Your videos are always a pleasure to watch Sandy. There is no right or wrong way to get out in nature, but I prefer your style of camping. You and Elsa are a class act! Thanks for making this wonderful video! Sincerely, Ossie
Loved the video Sandy, each one gets a little better and I enjoy watching them from across the pond. Elsa deserves a streak bone for her brave trek across the sway bridge! Woof!
Sandy, lovely 3-day campout. Nice to see you and John. Wish I could have been with you.... So much fun and I'd learn too. Still not able to consistent make fire with flint and steel. I must be doing something wrong. When I get it mastered, it will be included in my 1800s style miniseries. Intelligent tents...wow.... Take care, my friend. Ken
Nice to see the tipi reproofed. Will look out for your rain test!! That area is beautiful. Love the Wye. Hope to get there soon, maybe with my canoe. Great trip. Donny.
Great video Sandy. We are heading over to the Lake district this summer fir two weeks camping and I hope the weather is as good for us as it was for you on this camp. Thanks for Sharing, we really enjoyed watching.
Always a pleasure to see a new video from you. Nice camp, beautiful spring scenery - thanks very much for sharing another inspirational adventure! Though I usually use a hammock or bivy bag when I backpack or hike - I like teepee tents for car-camping. Peace & Best Wishes -
now thats posh lol looks like a mini holiday mate - not sure about that bridge hahaha loved the dogging bit (you know what i mean lol) that firebox is getting used a bit now - how did you manage with out it? just being outdoors is good for the soul
Looks like you had a brilliant time Sandy mate . Our dog does the same thing with Bakers Meaty Chunks .. They turn up everywhere ! Thanks for sharing your trip bud Luke
I want a nice plush camp chair like you had...lol A bush kit MUST be blackened to have the right look. I never clean mine. The black reminds me of all the meals or tea/coffee that i have made. As a bonus when i boil water in the kitchen with it to make chaga tea, the wood smoke smell that fills the kitchen is like perfume to me. Awesome good time brother. Since we are so far apart, i have to envy the guys you are with.
Looks like the Forestry Commision campsite near Coleford which ive used a few times, (a nice place). Am suprised you didnt bump into any Wild Boar when you were there, there's many living wild in the Forest Of Dean now, we think we heard some once when we were there. Anyway, thanks for posting Sandy.
there's a bridge like that in Pitlochry, and a ferry like that in Périgueux. The RFD is one of my favourites, it has a little of everything interesting. The boar are numerous, and that helicopter probably belongs to a local land developer. Looks like the spot west of Cinderford
Hello Sandy thanks for sharing this, as others have already said it is a very nice video. Loved the reaction of elsa to the bacon? is this a ritual with her? my little Patterdale cross used to continuously lick and bite a a treat before devouring it. Thanks again Sandy........Les.
Isnt it handy, the Piccaso seats coming out like they do, Ive got one the same colour as yours, hellish roomy motor. Whats the crack with Elsa and the food ' was it too hot '. Looks like you enjoyed yourselves especialy John "GLAMPING ", lol. Not sure about cowboy Jack though, A T B and as always L N T, Ken
Camped many a time in The Dean. If you follow the path along the river up stream on the side you approached the bridge, about half way to the pub, up the cliffs there’s some caves you can camp in and explore.
Beautiful area, so peaceful. Does Elsa's unspoken-on-camera name have to do with stealing sausages? :-) I enjoy your camping videos very much, beautiful area. Makes me always think of "And did those feet in ancient times walk upon England's mountains green...?"
Brilliant mate quick question do you prefer the folding firebox over the honey stove and if so it it because the firebox is bigger. Cant wait for the next video mate. :-)
Great vid again sandy , you john had great time how many mile was the round trip is this the place you was going to again ,that you spoke about when wee talked on the phone ? looks a nice area Regards Marty
Can you please give advice on how to make an easy vestibule, maybe with a tarp, for my small two man quechua pop up tent for when its raining. In the morning, if raining, I have nowhere to set up a stove because the door area slopes backwards as many tent fronts do!! Any help?
Nice little video, enjoyed watching that. What time of year was this shot? We're going to the same campsite in 8 days for a week and a bit, hope we're as lucky with the weather as you two. Taking our kevlar kayak. The river looks fairly fast flowing, Is it asa choppy as it looks in your videos the entire length or were you in a choppy area?
is it legal to camp in the F.O.E. ?? what about the wood processing ?? can you cut wood and start fire/cook ? is it legal to cut wood with machete ? or hatchet ? cheers mate
If your doing a trek and camping somewhere new each night yes.. but to stay undetected in the same spot in the forest of dean or indeed most of England and Wales is very difficult for more than a night. Of course its possible but I would suggest striking camp each day. Kind regards, atb.

Beautiful area, good times! There's just something about cooking over a wood stove that makes the food taste better. Thanks for sharing!

The F.O.D....On my doorstep :) ... Love it there, and although a Gloucestershire lass all my life, I've only ever walked a fraction of it.

Hi Garwth,
The folding firebox is superior because it doesn't buckle. My honey stove has buckled quite badly.
Sandy

Well I bought Fabsil I hope that it doesn't leave the same white marks all over the Laavu as yours did. Nice to see BJ all domestic and house proud!!
Can you please give advice on how to make an easy vestibule, maybe with a tarp, for my small two man quechua pop up tent for when its raining. In the morning, if raining, I have nowhere to set up a stove because the door area slopes backwards as many tent fronts do!! Any help?

You do make a good video Sandy, keep em coming, Paul.
absolutly wonderful my friend
Are you allowwed to fish in the river, would there be trout in there?
Nice little video, enjoyed watching that. What time of year was this shot? We're going to the same campsite in 8 days for a week and a bit, hope we're as lucky with the weather as you two. Taking our kevlar kayak. The river looks fairly fast flowing, Is it asa choppy as it looks in your videos the entire length or were you in a choppy area?
Jamie Johnstone Also, why does elsa do that before she eats the sausage?
Jamie Johnstone I think Elsa was tryng to burry the sausage. She does that a lot ith food when she doesnt want to eat it. She is trying to hide it!
wow i like that lamp is it run on parafin?
really enjoyed the vid, all the best
is it legal to camp in the F.O.E. ??
what about the wood processing ?? can you cut wood and start fire/cook ?
is it legal to cut wood with machete ? or hatchet ? cheers mate
No your not supposed to camp in the forest apart from on permitted camp sites. So anything else will have to be stealthy.
so can you go stealthy camping ? for 3-4 days ?
If your doing a trek and camping somewhere new each night yes.. but to stay undetected in the same spot in the forest of dean or indeed most of England and Wales is very difficult for more than a night. Of course its possible but I would suggest striking camp each day. Kind regards, atb.
I love the forest of dean great place to camp and the walks are great to. :-)
Cool vid Sandy
That little stove is a ripper, you don't see them over here.
Hi Sandy that explains everything thanks mate :-)
