We're happy to share our next commission of works for 2020 by the talented Israeli composer Yair Klartag, who wrote his work "Instabilities", which was filmed by our friends at Pilvax Films. Ilya Gringolts, our Founder and Co-Artistic Director takes centre stage as soloist in this piece.
Here is what Yair has to say about his work: "As a means of coping with the inherent instability of all systems surrounding us, I have been looking for natural phenomena that are characterized by a constant state of imbalance. Each of the three movements of the piece is inspired by such a phenomenon: the first movement “Primordial Fluctuations” refers to variations in the density of the material during the early forming of the universe. The second movement is titled “Liquid Fragility”, a term used to quantify the elasticity of glass during its melting process. The third movement “Colony Collapse” is inspired by a phenomenon observed in bee hives, where the majority of worker bees in a bee colony disappear, leaving the queen by herself."
A glimpse into Yair's experiences as a musician: "Yair Klartag (b.1985) is an Israeli composer teaching composition at Tel Aviv University.
