Wow....you made this way too easy. I really appreciate this tutorial. Coffee is on me. You would never be able to work for AutoDesk because you make too much sense and your approach is way to efficient, elegant, and effective.
Thank you very much for this video!. You saved me a lot of time. Is there any way to use a number in every point, to join them with lines automatically in that order?
Good video ! Would be interested to know if when importing the points, could you use a specific block instead of the points? And if the block has attributes, could these be imported too? Thanks !!
Thank you for the video, it is great. I want to ask if it is possible to also include the poin ID or number so it can be a part of the info of each point. I tryed but it presents an error.
I don't have levels, so tried with easting and northing only points and tried to paste in autocad the way you did but nothing appears? any idea what to do?
Hello and thank you for the video. I have an issue how to import Excel coordinate data into AutoCAD for the Cross Section Soil Line. If you could help me with that it would mean the world, thank you and king regards.
A point in AutoCAD only has 3 bits of information. They are the X, Y and Z coordinates. If you need to add more attributes to a point, perhaps you could look into importing a point file into Civil3D
Hi. Good question. I'm not sure that you can automatically do that in AutoCAD. You may have to manually add the text after importing the points. If you have access to Civil3D, however, then adding points will also add the elevation data as an object that can displayed very easily. Do you have Civil3D? If you do, you can see me importing a text file to Civil3D and displaying point elevations in this video: th-cam.com/video/EOxB2pYWuGI/w-d-xo.html Wayne
Does anyone know how to get a true scale in excel for a site plan? It seem that the bigger the site plan is the more the scale gets off. I think excel is not accounting for the grid lines and it throws the cells off. Is there an option in excel to take that into account?
I'm not sure that there is an easy way to join them automatically without writing a script, and I've never tried that. Depending on the number of points, it may be easier to manually join them using a line, polyline or 3DPolyline in CAD after they have been imported.
***** Is there a way to write a script with the coordinates so that I can import it into autocad and it will display a drawing instead of points? I can do that in solidworks.
+This Dude There may well be, I'm not sure. It's easy enough in Civil3D to code up the points to automatically join, but I'll be honest, it's not something I've ever tried to do in AutoCAD. One complication I can think of is that more than likely not all points will be joined to each other (for example, maybe you only need the outside points to be joined to form a boundary line, but the points inside would not need to be joined by lines), and it might be difficult to code them so that only the ones you want joined become joined while the rest are treated as single points. Not saying it can't be done, but I can't help you on that one, I'm afraid.
Hi. The video just shows a quick way to get a lot of points into AutoCAD: how you join them is up to you. I suggest that you use object snaps, though, and make sure "node" is turned on. If you want to use a polyline to join them, it might be worth considering the use of a 3-dimensional polyline, which is started by entering "3dpoly" on the command line.
The command line can appear in a floating tool bar, so it is possible to move it, hide it, minimise it and close it independently to everything else on the screen. If you have accidentally closed the toolbar, holding down the CTRL key and pressing 9 should bring it back.
Hi. Sorry, I do not have the 2007 version to do any testing with, but I'd imagine it's done the same way? The main component is getting the data in the correct format using Concatenate in Excel, and after that it's just the multiple point creation command in AutoCAD.
Not sure point numbers mean a whole lot in regular AutoCAD. They’re much more important in Civil3D, and I have videos showing how to import point files into Civil3D elsewhere on the channel.
sarji apke video se koi bhi engineer ban sakata hai ,par mere jaise ITI surveyer ko 1 help chahiye ki mere pass dumpy lvl hai .mai village map exel data banake cad me kaise banau .mere pass distunce, RL , point name, house name, normal bearing without second.hai.pls help us
Hi. There could be any number of reasons for that. If you have followed my video exactly, then the problem may be that the limits are set too low in AutoCAD, or that the numbers are not in a format that AutoCAD recognises. Can you give me an example of a coordinate for one of your points please?
The level should also be imported, but it won’t show up on the CAD screen as a label. If you follow the video and then use the “ID” command over one of the points, you should see the level data in there. It will be the 3rd value, after X and Y

Thank you for the brilliance of making it so quick.
I know people who would have explained this for 15 minutes.
Thankful regards
Thank you so much for showing me this , I used to manually input all the data ! Give this man a pint
Thank you very much for this video!. You saved me a lot of time.
Is there any way to use a number in every point, to join them with lines automatically in that order?
Excellent, fast and accurate. Just what I was looking for, thank you very much.
is there a way to have to points IDs on the points as well ?
Not sure you can do that in AutoCAD. It’s very easy in Civil3D, though.
Good video ! Would be interested to know if when importing the points, could you use a specific block instead of the points? And if the block has attributes, could these be imported too? Thanks !!

+PERMACULTIVOS it you edit the point label style, you should be able to include that information.
thank you for this, explained easily and so simple! life saver
Thanks for your comment.
I don't have levels, so tried with easting and northing only points and tried to paste in autocad the way you did but nothing appears? any idea what to do?
It should work with just the X and Y values as long as you follow my method but leave out the final comma and Z value.
Thanks for a quick, easy and informative video and method!
Very Helpful !! Kindly let me know how can I input values ( XYZ along with the points...especially Levels )
Can a google map be added to this? I need my excell data points plotted on a google map in autocad.
As far as I know, the map integration with AutoCAD Civil3D is with Bing maps, not Google.
Hi. How can we add attributes to those points? for example, length and width to be show in properties?
Thanks for the video. Really informative, however when I import the points I cannot see them even when I zoom and e.
Any advice?
YA...ITS AMAZING.. I AM ALWAYS USING THIS METHOED.THANKS FOR SHARING
Very precise! Thank you

Send me an email and we can discuss. Cadandstuff[at]gmail[dot]com
That was real quick, thanks for the information
Great video, could you do another showing how to join points and add the dimensions too the lines.
tried this and worked perfectly. Thanks :)
Great! Glad you found it useful. Wayne
When i provided the points,it is showing to specify the end point of the line and nothing visible on the screen
How do you add the labels to each point?
Check out the video I did on it. It may help you. Have a nice day 🤘
How can I level the point, I want to show its station no. as well?

How do I make the levels appear next to the points? Thanks

how to add points with label?
I’m not sure that you can in regular “AutoCAD”. You can in Civil3D, though: do you have that application?
@@CADandStuff never heard of it! but now i will search for it
