@@NowinLao correct, big finger me, speak Lao (medium/Isazn stile), not low or the not north (LuangPrabang). She at a memory loss recovery for me.

Great location to the Hmong New Years celebration. The hill top overlooking a community below and the expansion of it. So many people there all the lovely young lady in traditional garments. What is with the ball tause at beginning. Single female looking for future husband ❤❤. Hopefully everyone is having fun. Hello now in Lao couple I’m been waiting your show for a while I enjoy watching a good things you done for anyone communities but just angry and sad the Lao Hmong man beaten his wife in the same new year and you guys didn’t see it’s really scary and clueless that people didn’t stop that guy before she got hurt so bad now she still in the hospital and got some help from traveling people oh Jesus I pray for gods to heal her pain hope she get well soon and love your channel I live in USA with my beloved husband for 30 years and I’m Hmong and his American mix Mexican so that’s why I love to watch your channel so be safe wherever you go, good luck 🍀

Hi Guys. Great to see how the Hmong know how to keep their cultural difference alive. It reminds me that although my family are not Hmong I should make an effort to get up the road next year and see it for myself. Great black and whites again, you really should consider a book, I am sure many would be interested.

It changes every year. This year it was from the 10th Jan to the 17th. Note: this was for the big festival in Phonsavan. Other villages may celebrate it on different dates depending when they had their rice harvest finished 👍

What side of Phonsavan is this held as it is doing our heads in as having been there only a couple of months ago? Is it the same side of the plain of jars Site 1? When we were there in October at night it cooled down ol mate but Craters looked after us.
Did you stay at Jennida? If you did, looking at the hills out the back you can see the crowd. Yeah.. opposite side to the Big Buddha and POJs 1

Wow. The sights and culture of the Hmong are so alien I can’t take it all in. Can’t look away either. Even though it’s only two dimensional from here. I’m such a dog person that it’s hard to watch some other Hmong market channels showing the dog heads and puppies for food and such. Such a juxtaposition with beauty and what looks brutal to my western conditioned eyes. Maybe you’ll explain but thus far I don’t understand the ball toss.
Ah the ball toss.. It is a fun way to find a prospective partner. If you're interested in a girl you can stand opposite her and toss the ball while chatting. I guess it breaks those awkward silences. Many Hmong look for new partners this way during new year celebrations
Just so you know, majority of Hmong people don't eat dogs. It's the 1% group that eats it. Don't generalize all Hmong people as a whole just because some of them eat it. Not just that, you'll see more dog eating in countries like China and Vietnam.
Hey greenman4508! Ball tossing happen only once in a year, especially only and during "Hmong New Year." The more you catch the ball means you welcome New Year, the less you can't catch the ball that means you leaving old year behind. I'm glad you ask that question. Every group of people have their own culture belief. For example, I never and don't believe that God exist but mankind did exist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mate, would you have a contact number for a guesthouse up in Long Tieng you could share? I"m in Phonsavan now and want to see the old secret airbase if I can. But no info on the net or locally about guesthouses to make reservations up there. I taught English to Hmong refugees 30 years ago so would love to see where it all happened.
