doesn't have the suit!!
@@Luka1180 I’m also criticizing MCU Spider-Man for it not truly being Spider-Man movies. Somehow it’s dependent on Tony Stark or the Spider-Man villains that came before the MCU.

It's funny that despite Peter's strength, he's afraid of Tony when he gets out of the suit 😅
Well he's not trying to kill the man, this version of Spiderman probably would have gotten a run for his money though
Apart of the massive utterly respect Peter has for Tony, if for some reason Tony is in danger without the suit remember he controls the suit remotely and if for some reason he couldn't, F.R.I.D.A.Y. would already jump in his defense implementing all sort of counterattack moves. One of Tony's biggest strengths is planning and implementing things in ahead of situations, just like Batman.

"Who do you think called the FBI"
Hmm... maybe, just maybe, if he gave Spiderman a heads up on this, it would've worked out differently...
At this point, with the suit, the airport fight and everything, Spiderman's on the inner circle, just about... this isn't the time to be 'coy' about what Ironman will or won't do when giving Spiderman info on something that is soooo close to him... 'stay out of it' or 'i'll handle it' isn't enough... ironman of course has the authority, but I definitely think Spiderman is entitled to a small description of how... think it's a parent thing, where Ironman wanted to protect Spiderman, but at the same time, didn't seem to completely understand him, the vagueness from Ironman gave Spiderman the impression that Ironman didn't have all the information, when he did, at least everything Spiderman knew at that point... Spiderman just wanted to help, and Ironman was ironically naïve in this sense that he assumed Spiderman would absolutely stay out of it... in the end of course, Spiderman did know more than Ironman, which is also a representation of Ironman's arrogance about what he thought he knew... considering the plot of this whole movie was that Ironman didn't understand the plight of those he thought he was trying to help, and the desperation in some sense of what they would go to, to just live, and of course, get back at him... Ironman's ego, maybe more, arrogance, actually seems to be one of the biggest Villains in this movie... along with the vulture of course, he became an arms dealer, doesn't get off the hook, no matter how desperate...
Or maybe, and hear me out, if Peter had NOT LIED when Happy and Tony did call him, things would've gone better.

This is ultimately the problem of the boomer generation thinking "do what I tell you because I told you so".
Rather than just explaining "Okay, I'm gonna call the FBI and get them working on this" he was more concerned that Peter Parker disobeyed him.
@@trikstari7687 still, Peter isn't blameless, either. E had his own communication issues and _chose_ to disobey Tony. So it's mostly his own fault.
At least Tony realized on his own what his problem was: he acknowledged he was repeating his father's generation gap mistakes when he made the video call. Peter didn't admit fault until getting yelled at.

This was the one time in a marvel movie I was genuinely kind of upset up to the point of this movie releasing. It made plot sense, and it was a good teaching moment, but at the same time, Tony could have and should have told Peter he was listening. Instead he wasn't the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist we know and love, and made the simple mistake of not acknowledging his mentee's concerns and giving him the impression that he just simply didn't care about him. I still loved the movie, and think it played out well, just... it didn't really feel natural and smooth with how we know Tony to be, normally.

Tobey’s Spider-Man would’ve saved the ferry
Nuh uh,and stop glazing,i love both spideys
He actually could believe it or not. He has more web fluids than both Andrew and Tom combined because his is natural production, meaning they are ALSO MUCH stronger webbing than the synthetic version. Coupled with the fact, a moving train is far harder to stop than a boat sinking. Which tom couldnt succeed on. Boat weights more, but has water to hold most of the weight. Where as a moving train does not have any form of resistance to help Tobey. Spider webbing is 5 times stronger than steel and can absorb 3 times the energy of kevlar. Tobey's webs are practically a new welded piece of steel bar attached to the ship.
And we KNOW Tobey's spidey is stronger than Tom's spidey as shown in No Way Home. Tom was going all out on green goblin in the end scene, Tobey's spidey, while being calm, stopped an angered emotional driven spidey, who we've seen in the comics absolutely demolish King Pin. (Not the same spidey but you can get the idea of an angry spidey.)
Iron Man was an asshole in this. (More than the others)
All he had to do was tell Spider-Man what he was doing. Instead he just kept saying stay out of it & making it seem like he wasnt listening or going to do anything about it.
Spider-Man saved those people (yes he also put them in danger) before Iron Man got there. The ship would've sunk before Iron Man got there.

Had the fbi just popped up he wouldn’t have gotten an advance warning and probably would have been arrested when he went to go check why no one was responding on comms
@@matthall7359 yup. That's why when the Feds revealed themselves, they were on multiple levels. One or two up above would've kept watching for anymore passengers turning out to be gang members.
