Unusual, compact VW T6 motorhome : Wingamm Micros

- This is a very unusual, compact VW T6 motorhome is the Wingamm Micros, built on a monocoque (single shell) in northern Italy by a family owned company. You might think it looks sterile, you might think it looks bright - so which one is it.
My friend Camper Tobi (who has his own TH-cam site) turned up during filming and I have left in our little chat!
I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
In my TH-cam channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. If I could start my life allover I would buy myself a camper from the moment I'd move out from my parents. Now it's too late,as I have become too attached to all my old furnitures and stuff that I have bought or inherited during the years. Young people; don't buy a house,buy a camper!!! Imagine how free you'd be,to always have your home with you,wherever you go you have your bed right outside!! Oh I wanna be young again!!!!
The average age of an RV puchaser in the US is 48. In Norway it is 70. So one is never too old.
@@VanlifewithAlan okay,good to know! it's just that I can't get rid of my belongings,all my furnitures are from 70's and way back,they mean a lot to me! you know,it's different if you have bought everything from Ikea through the years or if you have things from your childhood-home and your great grandparents home..you bond to them😍at least I do!
@@mrsTraveller64 I have a huge book collection. What I do is to keep a room and my stuff is in there - well, that and the garage. And I live in my van all the time.

@@mrsTraveller64 Why not rent one for a couple of weeks and see if you like it. Then try a month. Then rent one for three months. That is what I would recommend.
It has a hybrid toilet/shower room, that's impressive for such a small vehicle.
A wet bathroom. I have never used one of those.

I couldn't live in it, but other people do like tiny spaces like that. To each their own.
The seating is plush! I wish designers in the US were paying attention, I LOVE the curved lines & that bathroom is AWESOME!
Also the unibody design is so smart when you think about rain, no cracks or crevasses for rain to get into!
Why can’t we have this high level of design and quality in the USA blows the class Bs here away IMHO.

The US Bs are about twice the cost (at least) also :(

The advantage of this 'tiny home' is that it has wheels and you can go without having to pack up!

It's got a bigger bathroom than I've got in my flat :O But I love the bench seating area in the living area. You can stretch out to watch a film on the evening

Yes it does as it in the majority of wingamm mini camper vans, it's their signature almost and is a key factor in having extra living space

Yes, the colour was perfect.
The smartest layout and space efficiency I’ve seen. You can easily sit a a lot of people in a comfortable party position.

The Micros has a double GRP shell with foam insulation between the 2 layers and has blown air and underfloor heating system which runs off diesel. All tanks are insulated and are heater protected. The locker behind the rear bumper is great for the skis!

I thought a dry bath was when the toilet is in a different room from the shower?

This is really beautiful and the color scheme is so soothing and timeless. I would have loved this a few years ago when I was looking for one and yes they are expensive, that's the bad part but totally in love and looks easy to drive

sadly VW stopped making the base vehicle for this but the Oasi 540 is a great substitute. I have a Micros and if changing I would get the Oasi 540

I feel very fortunate to own a Winghamm....best ever! Brilliant design. I have the slightly larger oasi for just me & the dog...4 berth...best investment I ever made...comfortable, warm all year round. If you can afford one...go for it. I have never regretted my decision to save hard to buy one!

I have two mid sized collies and am considering the Oasi 540. Would love to get some feedback on how you find the space with your dog!
@@katharineofarrogant7805 if there is just one adult then it should be ok, although on a wet day it might be difficult. I would think the best solution would be having an awning. That way the dogs will be outside most of the time. The floor space is at a premium and unless your dogs can both go on the bottom bunk while you are in the van you might find it a little tight for space. Travelling with them would mean you would have to have them connected to the 2 passenger seats which shouldn’t be a problem as they will have space. My dog is small and when I’m parked I find it easier to move around if she is in a pen outside or in her bed under the bench seats. She can travel in the front seat with me so that’s not a problem. Night time is fine as they would have the freedom of the van if you slept in the overhead bed. I hope that helps.

@@katharineofarrogant7805 yes the oasi 650 ( I think) . It’s a 4 berth..perfect for me & the dog lol! If I knew how to attach a picture to this I would but I can’t see anywhere to do it. Send me your e mail and I can send a couple of pictures of it inside & out if that helps. I’m a single female traveller and have found it to be so reliable and easy to use and maintain. It’s 6.1 Mtrs long so parks easily.
That bathroom is worth it all. I agree with mrsC Mac, I'll be 82 this year and this would be a wonderful option. I've been downsizing. Have to get the books on tech, and everything else can go. Trouble is finding a place to park it... Tiny house living at it's finest. Not sure I understand what you said there at the last, but I'll look it up. Thanks for posting this.

I also love the Winghams particularly the micros strange unusually Alan didn’t have much to say I wish their were more compact drop down L shaped lounge layouts, dinettes and half dinettes are pretty uncomfortable for relaxing on a crappy weather day or long winter evening

Your not going to lose this van the car park, it'll stick out like a sore thumb. The inside looked great, the shower looked huge. More info on gas storage/capacity and does it have solar(probably if I asked for it).👍🖖🏴🏴🏴
Gas locker takes a 13Kg Calor bottle. There is a dedicated space on the roof for a solar panel (c100-120W). It can be ordered with VWs 4 wheel drive system and DSG auto gearbox.

This I absolutely love! Mini Campers in this version in which I love. As long the thing can hold up the weight of 500 pounds or more. Which is probably the only minor set back for couples, depending on combined weight of course. But definitely perfect for me, if I’m traveling or need a place to sleep.
The bed weight capacity is 350KG and the vehicle payload is 540KG (=1188 pounds) (payload depends on base vehicle options of course).

@Anni C , I believe the fridge was below the stove, so the cabinet he couldn't open was more than likely storage.

I think that is the nicest very small motorhome available. If I didn't have the requirement of a large garage that would be my favourite motorhome of them all. I would love one of the bigger Wingamms such as the City Suite, however they are all out of my budget.

This one is too cute and my husband asked “when does he take the bed down” I told him it is too much work for Alan to do while he is filming.
In this case it is to do with the policy of the trade fair. Why not write to Messe Dusseldorf and request that people like me are able to get in earlier, then write to the manufacturers to ask them if I can take the bed down.
I'd honestly just convert a larger berth sprinter with recycled and reclaimed stuff, much more room and costs much less with an older van, especially if I chose to live in it for a month while travelling.

Why do you never show us the bed down, I’ve watched many of your videos and it would greatly help if you showed the bed down. How can people make a decision on which ones to look at if you don’t.
Why not write to the manufacturers and tell them that you want to see the bed down - then I will film it down. They don't permit people to lower the bed.

It's ok. But I would have liked to see the bathroom smaller. Maybe not have the bathroom sink so huge. And it would be nice to see the kitchen table convert to a lounge area. I too would have liked to see the bed down.

Maybe a kind of weird question, but do you maybe know how much it is allowed to pull? We go on quite a lot of overnight horse shows and this kind of camper would be absolutely perfect.
