I have an old ball & claw chair. I sanded it a bit but realized its imboia wood and a white wash would not give me the desired effect. I then decided to clean with lacquer thinners and painted it cloud white. Why did it keep on turning yellow? What did I do wrong? I applied 3 layers of paint and waited a day in between for it to dry properly.
Hi There. This is called bleeding and mostly occurs when old varnished furniture gets sanded and then painted. The oil that was absorbed by the wood over the years can now freely move through the paint due to the varnish that no longer creates a barrier. Do the following. Clean the surface well with lacquer thinners (with Tjhoko we recommend not to sand the varnish unless you want to create a lime wash effect. After a thorough wash or three with thinners (depending on the amount of oil) wait for the thinners to dry for 40 minutes. Paint a solid coat of Tjhoko Paint. Allow to dry for 4 hours, paint 2-3 coats of undiluted Clear Glaze over the bleeding areas (wait 30 minutes between coats). Wait 24 hours and paint onto the glaze again. The Glaze is a pure acrylic sealant and will keep the oil intact again🌷. Should anything be unclear or should you need more help email us at support@tjhokopaint.co.za

Hallo! Another question...I have a new origon pine table. Can I just glaze it? Must I dilute it with 30% water. I am scared it will turn yellow. It is raw timber with nothing on yet. I like to keep it as is but just seal it.
Do I understand correctly- you don’t want to paint the table? You just want to seal the wood, right?

I like to work with Woodoc Waterborne Matt Clear. Best will be to contact them to make 100% sure it is best for your item🌷
@@TjhokoPaint Thank you so much for all your help. I simply love your products and enjoy painting with it. One last thing: instead of the lengthy process of sealing and repainting and sealing again, will using a universal sealant over the already 3 layers of white Tjhoko not work as well, then mixing glaze and white Tjhoko as a final coat for my chrisp white finish?

Hi daar! Hoop dit gaan goed! My kombuiskaste is geverf in Comfort’s Blue en my eetkamerkaste in Sherif’s Stone. Stuur dalk n “screenshot” van die kaste waarna verwys word, dan maak ek 100% seker dat ek reg help🌷
