    Very interesting!! Creation is amazing! Not good news on the wether though. The winters that we’ve had days of freezing temps and snow have been the best for my bees once they’re heavy and healthy. I have almost 50lbs of fondant standing by. Thanks for sharing Greg!

      I’d love a good hard freeze and temps that stay cold until spring!! Sure is rough on our critters w these rollercoaster winters.

    Nice job on the forecast brother 👍 I've had similar results following the Woolie Worm here. Good health and God bless 👍

    I never go with the superstitious view of the colors of a wooly caterpillar, I wait for the REAL winter weather forecast and see what the persimmon seeds looks like! Way more scientific!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂

    We have the same hillbilly superstition here in NW Pennsylvania. Seeing the same colors on the woolies here.

    My Wooly uses Weather Underground :) Insulate the heck out of our hives along with plenty of extra sugar feed.

      Haha!! I’ve threatened to move my bees north or south to escape the roller coaster but I suppose everywhere has its trade offs.

    Bees do far better in a colder winter than warmer...my 150 naturalized colonies here in Baltimore City are ready to go...the southern garbage swarms that I get calls for never survive beyond December

    I saw one a week ago that was solid black, not one section of brown. I hope it is not an up and down like we've had, and it's just cold.

      I hate that roller coaster weather. It's a lot harder for us and the Bees. KY gets similar weather. Usually I see the Woolie Worm but haven't seen any yet this season. 👍

      I get pretty superstitious with these. I wait for the messenger to arrive on a hive, in a hive or on bee equipment. I’ve seen 3 identical in a hive, on a hive and this one on frames in the shop.

    It really was a great video Greg! Overwintering colonies is so nerve racking, I always worry if I did enough for them. Did I test and treat as well as I could have, did I give them enough feed to get through winter. Here in Tennessee my preference is to overwinter in a double deep if I can just for the insurance of all the extra food. I’m going to keep up this season with the numbers of days I see them on the wing through winter. But there has been warm streaks when I’m putting open feed out at the middle to end of February just to give them something to do, I hate that part. The way Ian steppler does it where he locks them up for the winter out of the fields and he can walk them daily if he wants would to me be ideal. I literally walk paths through and across the yard from checking landing boards daily. Making sure everyone is where they belong and happy happy happy.

      Hey pal! Yeah wintering in rollercoaster environs can def be stressful! Hope you come out of winter busting at the seams!

    Nice forecast. The animals know . My bees have propolis everything. Even the upper entrances, I have seen the bees do this when preparing for a cold winter. This warm spell I have feed them over 250 pounds of sugar in a heavy syrup. The pollen sub is going too. I think in the North we will have a bad winter. I will follow your advice. I will prepare either way, mild or cold. Thanks for great videos

      The animals def know and long gone is the art of reading them and the signs in nature. Hope you and your bees have a good winter.

    Mine is on the hives now and u are right they are eating it now good video thanks we always have up and down temps, here in Virginia and they have broken cluster only to be caught out side of cluster when the temps drop and they die wish there was something I could do to stop/ help this not to happen. do u wrap your hives there. some times I do and some times I dont, I wrap because It gives me a peace of mind that I have done every thing I can to help them I know Bee keepers that have colder temps then I do here they do not wrap and there hives and they are fine Like Bob Binnie, Kamon They say dead mites good nutrition and healthy bees and they will live , That worm u were looking at I would see them when I was a kid but have not seen one of them in years. Have a great week

    • @NaturesImageFarmGregBurns
      @NaturesImageFarmGregBurns  ปีที่แล้ว

      We don’t wrap here for fear the wrap attracts too much heat causing them to break cluster prematurely and for ventilation concerns. But e Regine does things a little different. Whatever works!
