Noting that there is bluetooth, am I right in assuming that I can pair a bluetooth kb to the TM-7 as would make the use of messenging for instance, easier!
They definitely have a place, I use Zello quite frequently on my phone on my private channel when I am put of range of my repeater. Speaking of which, there is a dedicated Zello Gateway box to create a RoIP repeater, or ways to use phone/cable/radio to create a popup repeater which can really come in handy. Other than that, it can also be fun to just chat on it was well. MY problem with the current Zello devices, as well as actual radio phones, is that they are mostly stuck in 3G. Because of my work, I currently have to leave the house with 3 devices: Phone, Bluetooth PTT for the Zello app, and my 2 way. I would LOVE to consolidate, but I don't see me going from LTE to 3G. Yes you CAN get 4G and LTE devices, but I also don't see me paying $600 for it either. Cheers on the vid.
Hey, yeah you're right I think it has it's place. It's great to chat to my ham friends without having to watch the etiquette of radio haha. I agree on the 3G thing and no the price isn't worth it. I've seen a nice Zello device with a built in UHF radio which is next on my list. Stay tuned :)
I never knew you could save messages or review received messages when you came back to the radio. I personally think it adds to real radio. It wont replace it but is another string in the bow of personal communication.
Yeah I agree Fred, definitely has a place in the hobby. I thought this series of videos would really bring out some hate but people are really positive about this sort of tech. I've a new one coming soon, UHF radio and Zello PTT in one :) Stay tuned
I use Zello a lot. I think the mobile radio profile would work very well in the home with WiFi, or better yet, put it in the car and use it with the hotspot feature on your cell phone. You can do Echolink mobile that way or use it as a mobile scanner using Broadcastify..
It is a good thing it wont replace my amateur radios but have these along side lets admit android there’s a lot more to it it’s about time they did something like this to show how flexible it is i want one or two my self and it would make a good Christmas present something different to play with
Can you make your own channels? do you use callsigns? - i dont understand all you say, i am from Finland - i have just ordered this, the 3G version, its all new to me! - greets, Levi
Radio phone is a great option if I had been better informed of it capabilities, could it have the actual functionality of a HH or just a hybrid of a smartphone? I would rather carry around both devices than have half the capabilities of the two, is the Zello Snopow or any other you would personally recommend? Cheers.
Great radios!! Thanks for another good video. Maybe you could chair a Zello Meet up Lewis?? Set a time and date?? An make your own channel. Be nice for your viewers to say hello and talk to other people who watch your videos!!
Thanks, Great Video! Although I keep hearing people saying "its not Radio" - Would love to see someone operate one of these things from within a Faraday cage just to see how they fare on that one ;) ...No, seriously, I get what they mean, but I think this essentially makes a great hobby far more accessible for a ton of people, and that can only be good, right?
Ringway Manchester EE have just released a sim deal that is £17.00 for 500mb a month for 12 months... A one of payment can last you a year... Not a bad deal... Alternatively, 3 do a sim only deal where you can add credit for data and what you don't use just keeps rolling over. Try and avoid the "bundles" as they tend to expire after 30 days.
Ringway Manchester I see one of these in my future then. It's all very well the purists knocking these but if they want to come and sort out the noise, planning regs, neighbours and position of my house then I'd be able to use all of it. Thanks for the video 👍
Zello runs on any smartphone or tablet, so why do we need this particular device? The screen seems to be too small to be useable for functions like the onscreen keyboard etc... Just curious.
They are way tougher than a phone you can use it with gloves on . It's cheaper than a phone. The battery lasts longer. It's just a newer version of Nextel
Hi. I've just started experimenting with Zello which is a bit of alchemy for a dinosaur like me that found 2m and 70cm cutting edge back in the 70s. Any recommended channels and what do you use? DE GW6APS.
Good morning Lewis, This is a Superb video demonstration mate, can you list your favourite Zello groups please? as that would give me a head start as a new user. Thank you for your time and your effort, Warmest regards Joe G7kdz.
Ringway Manchester I’ve just got the Inrico T320 - it’s got 4G and personally, I think it’s a bit of a failure as a phone. Great for Zello with the PTT. I’m very new to this and bought it based on your videos (which are great) but I’m struggling to find any decent groups - the Sussex Downs one has been very hit and miss, there’s some strange people on their constantly playing music or going into fantasy rants!
Ringway Manchester ,giffgaff not too bad for zello after 10pm but when the kids get out of school the network seems to become so slow it's virtually unusable. Are there many people that have switched to these radios for zello? They seem a great idea.
Noting that there is bluetooth, am I right in assuming that I can pair a bluetooth kb to the TM-7 as would make the use of messenging for instance, easier!

Ringway Manchester will definitely be watching out for that.
does this mean that if you add a data sim from tmobile orspmrpnr cheap, will the zello work for thousands of miles vis the internet ??
Dose this radio work with the new Midland CB talk app?
I never knew you could save messages or review received messages when you came back to the radio. I personally think it adds to real radio. It wont replace it but is another string in the bow of personal communication.

Yeah it opens up a lot of doors doesn't it!
LuV zello.... what u think after 4 years? Thanks for infovideo..🤙🙏

Great radios!! Thanks for another good video. Maybe you could chair a Zello Meet up Lewis?? Set a time and date?? An make your own channel. Be nice for your viewers to say hello and talk to other people who watch your videos!!
Thanks Paul! That's definitely something I'll look at sometime for sure, great idea! :)

Cheers matt! Great point!
Doesn't anyone remember Nextel? Same thing just a more evolved iteration.
Ideal for logistical dispatch
Any chance you could make a video demonstrating echolink
I sort of get it more now 👍
If this is made for IOS can someone please let me know where I can get one.
i have the tm7 and when I try the zello app it just keeps downloading the same thing happens with the IRN app
Need help
Andy
Hi.....what simcard would you use in the uk? any ideas of deals etc or can you use your existing sim card i’m on 3uk with unlimited data?
cheers
Gaz
I just use an EE sim but I think any will work
Ringway Manchester EE have just released a sim deal that is £17.00 for 500mb a month for 12 months... A one of payment can last you a year... Not a bad deal... iD SIM only deals are good. I pay £7 each month for a rolling contract with 2.5Gb of data, which rolls over. Is on EE network.
Added Zello on tm7 and I keep loosing touchscreen function while in zello
Lewis, i got a problem..i dloaded zello etc..but it wont key up off the ptt.what can i do
Sounds silly but is your mic pushed in all the way? Mine was quite hard to get in
Yep tried it 5 times..gone to the echo ..its doing nothing..
only got it today..grrr frustrating lol
Hmm not sure what to suggest
When you create a new channel can you make it private so no one can listen without permission?
Yes you can
Can I use Echolink on this?
Yes you can
Ringway Manchester I see one of these in my future then. It's all very well the purists knocking these but if they want to come and sort out the noise, planning regs, neighbours and position of my house then I'd be able to use all of it.
Thanks for the video 👍
Does the PTT work with the Zello app now ?
Yes Rick
Thanks for your reply,M6EXT

You're absolutely right but they're nice to have seperate to your everyday phone, and you can't have to many gadgets
They are way tougher than a phone you can use it with gloves on . It's cheaper than a phone. The battery lasts longer. It's just a newer version of Nextel
I use Hubnet at home as Im not in a position for antennas. Im an M6....can I access Hubnet on this device?
Great stuff Martyn, I think you can through teamspeak but I'm not 100%
73s from GW6APS :)
Cheers Neil!

Hi Joe, thanks! I use outpost radio network and sussex downs radio link the most

Interesting devices ;-) Cheers
Cheers :)
I find zello works terrible on giffgaff, much more stable on 3.
No issues on giffgaff this side but cheers for the heads up

The only trouble with it is no control over users. anyone can use it,
That's true
you can make a private channel with a password so only the people you let in can get in.
