Am I remembering wrong? I thought you could only cast spawn broodling on organic units?
@@rayzerotnah you can use it on pretty much every ground unit, even the fenix boss from bw campaign lol
@@rayzerot No, Robotic units like Reavers are immune though for obvious reasons. Thors, Siege Tanks, Goliaths all have someone driving them that can be turned into a broodling. SC2 units that would be immune would be the Colossus and I think Cyclone(?).
Very cool to see the community getting frustrated waiting for blizzard to balance and just deciding to do it for themselves. It'll be cool to see SC1 vs SC1 on the SC2 engine eventually.

Starcraft 1 is still the Starcraft that I play 20 years later. I've only watched Starcraft 2 so this is an absolute blessing of a Mod to watch!

About the "useless upgrades" Lowko mentioned at about 40:00. It's not about their uselessnes in Brood War. It's all about the timings and how the builds are layered. Backing in the Shuttle speed upgrade would make the Shuttle Reaver builds come online much earlier thus making them way more devastating. There would be timings where thre would just not be any counterplay at all. And making the Shuttle take longer to build and/or cost more would also potentially devaluate Mass Shuttle play in the mid-game with Templars. The same can be said for the Siege Mode or Ultra plating. Early game Tanks are used to ward off early game aggresion without siege and the complex micro dance with Dragoons is a part of it. Earlier, cheaper Siege mode would eliminate that whole interaction. Making Siege tanks cost more or build longer to compensate would mean that Terran will have to take more expansions faster -- and that's not a race that's notoriously hard to expand with in several matchups. Ultras with the upgrade would just immediately massacre Marines without +2 upgrades themslves. The thing is, even 20+ years later Brood War is a much more precicely tuned game than SC2. I'm not saying that means it's better balanced, mind you. I'm saying that what may have worked with almost constant tuning of SC2 over its lifespan dos not apply to Brood War. The logic and consequences are just not the same.
I started playing Starcraft 1 when i was 6 years old. It is so amazing seeing and hearing all the sc1 units on the sc2 engine. Awesome stuff!
I also got used to the visuals of the SC2 siege tank, but I do miss the sound effects of the SC1 tank. The thundering quality that the siege attack sound effect has is unsurpassed by SC2.
I never really thought about it before but that seems to be a thing with SC2 huh? Upgraded visuals, downgraded sound effects?
Brood war has better unit voice too

Looks like it either can't hit Thors or only does like 300 damage to them.

1:40 you don't need much creep in SC1 anyways, as AFAIK it did not boost speed in SC1.
It actually does nothing for the Sc1 zerg in this mod either, other than allowing zerg to build of course and I think Sc2 zerg would benefit from enemy Sc1 zerg creep, which actually makes actively spreading creep a bad idea against enemy Sc2 zerg. In fact, engaging Sc2 zerg off creep is the best idea for Sc1 zerg!
I thought it boosted the natural regen of units in SC1, but upon looking it up it seems I'm getting that confused with blight from the undead in WC3.
Does the creep provide vision in SC1?
@@rayzerot it doesn't neither in SC1 or SC2. What actually provides vision in SC2 are creep tumors, which do not exist in SC1. They had Creep colonies, which provided vision like any other building.

SC1 Queen’s Nest is a circular dome-looking like structure. Seems like they are using a different asset. Even for the sunken colony. It’s different. That one came from the SC2 asset from the campaign.

My takeaway from the few games I've seen of this mod on your channel: if you play the sc2 pieces, you should be much more aggressive. Sc1 races feel way slower but once they get going, they are quite strong. Love the mod videos, keep em up lowko!
If you infest a planetary fortress with a queen, it should keep its cannons lol

Ngl I think not mentioning that spawn broodlings one shots a unit is a bit of a miss in the first cast, you mostly just say that they're throwing broodlings around, but the broodlings are the least important part of the ability

Nice, now mutalisks can finally mute again, that was the reason it was called mutalisk in the first place.
Even though these games weren’t balanced FOR eachother, you can tell each faction has tools for different scenarios. So it just kind of works.
SC 1 mech is different than SC 2 mech, but each race has a strategy to address mech. Loving this mod.
I love the Defiler and Sunken Colonies
Vultures have such a power boost in this mod, their damage against most targets was basically doubled. On a unit that was already this strong and cost effective it's a lot. Their interraction with dragoons is completely turned on its head.

ah those queens lording over the hydra push, could have been picking away at the army ; they weren't doing a lot on offense once the base race began but he still won

The thing about Queens in SC1 is that it doesn't have the SC2 QOL for casting. They get much better when you can cast from a single queen while a group is selected.
I feel like currently the key here for SC2 races is to do their usual builds that include heavy worker harrass. SC1 races just have fewer tools early and also not used to starting with 12 workers, while SC2 builds are basically unaffected.
Would be nice to see 2x2 games in this mode, but it's only allowed to be 1 race per team. So it would be something like SC1 Zerg + SC2 Zerg against SC1 Terran + SC2 Terran, for example, then we can have ultimate battles between the starcraft races with both advantages and disadvantages of both versions of starcraft!
I've played starcraft since it's release. The most efficient way to spread creep was with static defenses. Not only does it spread creep, but it also gives you map sight and pings when you're being attacked.

you forgot one queen ability: infest command center, which it looks like he was trying to use at 15:34 it doesn't show up as an ability if i recall correctly but if a command center is in the red of it's HP a queen infests it and takes it over at which point it can create infested terrans.

Wait, I saw some previous videos that had the sunken colonies looking more like SC1's. Why is it back to the SC2's Sunken Colony look?
Because obviously this is older video.
Remember, three vultures cost 225 minerals, but two stalkers cost 250 minerals and 100 gas. Losing 2 stalkers and a probe to 3 vultures is a very bad trade. This happened at 27:37 just look at the minimap (remember, Lowko has vision of both players). It goes dark except for the pylon. Lowko missed this event when he thought the battle was over and moved his camera, but I had already seen this match on harstem's channel.
So if you ask me, I know they're not equivalent as tech structures but I think the BW version of the Twilight Council is the Arbiter Tribunal.

The Zerg actually were originally the tyranids. StarCraft 1 was originally meant to be a Warhammer 40k game but they couldn’t get the licensing.

I found BW zerg has a hard time against SC2 Terran Bio ball. They just don't really have a way of dealing AOE until defilers

Hydras + queens is great anti mech composition. Terran was too passive though.
i guess you forgot flying units are a great target for zergs in SC 1, they had terrors back then, so anything what flies dies fast

I think making BW Terran 'Siege mode' makes it more true to BW, even it makes BW Terran "less powerful"

I'm honestly surprised how no sc1 Terran has used Lockdown until now. Just make 5-10 ghosts and lockdown HPTs like Colossus and maybe immortals in a deathball.

I think the sc1 spellcasters are so strong because sc1 units are harder to control so spells have to be more rewarding
No kidding. What's that, you didn't want all of your templars in this control group to storm the same spot? All your battlecruisers to yamato the same target? Have fun spending more time individually selecting each unit out of the control group before using their spell.

Question: Due to zerg (StarCraft 1 version) having fast attacking units (zergling, hydralisk) do you think mech armour and bio armour could be more prioritized?
I think one of the greatest things about this mod is being able to wath broodwar legends fight against sc2 legends
I am waiting for someone to actually use DARK ARCHONS! Nobody seems to think they'd be any good, but I think they'd be super busted. Maelstrom specifically.

its funny how everyone tries to talk about brood war as a superior game that "never needed balance patches"....they port it into the starcraft 2 engine, suddenly they start having to make changes to it. almost like the reason it "didnt need balance patches" was because 60% of playing sc1 is fighting with the game to do what you want

It's very difficult to get rid of parasite but aside from killing the afflicted unit a medic can cleanse it off

Hopefully SC1 Zerg Queens force more Skyterran and air zerg comps just to force some more variety. Then again, SC2 Ghosts are going to become 100x better just for shutting down the giga-broken SC1 spellcasters.

Zerg look like Tyranids because, if I remember correctly, in its early alpha Star Craft was a game base on Warhammer 40k. Look on line for the very early Zerg images. They look pretty much like Tyranids.
Tyranids became Zerg and Eldar(Craft world is good Protos) became Protoss, Teran, well Ultramaries are easy to se on basic blue Terran
