  • Speaking on the appointment of judges, former Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Rohinton Nariman said that while the entire system that exists today was not per se bad, it was not being followed properly or working how it should be.
Nariman said that the inefficiency of the system was brought out when the government sat on appointments of some judges. He also added that the system had failed by not elevating Justice Akil Kureshi to the Supreme court.

Had Justice Rohinton Nariman become the Chief Justice of India, the evil designs of the executive would have been definitely defeated. Amazed by his present scholarly speech which deserves to be applauded.

If the present opposition parties to come to power, which is bound to happen today or tomorrow, the first thing they should do is to make our constitutional bodies as much independent as possible so that the ruling parties cannot subvert their independence.

Is judiciary functions in accordance to its mandate then more than half of the legislative will end up behind bars.

Whay=t a joker this Rohinton is...Selected judiciary will always throw up such a gem- colonized Parsi priest who presided over the Sabrimala case - when he had no idea of Hindu customs, practices, traditions, etc.

He sounds like he is educated fair and considered man just exactly the characteristics of a respectable Judge. You sound petty and ignorant. You do not need to know the religion of the parties or be biased like an arrogant politician to oversee fair dispensation of the justice and law under India's constitution. FOOL!

@@shortclip9382 Why should an ordained Parsi priest judge the Sabrimala case. Why was he allowed in the first place? This is not the same thing as a country being run by Hindu rituals.

A Pleasure to listen to Justice Rohinton speak ex- tempore and fluently. He knows the history of judges too well. Had he become the CJI, the SC would have stood high in respect in the hearts of Indians. He is right when he says that when you excel, you are .......

U dont need such a loy of.time and money to decide. Forst every case must go to judges in a round robin system no manual allocation of judges to cases selectively. Everything else will fall into place

😂😂😂😂 Mr. Rohinton could not be appointed if Mr. Sr. Rohinton would not have been there.... the only country where judges appointed their own sons or daughters or nephew or niece or near and dear or juniors or known persons.... nothing but nepotism, lobbying for their own people.... except this profession of HC and SC judges everywhere, equality in profession is maintained, and they are happy at it....

It is always a treat to hear justice Nariman. But suggestion of Justice Nariman does not seem to be great. There should be examination for recruitment for High Court judges. At least 50℅ weightage should be given to that.. remaining weightage sshould be given to vague things like integrity, independence , orders etc. Indians are so baised on the basis of region, religion, caste etc that even retired judges can not be relied upon.. A bengali will prefer bengali, a muslim will prefer muslim, a pandit will prefer pandit..
