hope everyone is well! just want to let you all know, ill be trying to release up to 3 videos a week for a bit until we have caught up to real time! hope you enjoy the influx of videos haha😁
Happy holidays! Haha. Yess.. I've realised you guys are months behind. Lots has changed and I need to catch up! We haven't even filmed 4 other trips due to time restrictions.
Mate appreciate the content, love the boat and the sound of the big diesel purring away. Had many days and nights to that melodic resonance. We are kiwi recreational fishers. All the best and safe travels.
Very enjoyable , you are a responsible fisher ! you don’t rape the good spots ! there is always tomorrow or a next time to come back. 👍 fishing for the future. I realise you are a commercial fishing boat and you have all sorts of expenses it is not all good/ profit . Love your videos ❤️ hats off to you both . Keep safe out there. All the best for the future. Cheers Geoff 🦞🦞👍😀
Thanks Geoff! As good as the $$ looks you are right. Things are very tight atm. Very unaffordable to fish. Lucky person is the decky at the moment. All the best. Thanks for watching.
Bryce, this is Simon from Key West, met you at the dock at Margate back in January. Wondering how long your soak time is between pulls? Must be measured in hours since you only fish 52 traps. Interesting how fisheries develop. Here in the spiny lobster fishery in Florida, a typical boat would fish 2-3000 (thousand) traps with soak times between 1-3 weeks. Mean yearly (August-April) catch in order of 30-40000 lbs. ( 15-20000kg). No quota to purchase, but we get less than half the dockside price of you guys adjusting for US/AUS dollar
G'day Simon! Hope you and the family are well! How were the rest of the travels? Our soak times for 'day' shots are around 4hours. Enough time to eat then have a snooze hah.
How many lobsters are on that $16,000 catch fir the day, I'm tired watching because in every trap there are only 2-5 pieces of lobster which is good for business the rest are not because it's too small to sell but the catch were huge in every trap👍👍👍
He did all the work? He can't make money without a good skipper. Hahah pots don't land on spots without both working together, boats don't maintain themselves without the 2 working together.. gear also doesn't maintain itself without the 2 of us.. He also doesn't get feed without the skipper paying. Ect ect... ect. He made more then people can in a week's work for the day. But in saying that. He can also go a month or more without working.
@johnpaproth5684 not true, if catch rates exceed more then demand we end up with a healthy fishery but less money. There is a happy medium. Healthy stocks and ability to sell produce.
@@Aussielobsterhunters Fair enough, I know most of you do the right thing to maintain a healthy industry and if you say that keeping the Jenny's does not cause any detrimental effects then I cannot argue with you because it is your business that would be directly affected, I just know that there are some cowboys out there who just could not give a toss and just want to reap the short term profit at the cost of the industry, which I know you are not one of them. It is really bad in the mud crab industry.
@johnpaproth5684 our industry is a commonwealth industry. 1 small stuff up your talking thousands then hundreds of thousands in fines. It's not worth anyone's times. Only issues in the industry is female take and potentially females with eggs being taken is the rec sector. So when females are in berrie the rec sector is closed.
hope everyone is well!

When you are throwing back the undersized do mark it for the following year since they have to find new digs??
Nope, don't need to in this industry :)
Nice video
What's the measurements and size of your traps I'd like to create one as an apprentice welder
I shall measure one up in a future video! Might even do a TH-cam short. About it.
Do you ever sit down to a crayfish meal?
Not unless it's Easter, or Christmas haha.

Only ever seen 2. But they are definitely about!
Throw the captain in he moved the pots
what are prices like now,
Small prices are up. Big prices are down. Average about $58 per kg. Maybe $60 at the moment
52 fathoms. So lobs don't suffer barratrauma?
Great question they do actually. Our haulers are set at a slower speed. Some people don't but we definitely do! 😀
This is where????
Japan
Anjir klo di Indonesia di ambil semua itu. Tanpa sortir
It was 10 not 11 😂
Sound like a couple of Brits
Definitely not haha
@@Aussielobsterhunters sorry mate. Regards from England. Keep catching
Please dont overfish, manage the ressource carefully
We can't, its quota keeps us from "overfishing" however we have steps inplace that insure increases in stock levels.
@@Aussielobsterhunters gooood
cmon mate, get a better microphone
One day
Why do you take the Jennys regardless of if they are carrying eggs or not, Jenny's are the breeders, and any jenny should be thrown back regardless
@@johnpaproth5684 because our industry is healthy and works perfectly fine as it is.
@@Aussielobsterhunters and returning the Jenny's would make your industry boom even more lowering your costs?
