The ear piece isn't just what goes in the ear, there are wires underneath the clothes that connect to the box on the back that transmits the signal, the whole thing went flying and she had to hold the box close to her body because if it stayed dancing with the thing loose it would rattle and bang around it and as it is still attached by the wires there is no way to throw it away and continue as if nothing had happened.
