Or a good actor sitting there like a poor soul. He wasn't concerned about his wife being murdered. Any normal person would be eager to find his wives killer. The judge wasn't "loud" and the attorneys did the best they could given the overwhelming evidence against him. The one huge mistake that the defense made was conceding this was a murder, this probably costed them the trial....but other than that they did a fine job given the facts of the case and the evidence they had against him.

I'm clueless as to how a jury found this guy guilty beyond a reasonable doubt - I'm struggling to find even a basis of circumstantial evidence beyond his presence near the scene of the death to consider he committed a murder. I'm having trouble with 2 comments Todd made. 1..."she didn't want to fell worthless". Interesting choice of word. As someone who has been exposed to verbal abuse in my past, the word worthless made me cringe. Why would he use that word instead of saying something like 'she wanted to be helping us because she had been inside for 5 day's. The other issue I have is when he's talking about seeing his wife with a corn fork in her back, he's trying to get her to respond and he comments "somethings wrong". Ummm...ya think!?!?!?! As for the cameras..for a farmer who's in those barns all the time it seems like he would have noticed those cameras being on the ground. Todd has no emotion but the son didn't either. I would think a 14 year old would be a crying mess on the stand describing this day.

I agree. The "worthless" comment struck me, too, as someone with verbal and emotional abuse in my past. That, and based on everything Amy said about him, make me think he is a manipulative abuser. The internet searches, the cameras being off that day, too many "coincidences"-- he's guilty and I think his son definitely knows a lot more than he's saying and probably helped.

LegendLength Agree! I will never understand how or why the police/prosecution are always so vehement in their tunnel vision making the pieces fit their chosen suspect. So far I am not convinced. My first thought was Jerry and/or very likely his wife.
The authorities put too much weight on electronics. So many possible scenarios for those internet searches. Maybe Amy was researching cheating spouses to put a check on her own behavior 🤔 The most telling is the dna search. That says to me Amy might have been questioning paternity of one of their children. Says a heck of a lot about her and her character in addition to the romantic rendezvous on the side of the road. I’m certain most people’s search history could be used to fit any given scenario. Anyways...not convinced of guilt yet.
I find it disturbing so many can’t presume innocence in these cases. Yes someone lost their life...but you better be damned certain this man did it. It’s not just about him...

I agree 100%! Both her husband & son repeatedly tried to get her to go back to the house, but she kept insisting that she wanted to help, so to appease her, Todd suggested that if she wanted to help then she could go get the pet carrier on her way to the house. I believe that is what she decided to do. So she goes to the red shed, reaches up to get the pet carrier, got dizzy & passed out & fell on the corn rake, which impaled her the first time. She then regained consciousness & tried to pull the rake out, but was only able to get it partially out & due to the pain/blood loss she passed out again falling on the corn rake a 2nd time impaling herself again. I don't believe for one second that out of ALL the options he had to make it look like a farming accident that he decided stabbing her with a corn rake was the best one. Not to mention if he had stabbed the mother of his children & his wife of 14-years with a corn rake no way would he then send his 14-year-old son into that shed to find his dead mother.

Its obvious that they picked a suspect and then built the case around the suspect. Im not saying he didn't do it, but I am not saying he did. To be honest, there is the same amount of circumstantial evidence to say the son did it as well. A son that was questioned by Dad asking if Mom was acting different; knowing his mother had an affair prior. A son that could search the web to see what a spouse would act like; to understand what Dad meant. Did the Father have an obsession with Aztecs? What is the son learning right now in school? Aztecs? Why was that search wondering what an ancient civilization did to cheating spouses? A boy who sees his family being pulled apart by his mother? Could have been a simple accident or a confrontation that got carried away. Who knows! There are simply too many unanswered questions to throw this man in jail.

If he’s violent, he’s probably not going to be going to counseling either. In my case, dude wouldn’t even sit down and read a couples devotion once a day with me much less go to counseling, but he sure was telling me how he’s got enough strength in his pinky to choke the life out of me if he wanted to. Why are there so many people in the comments saying he is innocent? The case seems pretty clear that she did not fall on that rake and there was no one nearby that could have done this otherwise. The fact that she was having an affair and going to leave the guy is just the metaphorical icing on the conviction cake.
It really seems like a bunch of the people from this community are in the comment sections and they just want to protect him because they are okay with killing their wives if they cheat.

@@froggitylumpus3805 i’m an insurance broker in northern Virginia, and participate because i believe this was a massive injustice. Fyi, you’re not guilty of murder because you are proximate to the dead body. You must present evidence. There is no direct evidence in this case. “Who else could have done it” is insufficient to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. I would encourage you to, as i have, watch the entire trial. It’s available on court tv’s website. I’m pretty sure though that if you are brilliant enough to believe that people are posting here because there’s a large contingent in IA that supports killing our wives…you probably don’t possess the grey matter to properly analyze this case.

@@froggitylumpus3805 you garnered this wisdom about the large contingent supporting killing cheating wives where? Can you point me to this statistic? Motive, proximity, and opportunity do not a murderer make. If you believe he should have heard screams…from over 100 yards away when he was in a different building, btw, where you have no knowledge of what machine or other noises were in the background, then by necessity you implicate his son in the murder. Further, i don’t believe it was a homicide. However, if it were then i would be more likely to implicate Jerry than Todd, as he had a better motive. Remember that todd had been cheated on 5 years prior, and when he found out do you know how crazy he went? No…because he didn’t. He took his wife back, went to counseling, and never even contacted the guy she cheated with. Then she cheats again, or at least is suspected of it, and do you know how crazy todd gets? He calls jerry and talks to him about it calmly and with civility. Then he calls jerry to apologize for asking him about it, and jerry continues to work on the farm and with todd where jerry said everything was normal as could be between the, whew…this guy is a raging psycho just ready to unleash…with a corn rake…on a murder they’d have you believe he planned for 2 years…just waiting for the day his wife had a surgery that would make her dizzy one day so he could sprint across the farm in under a minute to kill her while his son is right there. How or why any attorney would allow his client to take the stand, I'll never understand. It's just "not done". How an entire team of them could let this happen is craziness, but in this case, the more the prosecutor grilled away, the more detailed the picture became. The truth stared everyone in the face. The defense should have summarized it, spelled it out for the benefit of the jury. They should have backed it up with measurements and illustrations in their closing argument on behalf of their client, but they didn't. They were unprepared and missed the boat so shamefully, they might as well have phoned it in for all the good they did. Although he might have been found to be at fault had this case been tried in civil court, this man is clearly, not guilty of murder. Even when the prosecutor examined the witnesses, the testimony still supports this conclusion. The verdict in this case is just such a shame.

I'd think waiting there for an ambulance would of been more suspicious being it wouldn't be fast knowing that to where the person has a better chance on dying than trying to rush to get to the hospital. The only thing that bothers me is the biting of his lips when asked serious questions. Some say that this is a sign of washing away what happened. This guy has an alibi. He was with his son Tristan. When listening to the 911 tape and the Prosecution insisting he was calling her a whore is unbelievable. The tape is not audible well enough to come to that conclusion. The fact that he teared up when speaking of the event is a sign that he didn't do this. I believe she fell twice on the fork. Once when trying to pull it out , She might of pulled it out and fell on it again. There is reasonable doubt here and this guy should have never been convicted. He is reacting the way an innocent man would react under the circumstances. Of course, this is just my opinion. The fact that he and Tristan were together that morning and he went into the house to change boots and Tristan went to check on mom says it all. My opinion is that this guy didn't do it. From witnesses testimonies, she seemed to want every excuse as to get out of this marriage. She seemed like she was a marter. No intention of damning the deceased, but this guy forgave her and even apologized to the man and his wife his wife had an affair with. He was willing to go to counseling, etc. Doesn't fit the profile of a vindictive man ticked off about an affair. It is possible that Tristan, (not to blame by any means) might have tried to pull the fork out to help his mother and she fell on it again. More than reasonable doubt here folks.

The other two puncture wounds did not impale her at all and have a unique shape, position and distance between each-other and in comparison to the four other ones,so that means they were caused by another (or two other) object and these most likely were auger screws because the DA said there were auger screws on the ground on that day so...

@shadowrdydr1 hahaha ha really? Moron. You don't fall on a pitch fork that is sticking up out of your back. Plus she was stab 3 times. The hubby did it. Deal with it. He is lying thru his teeth.

I haven’t gotten to the end of this trial yet. The prosecution is terrible so far. Duh, yes we can use each other’s accounts for searching the net. The interrogation was BS. And how can they decide that Jerry and his wife are in the clear because they gave each other an alibi? They did not mention checking out their alibis. So strange. And the search for DNA without approval? Is that the son?

Guilty people usually don't take the stand. Todd deserves a new trial on appeal because this case didn't present the whole truth and just convicted him where there is doubt beyond reason he killed Amy.
