True. But most autistic women have been diagnosed with 1 or more other disorders before getting diagnosed with autism. And typically it’s like OCD, social or generalised anxiety, BPD, sometimes even ptsd (although in this case, one helps uncover the other, not either or). Not saying she has it though, just thought I’d add on that it’s possible for it to be both.
@AmphibiousCreature876 my theory is that a lot of autistic girls who aren't diagnosed as kids end up developing a lot of secondary disorders like anxiety and depression because they get all of the stigma of being "weird" with none of the support or understanding since it's believed to be a personality or behavioral problem rather than a condition. this is often why it's difficult for ND women in particular to distinguish between autism and trauma. but maybe i'm projecting
A high score there does not mean you have autism but can also indicate other Neuro divergency. They often overlap some aspects especially social stuff can be very hard for some people but that does not mean that they have autism. If you do have a high score and have issues dealing with certain things in life, it might help you put a label on it. If you get therapy its best to make a diagnosis beforehand anyway take care all
I mean I'm not diagnosed autistic, but I am diagnosed combined type adhd and with social anxiety and scored a 145. There was a lot of overlap with symptoms of those and the questionnaire
In case it helps anyone, I was recently officially diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and complex PTSD. I’m a 33 y/o female. I scored a 149 the first time and 154 the second time I took this test (a year apart). I also scored in the spectrum on all other tests on the site. However, my diagnosing psychologist said she HATES these tests on Embrace Autism due to them “misdiagnosing” a lot of people that are just “different” and not autistic, or have other neurodivergencies. So yes, you may be autistic, but you also might have something else, or just be weird 😛 From watching lots of QT content of her alone and with others, and her test on here, I’m more inclined to think she may have lots of social anxiety tied to her trauma and pattern specific behaviors tied to her OCD (funny because I wrote this before she said it herself 😅) more so than autism since many of the autism specific questions she didn’t seem to resonate with.
Really loved how genuine and self-reflective she was taking this test! Even though it's a serious topic, her personality shines through with those little moments like debating whether she quotes Taylor Swift too much or talking about her weird hugging relationship with Maya. She's super honest about her social anxiety and OCD too, which makes the whole thing feel relatable. Pretty cool to see a streamer being this open about mental health stuff without making it feel heavy or awkward. Also gave me a better understanding of how autism traits can overlap with other things like social anxiety.
It works to some extend, because I got 175, which resonates with what I know. But don't blindly trust this test, the questions aren't deep enough to be precise in their accessment of your mind, and autism is way too complicated for four options to tell you if you're autistic or not.
This test is used as a preliminary method to self-assess. It's not an excuse to self-diagnose. The test outlines where it is an accurate indicator, and where it falls short. The reading also explains the margin of error and fluctuations between male and female ranges. It is not meant to be taken absolutely, and instead there to help people who want to avoid the $3,000 diagnosis cost in Canada. (Autism is covered but the diagnosis is not for adults)
@@MaestroP1 the main benefit of a formal diagnosis is knowing the explanation of your traits or potentially accessing supports in school or the workplace (if such supports would be applicable for you). However, there is no medical treatment for autism and therapies and resources that are helpful to autistic people are just as accessible without formal diagnosis. Formal diagnosis comes with risks of making an individual vulnerable to discrimination. The only harm with self-diagnosis is if it leads individuals to avoid seeking treatment for a more accurate diagnosis that can be treated. Eg, ADHD can be medicated. OCD and anxiety also have different treatments, including potential medications. But it really depends on the specific symptoms being experienced and in what ways it impairs the individual. More often than not self-diagnosis for autism is pretty harmless.
Remember to take the test with a grain of salt. If you want to know if you have any autism or anything else to get the done professionally. The test could offer some insight but not what should be use to try to identify.
a lot of this clip is people being confused that a lot of these things also apply to other conditions and its like... yeah... autism has a really high overlap with a lot of other shit. its a test to indicate autistic traits, not a diagnosis
Firstly it's important to know these things (autism, adhd etc) are syndromes. They've been named because certain people have similar "symptoms" that occur all at once. It is highly likely (if you're neurotypical) you may have some. In order to be diagnosed you need a certain amount of "boxes ticked" though As the test itself says, this is a guideline not a diagnosis. I tend to see a lot of people who get a high score and immediately think that means they're autistic. That's not necessarily true, many things have overlapping symptoms. Even things like ptsd and autism share very similar symptoms. I think it's useful to understand this, because nd people do just have very different coping mechanisms to nt people. Also I find the questions very limited and close-minded. Like they ask questions a lot more focused on things that could easily overlap with social anxiety/other things, or just are based off very stereotypical outdated views. This test doesn't event take into consideration at all the people who have audhd. Overall I think if you need to self-diagnose it's ok. Just ask yourself your motives behind it (like what is your purpose of diagnosing? Are you doing this with confirmation bias), and always make sure to do more research than just a test. I really recommend watching videos by people on the spectrum (my favourites are "Autistic AF (he actually just made a video about this test)" and "I'm autistic, now what?"). I personally have a medical diagnosis. If that is a step you eventually decide to take, it is quite beneficial, that's a very personal decision though.
I think most twitch streamers will ace the autism test cause you have to have a certain personality to even be interested in streaming and to succeed at it
I was diagnosed with Autism at 3 to 4 years old, Taking the RAADS-R test and scoring a 190 didn't surprise me at all, there is no questioning if I have autism or not.
“I understand when others need to be comforted” - I think that’s an interesting one because QT doesn’t seem to react well when people cry. She & Maya are similar in that way which is why their friendship isn’t the type where they comfort one another. QT may be able to IDENTIFY that someone needs to be comforted, but not sure if she understands.

They are not DEFINITELY autistic. Tests like these are designed to screen for the most common traits in people with autism and help people seek out an actual diagnosis which is MUCH more comprehensive than just asking multiple choice questions. The problem is, a lot of autistic traits can be found with other neurdivergent people because things like OCD and ADHD have high comorbidities with autism, which is why, once again, you need to rely on an actual diagnosis and not solely on random quizzes (this specific test called RAADS-R, however, is not random; it is still often cited as useful and a good step 0)
The test isn't a guranteed result, and it works through common traits of autism. The reason you can relate is because some traits like eratic movements repeat across multiple neurological divergences.
