I'm not a camper. But my brother & his wife bought a brand new decked out glamper 4 yrs ago. I wished them well, but had doubts. I was so wrong. They have used that camper on several trips every year. Their kids are teenagers now & still love camping with the parents. Because they home school, they can take off any time of year & see the country when places aren't over crowded with tourists. I hope you have years of wonderful experiences & make happy memories. 😊 they loved South Dakota, put it on your list
We are from TN and S. Dakota is always one of our favorites as well as Wyoming (love the people there... never met such nice sincere people), Colorado is always a favorite too.
I had serious buyers remorse the other day also. I was all ready to sign a 12 month lease on an apartment I hated!!! Had the money order in hand ready to make the deal. That morning at 630am my Dad called because he did not want me to go ahead with it. I agreed immediately! I did not get the apartment and in the end God provided the perfect apartment that I really wanted the next day. Listen to your gut-instinct! And wait 24 hours before making big decisions/purchases. So glad you were able to get out of the bad deal and into a good deal!
This thing happened to us with an apartment we thought we liked and made a deposit on. Something really bothered me and I can't put a finger on it! But we prayed and the Lord led us to withdraw from contract. Few months down the road my husband had an injury, was immobile for a while and had to go through surgery. It would have been so difficult for us to be in that location with a toddler far from any grocery, drugstores and clinic had we pushed through and ignored God's given wisdom for us. ❤
@@dimplevillareal7856 We had something similar happen, we were looking for a larger home in 2007/2008 and already own a home. My husband loved one in particular and although I really did love the house and property and knew we had renovations to do and we could do most of it ourselves, my gut was telling me no. We entered into a contingent contract on the home, continued to show our home and I was praying we did not get a reasonable offer because I kept feeling like this would be a huge mistake but knew as long as we abided by the contract and did not refuse a good offer we could back out after the 30 day contingent period and get our money back. When the contingency period ended we did back out and I am so glad we did. We kept an eye on the listing for any price changes and I saw a correction on the taxes in the listing; they went from $8k to $11k for the prior period, which is over what we wanted to pay for taxes (mistake in the listing). We decided to take ours off the market, renovate our existing home instead (baths, kitchen, doors, windows, etc.), and stay in our home until we were ready to look at a later time if we were still interested in selling. In early August 2008 I broke my leg in three places in a horseback riding accident, we took guardianship of our seven-year-old niece a few weeks later (we do not have kids), and a day or two after that my husband was released from his job with a package. All of that was bad enough, then as we were nearing the end of our renovations and preparing to refinance, pay off the zero interest short term loans (playing with other peoples money), and put in a basement (phase2) the market fell out on housing and everyone started losing their jobs. It took my husband a year and a half to find a new job, things started to look a bit brighter, and six months later I was released from my job of 11 years. We would have lost everything if we had gone forward with the purchase of the other home due to the job loss alone and we would not have been able to sell it when the bottom fell and home prices tanked in October. Always follow your gut instinct. Lynn
Having a husband that can do just about anything is a blessing! My husband is a Ford Mechanic and said you have a special Excursion there Tom if you want to keep it running longer, stop hauling the trailer with it. We were hauling our 30ft trailer with my Expedition but knew it couldn't be a forever deal and then an F350 was gifted to us and that's what we haul with now.
We had this floor plan for several years and found it helpful to keep a storage ottoman in it. It provided storage, helped to climb to top bunk and was an extra seat at dinning table. :) happy camping!!!
We own a Heartland Big Horn 5th Wheel. We are not new to camping. This was our 5th camper having had 3 pop ups and two Travel Trailers previously. Spent the big pile of money for it. No regrets here, well maybe one. We live in New Hampshire and the camping season only runs from May through October. We don’t move it around. We are seasonal site people due to the lack of a truck prepared to pull a 5th wheel. Congratulations! Enjoy your new camper!
When I was a kid we used to go camping in a huge tent with "bedrooms" (smaller compartments hung inside 🙄) and a "kitchen" which was a just an extra section stuck on one side 😆 We would drive 24hrs from UK to the south of France;4 kids and 2 adults in a Ford Cortina estate with a homemade trailer dragged behind, and a roof rack 😳 UK holidays were mostly packing up a soaking wet tent in the pouring rain lol but I remember our holidays were always awesome, and we have some great stories 🥰
We live in south east Florida, we cured that musty smell by leaving all 3 roof vents open year round of course with maxx air vent covers installed on all 4 campers we have had in the past. They need circulation. Great video :)
Growing up we tent, then cab over, then pop up, then rv. So I’m restarting back at tent camping with my family and hoping to move towards something with a generator in it because our daughter has medical needs- once we pay off our wheelchair van (we only had to finance half! Thanks to a great used car company that adapts them for cheaper, some savings and a few friends and family donations)
Our state has a 3 day rescind period. So we can change our mind, if we rethink things. Yay! We had a Passport Elite that we absolutely loved. I cried when it was flooded in our campground by the river. (The first flood in 37 yrs of camping there). It was only 3 yrs old. 😢. Sheri
When they’re older& want their own space, a tent can be an option for the kid(s). A good air mattress & they have their own home! A really nice trailer! Just ready for homey touches.
I love that you found what looks like the perfect camper for you! It feels like a relief, and you can have fun adding some personal decor touches without a lot of effort. You will enjoy this for many years to come, I think!
Thats a great layout for a camper! Tom you could always get a Blackstone type flat grill to put on the outdoor kitchen. We have one and have never had any flairup.
I'm glad all ended up well with the new camper, congratulations!!!, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give yourselves a break - live with it for a year before doing anything major decor-change-wise. As Tom says at a few points in the video, you're CAMPING, it's okay if things are not perfect and designer-pretty.
Congratulations! Because you travel and camp I think you made a great decision to get the best camper you felt comfortable affording for your family. Wishing you many great trips and memories and good luck with the Excursion. 😘😄
Congratulations! We just picked up a used 2002 Jayco Pop-up travel trailer last weekend! It is in excellent condition and we only want to make a few updates, but It has been raining constantly here in the Chicago area so we have not been able to open it up and air it out and get inside since we got it home. We are very excited as this is our first RV.
We have a similar Passport and love it. The outdoor kitchen is great, especially for our family of 5. We purchased a Rubbermaid storage container with a lid that fits perfect on that top shelf in the outdoor kitchen. We use it for s'more sticks, pot holder, and pie irons, as well as outdoor tablecloth and table clips. It's easy storage and keeps things contained. Enjoy your new camper!
We live in FL and everything smells like mildew when it’s been closed up too long because of our humidity. Maybe having it in your dry climate will fix that!
Exactly! My in-laws live on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia and everything there smells like mildew! Keeping the camper in the shed and airing it out well before any trip should help a lot. Also someone mentioned charcoal absorbers and those would be worth trying.
@@cynthiafisher9907 I just checked the weather network for Minneapolis, MN - Humidity - 35%; and Jacksonville, FL - 94%. So I would say more than a little!! LOL
We spent years camping with our 6 kids in a truck camper and/or a VERY SMALL travel trailer to which where we lacked storage we put things in plastic stackable totes and placed them in a small dome easy pop-up tent when we got where we were going. [Clothes totes around the perimeter makes room for a private changing area!] It worked so great that we later used another small dome tent for our own porta potty outhouse. Consider giving yourselves some time (1-2 years) without making any changes and see if your family can come up with creative out-of-the-box solutions! BLESSINGS on your grand adventures ♥️
Dawn in yellow?? Lol! Enjoyed the video! I hope your trips are a blessing. This makes you all seem even more relatable. Once me and my husband laid on a mattress of a certain color…. At a home and garden show. We signed for it and everything it would be about two weeks till we got it. We had never bought anything so expensive or new. We couldn’t sleep that night of course was it the old mattress or the $5000 dollars we signed for? We cancelled the next day! Learned our lesson!!! I spent 2 weeks shopping at clearance furniture stores and buy as stores and found a deal just as comfy and all the bells and whistles for $2000. We sleep great!
I remember camping in my great-grandpa’s truck camper as a kid. My parents were squeezed onto the dinette bed and us 4 kids were all up in the over cab bed.
Thank you for sharing, this info is vital. There is almost always a 3 day cancellation clause, meaning you can cancel up to 3 days after purchase without issue. I have owned several camper, from pop up to small travel trailer, to larger trailer (bought new), to small rv to larger rv. I'm out of that phase now, hotels are great for my husband and me. Enjoy and safe travels!
Big mistake….at least it would be for me. RV dealerships or car dealerships are a trap for me. So I avoid them! Domed roof! Excellent! That will help keep from having water leaks as much.
I just envisioned having someone drop you off at the dealer's so that you can show up with no wallet, no ID, nothing that would enable someone to make a purchase 😂
Our camper has quick connect propane hookups back by the outdoor kitchen. It has a swing out cook top and griddle that connect to them but I bought a weber portable grill, removed it's regulator and bought a conversion kit with 12ft hose to connect it to those quick connects. I also bought the stand for the grill and this gives me plenty of distance from the RV for safe grilling.
I'm 36wks and nesting so your videos are helping a TON! But my husband comes home one day and said, wait are we moving?😂 and then last night he goes, one day you're going to have consolidated so much that you'll start storing the salt and sugar in the same container 😂💀
😂 Oh boy! 😉Wouldn't that be fun?! You couldn't even color code that mess. You could, however, put them in bags first and then put them in the same container. If space became an issue, though, I would probably do salt and pepper bags together.👍 LOL Bless his heart, my dad was making sugar cookies once and mistakenly grabbed the salt... He was so upset!! 🤦♂️
It's probably been said but just buy a nice griddle for the outdoor cook top. Check all the seals and reseal all the seams. Make sure the tires are still in good condition after sitting outside in the heat. Love the camper! It is very similar to what we would like to get!
Personally, I would use it multiple times before investing the time and money to make changes. Like you said, it's luxury compared to what you had as a kid. You may even discover that you love something about it as is that you originally were not too sure about.
We are on our 4th camper and it’s a huge modern farmhouse style Jayco Eagle 330RSTS and we LOVE it. We checked off all of our boxes when we bought this one. Our kids are adults now and they rarely want to go camping so we upgraded to a model with one bedroom and a huge living kitchen area with recliners and a sofa bed, huge fridge and a fireplace. It has the bedroom that slides out and a walk in shower. Yes the same layouts are available in multiple campers. We bought the last 2 campers of ours new and would never ever buy used again.
Dawn, I hope you read this. There is such a thing as some people being mold sensitive and it could be that Tom is. They call these people canaries because they can sniff out mold in places whereas the normal person can't and is not affected by it.
Unfortunately I’m one of those….can smell EVERYTHING. It’s SO annoying! Getting some of those charcoal odor absorbers should make a world of difference.
I shuddered when Tom mentioned mold. We are getting rid of 2/3 of what we own because of toxic mold in our bathrooms. Every single person has food sensitivities, my husband is allergic to corn and mold in foods now and we will be several years or more in healing. We are taking the entire summer to deep clean mold spores and mycotoxins out of our house so we can sleep in our bedrooms again.
My kids have a bunkhouse suite!! It’s massive (for campers). Seriously though, that was our top priority feature when we were shopping. We have 4 kids too but two are little and two are teens. We knew they needed their space. As well my son has a mobility issues, so crawling into a bed or climbing up a bunk wasn’t an option for him. So glad you found the camper that works for you!!
I'm so glad you guys found something you love! There's nothing like it when you finally get that thing that you've been wanting for a long time! Just happened for me with a car I purchased last year. Was able to score a gently used convertible that was in like-new condition/low miles for only 4k. Every time I get in it, I just say to myself, "I LOVE my car" I've had it for a year, and I STILL love it!
Totally loved you guys. Amazing job on the video. Appreciate that y’all were so down to earth and real. We all have budgets bills families etc.... I’m like Tom I won’t sleep knowing I can do better and when I have a gut feeling watch out. I won’t let it go. Congratulations on getting a great deal and getting exactly what you want. That’s pretty rare. Thanx for sharing.
I thought I spied two campers in the background of one of Tom's videos. Now it makes sense! Maybe they got this before the other had been sold/picked up.
My favorite thing is watching you two laugh together and obviously love each other! It's almost impossible to find a couple like you!!! So valuable to me!!!
Patience & diligence pay off! Have a great time enjoying your new camper! Years ago, when our kids were very young (preschool), at a marriage retreat the speakers advised camping as a way to have real family time. No or limited screen time is something I would add to modernize their suggestions. We did have a small TV back in the day, in our pop up camper that we pulled out on rainy days. Camping creates moments for great family discussions as well as many many memories to talk & laugh about for years to come!
Bless you two!!!! After watching your videos, we are camping right now! 😊 Renting, thankfully! I have to say- I agree with your seller. Camping is a true struggle. It is cramped, hot and a ton of work. We even rented the biggest RV we could, since we have 4 kids as well!! 😳 I don't believe it feels like vacation at all. Because of you, we had RV renovation dreams which now are null & void! 😆 Building a cabin in the "right" woods (our climate is way too hot here; we need to buy in the mountains) will be much more our speed! Bless your adventures & work ethic! 🥰😆
I’m SO glad you were able to get your money back on the first one ! We are full time RVers and we had mold in one of ours. We found out that you’re supposed to re-seal the roof every 3 years. We’ve always done that and had no problems whatsoever with any of them !!!! Such a minor thing to prevent SO many bad things. I love your new camper and hope you enjoy many many years of fun 🤩 !!! ❤️
We have cooked next to our camp trailer & we got a bunch of spatter on the siding. We have a road trip grill which we really like & can be placed anywhere. We also take a folding table for an electric grill. Also 2 folding chairs for extra seating inside besides whatever outdoor chairs we want. We tow our camp trailer with a ‘95 3/4 ton Silverado 4/4 p.u., which we’ve had since 2005. We did replace the transmission which has been our only repair.
I love camping. I've camped for 50 yrs. My parent's took me camping as a child & then I camped with my 2 children. It allowed us to see the country frugally. KOA's are very family oriented and clean. My children are 30 yrs old now and still lovely talk about all the camping adventures we had with such joy. Happy Trails!! I saw a camper with a sticker "I go where I'm towed"🤣
If sleeping together is hard for the kids (one of them could be a painful toss & turner), you could always get a long pillow to go in the middle. I have one that I got at Target for $45 - super comfy. I am so glad you got out of that first contract!
If I had to guess where mold/mildew is, go into master bedroom. Open cabinets beside the bed. Up in top corner of cabinets is where it likely is, if you feel it smells stronger in bedroom than elsewhere. On roof where fiberglass meets rubber is likely intrusion point, if cabinets area smells. Nice camper and layout. Best wishes
So glad you found a trailer that works for what you need.....and that you don't have to do anything to the inside!!! Yay!! Just go and enjoy it. Not every trailer is meant to be "remodeled". If you take good care of it, it will stay in good condition for years to come. We had our last motorhome for 18 years before we finally had to trade it in this year. The dealership was impressed with how good we had taken care of it for all those years. Happy Camping!
We have a 2005 Keystone Montana fifth wheel that we love. My husband worked road construction for 15 years and lived in it at the site. It still looks like brand new. We love it.
Idk exactly how they got out of that contract, assuming Tom got on their LAST nerve and they finally gave in. (Personally did this once on a regret RV purchase so I get it).
We’ve got a 1969 security traveler, 23 foot, and we love it. It’s not fancy, and we’re definitely cozy at night, but we’ve made so many good memories with our 4 kids. I hope you have lots of fun in your new camper too!
Love your videos and can I just say Tom...you are amazing! Totally understand the buyer's remorse and your great wisdom. You have amazing skills and are the best to be so flexible and willing to work things out as a couple. You bring so much to the marriage & family! They are so blessed to have you!
Awesome find! We looked at the Coleman version of this floorplan and loved the closet at the entry. We ended up with a used Rockwood Hybrid which was a bit shorter and lighter.
So happy you found a camper that works for your family!! We took several trips out west in my in-laws RV (sleeps 4) with our four children and made it work and we all have great memories, even though the sleeping wasn’t ideal! 😘Love how open you all are about your life and faith!!
@@Stumpybear7640 I think they were both thinking logically about the layout they wanted, and then the sales people specifically didn't fully answer their question about the layout existing elsewhere! My rule for big purchases (especially if you're not on a time crunch) is to go home and think on it a bit and then go back soon after to make sure you still feel good about it. So glad they were able to get their deposit back! 🙏🏻
I grew up in a house with one small bathroom (5 ft X 6 ft) one little sink and there were 4 people and we survived. Our neighbours had 11 kids and two beds and no indoor bathroom. Camping is all about memories and the stories your kids will tell will be wonderful years from now. Sounds like you got the rig that is just right for your family.
So happy and excited for both of you….. the entire family! I grew up camping…. Yep, the station wagon with wood panels, pop up trailer, canoe and fishing gear…. after we (three girls) could drive manual cars, change tires, check the oil, use tools, garden and cook….. and we were in our teens, my parents did the cabin and boat (we enjoyed skiing and tubing, and then later the pontoon…. leisure picnic boating, If you will )….we were far older by then and starting families of our own….. My husband, was raised and pampered at resorts, and not a big outdoors person…. While I did the boy scouting den mom and troop committees etc…. for our boys, he did the pampered Girl Scout events! Both my boys completed Cub Scouts, and the oldest is an Eagle Scout….. now 23….. he is soon to hike / backpack through Yosemite with two other Eagles he met in collage…. Yep, bring on the bear spray, water purification supplies, and dehydrated meals…. A bit too much for me…. I’m getting old!! Camping has always been part of my life, and being out with nature and appreciating all God has made and provides, and sharing that all with family and close friends is priceless! Proud of you! ❤️✌🏼🙏🏼
We have a Keystone Springdale for the two of us. We love it. For us, the design is what we fell in love with. I love the rear kitchen. Best extras we purchased were top quality Sway Bars, wheel chocks, extra long sewage hose, the vent covers for rooftop so we could travel with the vents open. Only thing we hate, and I mean hate, is the Short Queen bed. We are taller people and wider girth. I sleep on the dinette bed and hubby on the queen. Ugh! Be sure to have the roof checked every couple of years and have it relined or whatever they call it so you don't have any leaks. Check out the Lancaster, PA area and all their camping spots. We love that area. Lots to do, food is great, and people were super nice. Have fun.
Tom, you know that it doesn’t matter what is said in the comments - Dawn does what she wants. 🤣 Love the new camper & I’m wishing you great travels with it! 💓
Updates for me on this model would be: Blackstone grill tucked over or near the outdoor kitchen; Turkish towels in the bath (color coded & one per child) ; bedrolls or sleeping bags ; outdoor RV mat to keep dirt out: and a splurge would be a SOLO stove for smores & such! I'm SO excited for y' all ......as a "Nanna" I'm just encouraging Dawn to "go for it!!"
Use the Damp Rid hangup. One in the shower and one over the kitchen sink. Check often. Keep the doors to bathroom and bedroom open. That stuff works for us. We have used these in all 3 of our campers.
I would like to see how you organize everything in your trailer; especially since I also have a Passport (different model) so we have some of the same nooks and crannies.
I'm glad you guys love it! We're looking right now and we have 3 kids the same age and a teen. There's no way we could have them sharing their personal space all of the time.... the arguing and fighting is just insane. So we're looking for a large bunk house 5th wheel. One of my musts was not turning a common area into a bed, too. It's just too much to have to do everyday to convert beds and unconvert them.
Sandra Westley from the UK all kids love camping and you will find that they will get on much better when camping, they’d have to get on here as you cannot have a RV or trailer longer than 20 ft by 8 ft wide, our roads aren’t wide enough to take bigger rigs.
Excellent choice. Kids can sleep head-to-feet, rather than head beside head; this gives more elbow room for each. Especially handy if you give each child their own sleeping bag. As our 4 kids got older, they were happy to sleep in a small popup tent or even in the truck which had a simple shell. This one should last a long time!! Happy trails & have fun making memories.
I'm So glad you were able to back out of the original contract. There are so many brands out there with similar layouts. This is pretty much what we are looking for. We're hoping the big rv show in our area gets scheduled this fall so we can really get that spacial awareness so we can understand all the sq footage
Our camper, Florida Panhandle resident here, has a stuffy smell as well when it’s closed up. We use damp rid to help pull moisture when we’re not using it.
This was so much fun to watch! We are all the same. We just had electricians at our house only to find that "we" had not flicked the breaker switches back on properly!!! But they did fix one light in the hallway while they were here, and we have made the connection with them for next time. So there is always sun behind the clouds - even clouds we gather for ourselves. Glad you found the camper you wanted.
Put an air purifier with a HEPA filter in it....that should take care of the smell. I use a GermGuardian. Also Zeolite will absorb odors and it is reusable.
We took out our outdoor fridge and put our camping grill in that space (for travel) and have the quick connect on the bottom of the camper that we can plug into with it. Then we put it on the picnic table or the ground to use it. We are going to get a small camping table soon to put it on. Then we still have the burners, but not the fridge which we didn't use anyway. Just a suggestion.
I like it too, my camper is older but we over made sure not to leak. We had to put a new floor in it, but this model is known for needing new floor. Had it for 3 years already
Awesome 👍🏼 intuition is God letting you know ☺️ I wouldn’t do the grill thing though.... I can only imagine the intense heat doing something to the lamination more than anything... btw it’s beautiful !
We’ve also had experiences where we’ve made decisions without “sleeping on it” and have come away feeling sick about our decision. In our 40 years of marriage we decided long ago, that if we can’t sleep on it, then we won’t buy it. Happy trails with your new camper 🤗 Dawn….enjoy your camper, let it percolate for a while before you start making changes 👍🏼
We are waiting for a custom designed(my own) thru Taylor Coach. The size/width/length/bathroom/etc/everything!! WITH a 4 year warranty😍 We had a used(7yr old) one(3rd owners)that we went 12,000 mile trip with, with no issues except the plastic latches that clip the cupboards open needed replacing and the propane hose looked original with cracking - so we replaced it. But was so pleased, we ordered our own design..and we get it this year!!! It is so exciting!!!! 🙋♀️🇨🇦❤‼️
My early experience camping was with a tent, then an over-cab camper (also no heat, no a/c, no bathroom or shower) and we had a lot of fun and great family adventures!
This is very similar to the one we have. We went to look at a used one I said it was like going to the pound we were coming home with a “puppy” but it has been a great fit for our family.
So glad you followed your gut. I watch all of the Haylett RV TH-cam videos and have learned about the problem with shopping at Camping World from another TH-cam source. Congratulations! We just bought a used Rockwood Mini Lite this year and are so happy. Enjoy!

Yes, South Dakota has lots to offer and is right in your backyard.
That sounds awesome! I don't like camping, but for those who do, that's the way to do it.
Yes! The Badlands are THE BEST! AND you can Boondock there!
I love South Dakota

We just bought a 17 year old camper for $4500 and we love it! I'm looking forward to getting it a bit updated but I sure love it.
Solid Camper if it’s that old with no water problems
When I was a kid we used to go camping in a huge tent with "bedrooms" (smaller compartments hung inside 🙄) and a "kitchen" which was a just an extra section stuck on one side 😆 We would drive 24hrs from UK to the south of France;4 kids and 2 adults in a Ford Cortina estate with a homemade trailer dragged behind, and a roof rack 😳
UK holidays were mostly packing up a soaking wet tent in the pouring rain lol but I remember our holidays were always awesome, and we have some great stories 🥰
Love this. Inspiring.
We live in south east Florida, we cured that musty smell by leaving all 3 roof vents open year round of course with maxx air vent covers installed on all 4 campers we have had in the past. They need circulation. Great video :)
Maxx air vent covers. Yes! Great for circulation when it isn't used. Keeps vents safe from rain. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
😢. Sheri
No Dawn. No. Don’t change a thing. It looks amazing. Congratulations you guys.
Don’t change anything. Just enjoy it. Changes can come in a few years. We bought brand new one last Spring and we are completely in love with it.
What did you buy?
@@annemitteness7426 keystone hideout
@@bethmason8736 No real issues to report? Happy with the quality?
@@annemitteness7426 no issues. Love it.
We are picking up a used but never used travel trailer tomorrow. We could not be more excited. 😜
thats what we bought as well. saVe a little on it but still fresh and new!
🍀Good Luck🍀🤞🙏
CONGRATULATIONS!!
I don’t think they live in a dry climate.
@@cynthiafisher9907 probably dryer than Florida, though. ;)
Exactly! My in-laws live on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia and everything there smells like mildew! Keeping the camper in the shed and airing it out well before any trip should help a lot. Also someone mentioned charcoal absorbers and those would be worth trying.
@@jemma50 Probably a little anyway.
I use box baking soda in the fridges after wiping and drying. Use a new one each time you store it 🙂
Big mistake….at least it would be for me.
That's clever!
😂
🤣
It's probably been said but just buy a nice griddle for the outdoor cook top. Check all the seals and reseal all the seams. Make sure the tires are still in good condition after sitting outside in the heat. Love the camper! It is very similar to what we would like to get!
Personally, I would use it multiple times before investing the time and money to make changes. Like you said, it's luxury compared to what you had as a kid. You may even discover that you love something about it as is that you originally were not too sure about.
It’s hard not to customize when you have the ability. The problem is the weight
it ads because things aren’t heavy or very durable in modern RV’s.
This is good to know! Thank you!!!!!!!
Unfortunately I’m one of those….can smell EVERYTHING. It’s SO annoying! Getting some of those charcoal odor absorbers should make a world of difference.
That would be me. I can smell mold a mile away and my husband is clueless. It’s the thing I’m most allergic to and that includes all molds.
Me too! I'd get a dehumidifier in it, it's great that Eric has the expertise to help!
I was waiting to hear what all painting and remodeling you’re going to do to it. Maybe not this one? It does look really nice as it is.
I'm so happy that you found the right RV for your family.
Enjoy!
Wow! You guys kept this new camper a secret from us for a long time! Here’s to many great memories for your family!
I thought I spied two campers in the background of one of Tom's videos. Now it makes sense! Maybe they got this before the other had been sold/picked up.
My favorite thing is watching you two laugh together and obviously love each other! It's almost impossible to find a couple like you!!! So valuable to me!!!
I love your sense of adventure and many happy family memories to be made here!
We have an arm on the bumper that holds our gas grill you can see if it is something you can add.
Please use it as is this year, then decide if it's worth the hassel of remodeling.
Best wishes
SO happy for you guys!
You will make wonderful memories with your kiddos!
I LOVE your new camper! Can't wait to see all the great memories you make in this one with your family. Dawn, that yellow is so pretty on you!
We have a 2005 Keystone Montana fifth wheel that we love. My husband worked road construction for 15 years and lived in it at the site. It still looks like brand new. We love it.
The "Goldilocks Camper?" Nice job going with your gut on the purchase.
I thought the same thing. The Goldilocks Camper. They could name it Goldilocks.
They could have a stuffed Mama Bear for a mascot😉😉🤩
Yes my thoughts exactly
Idk exactly how they got out of that contract, assuming Tom got on their LAST nerve and they finally gave in. (Personally did this once on a regret RV purchase so I get it).
Always... always do your reviews and research beforehand
We’ve got a 1969 security traveler, 23 foot, and we love it. It’s not fancy, and we’re definitely cozy at night, but we’ve made so many good memories with our 4 kids. I hope you have lots of fun in your new camper too!
It looks great! So happy you found the "just right" camper at least for now!
“Just Right” JR for short! Great name for a travel trailer! 😁
Love your videos and can I just say Tom...you are amazing! Totally understand the buyer's remorse and your great wisdom. You have amazing skills and are the best to be so flexible and willing to work things out as a couple. You bring so much to the marriage & family! They are so blessed to have you!
OH I’m so happy for you and the new memories you’ll get to make with this camper! I love how you’ve made time together a priority in your family. ❤️
We have this same camper only a year or two older. We love it! We have three children. It is the perfect size!! I hope you enjoy it.
"Don't go in the a tigers cage and think you won't get bit."
Good sales people are good at what they do....SELL you STUFF!!
So so true! Unless you’re going in with the intent to purchase stay away or look when they’re closed or on line. Learned this the hard way!
Check to make sure the septic tank is really clean
Our camping as kids was a canvis tent. Don't touch the sides in the rain
Love the new camper & I’m wishing you great travels with it! 💓
Exactly, Kristina! ;) Besides, it's important to put your own personal touches on it to make it feel more like camping 'home'! ♥
We have a 2021 Keystone Hideout and love it. We are a family of 5 and are living in it full time while our house is being remodeled.
My home was locked up for 6 mts & honestly it had smell not being lived in. Good luck ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'm so happy for you. We did almost the very same thing this year. We got a Keystone as well. They great floor plans. Happy camping.
We take a couple folding chairs to put at the end of the table which gives us more seating. Just fold them up when you’re not using them 😁
Excellent choice.
I'm
So glad you were able to back out of the original contract.
Loving being apart of another camper adventure with you guys. So much easier than getting our own 😆
This was so much fun to watch!
I’ve heard there is an attachment to put on the bumper in the back for a grill if Tom wants that.
We have one of those. It swings out from the bumper, so it moves away from or trailer.
Happy trails with your new camper 🤗
Dawn….enjoy your camper, let it percolate for a while before you start making changes 👍🏼
So relatable buyers remorse 😖love you guys together in vids always feels like a bonus!
I love how Tom keeps resurrecting the Excursion! The camper is great! The side outside kitchen is soooo nice! Love y’all!
I just love your videos. You’re two are so relatable and sensible. It’s just nice to see. 💕
Try lavender air freshers. They repel pest and bugs but improve the smells.
Also damprid help with musty odors
My early experience camping was with a tent, then an over-cab camper (also no heat, no a/c, no bathroom or shower) and we had a lot of fun and great family adventures!
Happy for you guys! Looks like God is blessing you!
Love the new camper! We were the family in tents on the ground, WATCHING others in campers with water and kitchens!!! AND bathrooms!!! Enjoy!
So happy you found one that works tor you! It looks really nice!♥️
This is very similar to the one we have. We went to look at a used one I said it was like going to the pound we were coming home with a “puppy” but it has been a great fit for our family.
For the love of everything good, leave the camper as is, it's beautiful and has nice finishes!!! :P Change it next year. LOL :D
Nope change it
So glad you followed your gut. I watch all of the Haylett RV TH-cam videos and have learned about the problem with shopping at Camping World from another TH-cam source. Congratulations! We just bought a used Rockwood Mini Lite this year and are so happy. Enjoy!
