What if Len Bias didn't die two days after being drafted by the Boston Celtics? How would the NBA potentially look today? Let's take a swing at figuring out the impossible. - กีฬา

Sorry for the poor quality of footage in this vid, not a lot of choices when dealing with college basketball in the 80s.
Anyways, in this vid I talk about how the NBA could've looked if Len Bias didn't die in three periods; immediately after he was drafted, the 90s, and today.
What do you think it would've looked like if he lived?

Do you think Boston would've still ended up with Reggie Lewis the following year since he was a late first-round pickf
yo you have sick profile oic
Nate Young probably
Dom2k I hate the Celtics but had Len Bias not die and Reggie Lewis not die, I'm sure the bulls wouldn't have won all those championships in the 90s.
Sell any since the video?
Bias death caused the only large period in NBA history where Celtics where not competitive (`90s)
dionysis e and 2000s. Celtics were only good the last 3 years
Mannycity Bank O You must of forgot about Boston's big 3 with Pierce, Allen, and Garnett lmao
Celtics were also not good until they got Bill Russell in 1957
Reggie Lewis
Thank you Edward Brewer for mentioning Reggie. Those two deaths messed the Celtics up. Note that those two loses came 6 years apart.
My history teacher used Len Bias as a way to show us that drugs can destroy your potential.
Adriel. mine did too
Wade County right 😂
He could have used the entire cocaine era of American sports ala David Thompson and Dock Ellis.
omg, i almost thought you were talking about the rival in some of the mycareers.
Sean Sanders Jr. Nigga what?
You could convince me how you could've made it to the NBA
Lmao

Dom coming in clutch with that quality content 💯
Yeah. Great video Dom

The Celtics would've won at least 2-3 more championships. Larry would've played until 1995 and retire as the greatest of all time. Len would give Jordan a real run, and even steal one or two titles in the early 90's from Jordan. This in turn would have made Jordan try even harder. He would not retire in '94. We'd probably see Bulls winning 3-7 championships from from the early 90's to 2000. MJ would retire as the greatest, but only slightly ahead of Larry, and he wouldn't have come back for the wizards, but instead stayed on the Bulls until somwhere between 2000-2003. Len would go down as top 3 with Bird and Jordan, Lebron before Lebron.
The butterfly effect would be so far reaching and seemingly random, at this point everything would be different. I'm pretty sure Boston would have gotten great players coming over (like Shaq going there to play with Len Bias to give Jordan a run instead of the Lakers... Hakeem still doesn't get the respect he deserves. It's fun to think of the possibilities. Let's play this out in 2K.
As a celtics fan i could only imagine...... Instead of 17 banners hanging up in the rafters we could of had upwards of 20. Len Bias has to be one of the biggest what ifs in NBA history
Ryan Dupont I agree. Him and D Rose are the 2 biggest what ifs
Pickle Rick respect the Hakeem nod..
Bird as already been quoted as saying if Bias lived he would’ve retired in 88 so your comment isn’t fact based at all
@@cbz4050 gotta add Grant Hill to that list.
RIP Len Bias 🙏🏽
Rich Homie Squirtle why did he go get high he had big future ahead of him
@@tylerriley2587 getting to the nba is tough man, i would've done the same thing..
@Carlos Duncan celebration dumbass
Dom2k is my city and if it weren't for him then youtube would be shitty
CoolMonkeyz I think quavo should take his mask off
CoolMonkeyz I'll pass it to Korzemba 'cause you know he stay litty!!!

The Celtics were 67-15, had just won the NBA title, and made themselves better in the offseason (with the addition of Len Bias). That lasted about two days. Bias and Jordan would've been rivals for a decade and a half in the Eastern Conference. Instead, once Magic Johnson & Larry Bird retired, Jordan had the league all to himself.
Nailed it.
Something that should also be discussed: I'm thinking if Bias doesn't die, Jordan doesn't retire in '93. A big reason why he did was that he didn't have any competition in the top. Now assuming that Bias pans out how we expect him to, we could see more full years of Jordan. Anyway, great video Dom, really thought-provoking
Raf Betting is what forced Jordan to retire, look it up. And if it ain't that, Jordan said his father's death inspired him to play the sport his father always wanted him to play
Brandon Polo that's why I say part of. That was something that contributed. (If my memory serves) I saw in an interview somewhere where Jordan talked to Phil Jackson after Jordan's dad died, and they tried to list challenges that he had not done in the NBA. They couldn't find any. Now, you're right in that another big part was his dad dying, but I feel like something that made it easier for him to leave was the fact that he was out of challenges
If Bias lives, there's a real chance that the Bulls don't get Scottie Pippen or Horace Grant in the next draft, because of the butterfly effect.
Losing Drazen Petrovic was right up there as well, considering how amazing his game level was at when he passed
Watch the 30 for 30 it's so tragic
I've seen a thousand dom2k vids but the intro beat never gets old. That beat straight fire 🔥🔥
George Bell
Lil Boy AKA Laylow - Traffic is the name of the intro beat if you didn't already know.
I cant find it anywhere.
MrCramos27 same
Devin Morton where can I find it.
Interesting video. It would have been interesting to see the 90'S Celtics with not just Len Bias, but Reggie Lewis who looked like Larry Bird's replacement until he died of a heart attack. I would love to see a what if scenario of the 90'S Celtics with those two.
Rolled my eyes when I saw you were doing a Len Bias video, yet you came up with a fresh and original take on the topic. This is why you're the best in the game

Dom love you videos, solid solid work. You would be great at creating basketball documentaries.
I wonder what shoe lineup bias would've had that would rival air jordan
Pinoy BOY Air Bias
the day before he died I believe he had just signed a huge deal with Reebok. Since Jordan originally started out as Nike's who's to say Bias wouldn't have done the same with Reebok.
Pinoy BOY Un-Bias
Sky Bias
He signed a 3 million deal the day before he died with Reebok. He hadnt even stepped foot on an NBA court, considering that fact, given a 3 million deal in 86 is crazy.
I’ve been looking for a video like this for years!!! Amazing! Thank you. One thing you did not cover was Reggie Lewis and what happens if him and Bias play together and Reggie doesn’t die. Both deaths were huge blows with Bias’ being the biggest one.
There's little guarantee that Reggie would've become a Celtic, since he was drafted a year after Bias's death.
keep up the great work man
your videos are great! you earned a sub
great analysis!

this is an extremely well put together video and usually I hate what if scenerios in sports but this one is awesome. 23ppg in college with his athletisism and size he was almost garanteed to be an NBA legend especially in that era. RIP to Len bias and good work dom
I've been binge watching your videos and after this video I subscribed to your channel keep putting out good content
I’m sorry Dom that Lakers team in ‘87 was a top 5 team all-time
Nets4life Facts no rookie was changing their dominance of the celtics that year. They were head and shoulders above boston that year
Nets4life yes they were too loaded, too good to lose to the celtics, but then again im a lakers fan so i maybe BIASed.
As good as the 87 Lakers were, the hobbled Celtics won 2 of the games and almost a third. Len Bias would have been good enough to get them two more games. The rest of the Celtics would have been fresher as well. The 86 Celtics were always considered better than the 87 Lakers , so Bias would have kept the rest of them fresher in 87 as well as other teams having to adjust to a 3rd major scoring option up front.
Or Len Bias can be a bust........
Sad Knicks Fan Nigga look at his college stats. SLIM chance of him being a bust....
Bruce Wilkins look at jimmer ferdette college stats
O Yeah but it's kinda different in the sense that Bias was really athletic
O or look up adam morrison, larry bird 2.0. yes this is a what if that he turns into a superstar, there will always be a what if he turns out a bust on the other side
Then what would really be the point of the video?
Great video bro, excellent analysis
Some serious thought went into this video. Great work!
PLEASE do a story on Benji Wilson
I thought the dude who shot him said it was in self defense. Idk tho
Better college player than Jordan
Thanks to Dean Smith keeping Jordan under 20 a game
Bill Walton was probably the greatest college player of all time.
Did Bias ever win National Player of the Year? Jordan did, at least once.
the what if that i've always waited for
thank you dom 2k
you are the goat
another great video Dom2k
Another potential loss to the NBA: Jordan _vs_ Bias would have been like GOAT 1A _vs_ GOAT 1B.
Len Bias wore Paul Pierces number
Shavarsh Devoian no Paul pierce wears bias' number
No bias wears pierces number because peirces jersey is officially from the nba and biased jersey number never had a chance to even make it
Bias was going to wear 30, 34 was already taken by the great Rick Carlisle. LOL
Landin Lucas oh I just saw this because of TruthHurts58 comment. Yeah you are right it was the other way around.
TruthHurts58 hahaha yeah you are right I made a mistake. The thing is I forgot that I even commented under this post you brought me here.
love the new youtube update
Holy shit!!!! Magnificent video Dom!!!!
I like your overall commentary. 2 Things though.
Bird say he would have retired the next season after Bias was drafted. So, he would have played one season with bias. Bird says his pain was constant and excruciating. The greats like Bird don't usually linger. He says he stayed because Red asked him too because of the bias tragedy.
There's just NO WAY Bird would have made it past 1992. His style of play was ALL OUT. If someone of his emotional caliber can't play the way they want, they're not going to get excited. That leads to lackluster performances. Birds style was just so self destructive.
I agree with most of the other stuff though. I think the Bias/Jordan rivalry would have been historic for sure. Jordan Just couldn't win before receiving his degree from the University of Larry Bird. Imagine if Bias had been there on the positive side of that university? Even for just a year?
I think you're right about the 1987 NBA Finals. The Celtics could have taken that one with Bias...
Interesting, I wonder if that one season with Bias would've changed his mind because of the pressure that was taken off of him. I never knew he planned to retire right after, interesting.
I don't know if it was his actual plan. But, as the mono-e-log suggests him and McHale might have gotten more rest is a viable thought. That said, in an interview with Bill Simmons on February 8th 2012, Larry was asked if Len Bias had lived, what would Larry have done and he stated without hesitation, "I would have retired the very next year."
But, that's 20 years later with the benefit of hindsight. Larry's competitive nature probably wouldn't have allowed him to walk away from a chance to help Bias learn and win another title. He says that now with all the aches and pains he's been cursing everyday for 20 years. "Why didn't I quit sooner?"
Who knows? He did say it though...
He didn’t say he would retire the season after, he said he would retire in 1988-89, he would get 2-3 season with Bias.
@@zuzuke.. in an interview with Bill Simmons on February 8th 2012, Larry was asked if Len Bias had lived, what would Larry have done and he stated without hesitation, "I would have retired the very next year."
If Len bias didn't die the warriors would not be the team today
ART ThePhoenixDaedulas TheLastSea ART What?
ART ThePhoenixDaedulas TheLastSea ART its a possibility
They'd probably still be as dominant, but hey, you never know. More or Less wins with Bias leads to different draft picks in the future altering the timeline of the NBA. Trades and Draft Picks in sports are a very touchy topic. What if the Timberwolves passed up on Johnny Flynn and picked Steph 6th overall. He'd probably be playing on the timberwolves and if not, he would have never thought of going to Golden State. Steve Kerr was the GM of the Suns and the dude is from Ohio and grew up in North Carolina. The man would have no business being in the middle of California. That just goes to show how a decision made 8 years ago can affect the path of a player's career, but more importantly, the fate of the league!
why you say that
I just wanted to say thank you for posting such an awesome video, you are so right. I was 21 in 1988 and I remember when this happened he was so close to my age and I was such a basketball nut my whole life. It really gave me a lot of thinking back then. All my friends called me Larry Bird my whole life, I grew up in East Oakland in the 70s so I was like the only white guy, everyone would always do the commentary sounding like Howard Cosel. Len Bias, man I haven't thought of him in a long long time. really sad day when that happened. What a loss for all of us, and his family. RIP Len
Great video
Unfortunately this video failed to address an even more serious issue, even if (God Bless his soul) Bias did not pass away, he may not have made it beyond a short span in the NBA.
First off, his lack of discipline to say no toward hard drugs will definitely make an impact, and also the influence of his surrounding friends. By all means he may have been the one who OD-ed without being persuaded by his pals, OR his pals may have goaded him to take more. Whichever the exact scenario, we will not know what exactly happened as he is no longer here to tell the story, regardless of what those around him are saying when he died OD-ing.
So my point is that Bias unless he woke up his idea, will not have made it in the NBA due to the inherent problems with hard drugs and those "friends" he had around him.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Bird say if Bias had been around then he would have retired by 1988??
Yes you are correct. I agree with the theory that bird and McHale could have rested and bias could have taken up significant slack, but maybe bird was tired of dealing with the beginnings of difficult health issues. Maybe he would have stayed on if he could have kept his play to a minimum. We'll never know.
Yes
Yeah but I think Bias would probably have convinced him to play until 1990-1991, until Larry’s back gave out, because they could still contend highly until then.
Dope new intro man
Do a what if Drazen didn't die
Do Reggie Lewis Next
Warriors Blew A 3-1 Lead Yes! He would have accounted too so Jordan would have had a run for his money.
Dom2k Love Your Vids So Much Watch Every Bid
This is already one of my favorite dom 2k videos. As a diehard C's fan I could only imagine what kind of player bias could've been......shit is so sad
hey dom you forgot about something in 1987 when the 22nd pick they selected reggie lewis who was a superstar who died in his prime so if bias doesnt die and we win and get the 23rd pick doesnt that mean the lakers get lewis
Reggie Lewis really wasn't a superstar
well he did die in his prime so we really dont know im glad you know who he is most people have no clue what im saying so i give you a W
Goatbrook he was on his way to being a star tho
They killed Len Bias
John Holcombe who is "they"?
i watched the 60 for 60 on bias and i think he believes that his "friedns" specifically (i wasn't there, and only they, the people in that room know what and how things went down but according to the primary source (one of them) and his position on the case) tribble was personally probably motivated to have done something like that (kill bias). i say this 'cause maybe he was jealous possibly probably bias went to the dorm to i guess party celebrate and there was liquor and drugs cocaine, probably freebase stuff and bias died from drugs, and the people in that room were regular users of drugs so could've been an accident but tribble seems guilty
KE TV no one specific. Just someone who wanted him dead
The fuck is "they"
Aidan Holmes do u not kno how to read? i literally JUST answered the same question right above u
MAN GREAT VIDEO BRO!!! By far my favorite video u done 2 me bro!!! PLEASE DO MORE KIND OF VIDEOS PLEASE!!!!!

I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!
Dom2k man your videos are so good they should call you Dab2k
Pin this comment by the way :)
All the "What If?" conspiracy workers skip one point on Bias intentionally: Even though if he could survive from a cocaine overdose etc., he was still a drug addict! He had to compete and overcome this habit in the first place BEFORE becoming a legend, star, all-star, or even an regular NBA player... Differ him from Chris Washburn, Roy Tarpley, Sugar Ray Richardson, etc. before making such theories, please..
Why do people dislike?
your videos are truly the best bruh i've never had a video make me think this much 😂
ive been waiting for this len bias video forever
Scroll up and watch the damn video
Ag3 No!!!
fuck u
Ag3 i'm on mobile bitch
A Celtikkks fans wet dream💀
Dr.CookiesNeedLoveLikeEverthingDoes Everyone took cocaine back then and Bias only took it once.
Dr.CookiesNeedLoveLikeEverthingDoes the funny thing about the argument that Bias was "weak minded" and never would have been great is that one of the most crucial players of that era, Dennis Rodman, was a non stop partying drug taking alcoholic and you guys are all in love with how great he was and he's got the rings to back up his great resume. How many guys tried coke a few times and nothing ever went wrong but Len was at a party where this mysterious super potent blow ends up in his system and drops him dead.
Dr.CookiesNeedLoveLikeEverthingDoes dude the 80s was the cocaine era
Ay a Len Bias vid! Len Bias should be talked about more then he should have!
Now we got Dom added to the mix😶🔥‼️‼️
Michael Jordan would not be the greatest of all time.
eduardo serrano This is true
eduardo serrano that's just not true

Or... you know... Len Bias could've been a bust or just turned into a role player.
SalaCommander26 Nah, there's no way Bias would've been a bust. Look at his college's stats. There's only like a SLIM chance.
Bruce Wilkins
That doesn't mean he would've been a star. A lot of players were great in college but not in the NBA. Tbh it would be more likely he would've just been a role player with a few all star appearances in his prime. Him being the GOAT though? Unlikely.
If Rodman could shut down Shaq, he could shut down Bias. So we still would've had one three peat.
giordan131 Fax
giordan131 *Bias?*
Um no and if he was drafted by the celtics then biss has more rings period, jordan ain't get passed Chicago until the 90's, bias was drafted same draft as jordan. Celtics had bird, mchale,Parrish, ainge, and then add bias LeBron before lebron James. Dennis ain't arrive until jordan second 3 peat and Dennis was a piston still for jordan first. I believe if len bias never died then LeBron James would've been non existent.
And Reggie Lewis could shut down MJ sooooo
Len to versatile
all of this sounds very believable, great job.
nice vid. that was deep
I guess you could say this video was "unbiased" 😂

This is so intriguing 🧐🧐💯💯
Another fire video Dom. But I still don't know the name of the intro beat. C'mon man!
Just Asking: If Len Bias is that good, why is he the second pick not first?
Joshua Tai why didn't Jordan go first? That's because different teams that hold the no. 1 pick look for players that'd fit their system best, rather than the best player
Joshua Tai the same reason Lonzo went second pick when he's not the second best in the draft
Super Dave Lonzo isn't better than fultz stfu
Super Dave fulrz is far and away the best prospect tbh Lonzo overhyped
Because Brad Daugherty was that good, however his career wasn't fufilled because of injuries.
really amazing vid, hurts tho since im a celtics fan
nice video bro
Do you remember me been here since 5k and I am still enjoying
good video!
Don't forget about Reggie Lewis paired with Len Bias. Lewis was a Celtics Legend in the making.
he speaks facts on every situation & stays unbiased
God dommit that was awesome!
Dom is the king of TH-cam NBA content.
yo Dom, I was wondering if you could do a video on "sensationalist sports journalism" (skip bayless, Stephen a., etc) and how it affects how people watch sports, specifically the NBA, as opposed to more analytical journalism.
Great video as usual, keep up the good work 💯
Nice vid. U should consider more tragidy videos such as Hank Gather's death & Jay Williams accident..
ive been dying for a len bias video
finally some new cases from your promo Althetic cases
Nice video
Its so sad,I remember seeing him when I was little with my cousins in 84.I was like wait why didn't he.wish he did.he's gonna be in my 2k games now.
There's a story (read: myth) about Red saying "let them have Jordan, I'm going to get us Len Bias and he's going to be the best player ever" during 1986 playoffs
If I remember correctly in an interview with Bill Simmons, Larry Bird said he would've retired in 89 if Len Bias did not die.
