I unplugged my skimmer since using arid. This thing is a beast of nutrient control.

For a $500 reactor, naturally, you have to buy the calcium reactor attachment seperately.
    It's very pretty, though.

Con you grow copepods in this? Or how would you grow pods in your tank with this in your sump

I just purchased the n18 model. Can I use this in conjunction with a Nyos carbon reactor?

It blows my mind when I see one of these in a sump that has plenty of room for chaeto to simply be grown in the sump itself.

Roller mat and skimmer, don’t see the need for a fuge as I wipe NO3/PO4 as is. Seems like balanced systems only need 2 main methods of filtration imo. But these things are super clean!

Thought an algae reactor was a good idea, read all the DIY reviews, but when i watch their more recent video's from a year later or so hardly anyone is using it anymore.
Opening/cleaning/maintaning the can seems too much hussle.

It's definitely more frequent maintenance than just ripping some out of an open fuge, but there are a few distinct advantages if you use them in a reactor. Definitely not for everyone, but for those who want those extra benefits (in my case, the plan for this Pax is to get that CO2 reduction of Calcium reactor effluent) it is a really impressive piece of gear!

    Good video
But product placemnt and pricing is rough as there are DIY and even some on the market near exactly the same if not *opinion* better and is sub 200$ most cases.
There are however features that are notable but not worth the price hike over other options.

If you have room in your sump then use that. Algae reactors don’t have much room for actual growth and are a pain to use. A decent grow light and a pump for extra flow and to tumble the chaeto is more effective and almost zero maintenance. If you have no room than a reactor can be useful but opening it up regularly gets old :)

NOT paying over $500 for an algae reactor.

It's great and well built but yep £300 max would pay £500 plus have to buy a pump expensive and tubing

Flashy, sleek, overly expensive for what it does... yup referring to this as a "super car" is very appropriate

2000+ PAR? Really? Sounds like BS to me. *Maybe* if you add the PAR measurements (taken point-blank) of ALL the LEDs together...
How many LEDs are on the tube? With such a small cylinder in the middle you're only getting a handful of LEDs. Wrapping it around the outside of the reactor would provide a lot more space for a lot more LEDs. How many watts/amps does it draw from the wall? 0.5A/60W or less? Guessing

I bought one of these, and would NOT recommend it. It's more work than a scrubber and more expensive, just for the chance to grow Chaeto instead of GHA

LOL, I saw the $500-$1,800 price tag for an AIO refuge and said NOPE. This is why we buy made-in-China products like Jebao, I'm not overpaying for "PRIDE" LOL.

@Volatile ReeFer so you're a sucker for marketing hype

    • @robertt8874
      @robertt8874 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Volatile ReeFer my "pride" remark nothing to do with BRS, it was directed at the manufacturer, lol. The marketing slogan "built in the USA" to charge a premium has nothing to do with retailers.
I hope your "White knighting" for BRS built on assumptions gets you a discount anyway, lol
