You should fire your scouts that are worse than a C overall. You have a couple C- and D graded scouts. They might be good in that region but their ability to scout individual attributes is poor. Also you can double up scouts in regions to find even more players or have more in depth reports. Works well for regions with the most prospects. Like having 2 or more scouts in the OHL will help cover more prospects in that region. Since you have finances off you might as well have all 20/20 scouts as well. Currently you have 17.
Yes Johnny short changed himself by not utilizing his scouts better. Its a great addition to the game. Also use your rookies in preseason; they grow from those games.

Even Chicago is missing Ian Mitchell (who possibly signs with them this season) who is a top defensive prospect and has killed it in Denver. College and USHL guys are non existant since EA cant get a license for them
I have 2 scouts in Ohl, 2 in whl, and 2 in qmjhl. This works perfect because 1 scout can look at all the players and the other can scout specific ones you want him to!
Eh he never really was an offensive power house. He's always shined as a good 2 way that offers that defensive aspect. That being said... his line has been dysfunctional for a few years.

Johnny, if you wanna stay competitive and still try to get younger, scout a guy like Timothy Liljgren, Victor Mete or Miro Heiskanin. Toronto and Dallas are usually contenders and Mete could be a cheaper offensive PP Guy to pick up.

It's literally for the first 2 years rebuilding the defense, then rebuilding the offense after. You can trade centers for wingers first year, cause the center core is incredibly deep.
I started a Franchise as Ottawa and used Tuner v1.00 (pre-release version) to make the A.I. better/smarter, then edited the Sliders to make the game more difficult (making attributes matter more, making CPU more difficult to play against) then instead of simulating games, I go to Play Game, Position Lock as Coach so I can edit strategies and lines, and just watch the games. So far, we're 4-0 with only a couple goals against and 3 goals per game average. And this is with Stock Ottawa, not making any trades or changes except for a 77 OVR created Defensive Defenseman that I based off of a Women's Team Russia player who averages nothing but a penalty per game on the 3rd line (so her being there doesn't give an advantage). Not sure how this team plays this well, but it's crazy how teams simulate so differently. Hopefully this Chicago series goes well; can't wait to see more.

As a Hawks fan, I've been waiting for this series for years so I'm so excited. I just hope he consistently uploads but considering the game just dropped, I think he'll be consistent at least for the first GM Mode
Peep116471 Exactly. I'd rather see him do a team that NEEDS a better future than a team that already has one handed to you on day one. Nucks are one of, if not *THE* , easiest "turn-arounds" in the game. Sens (no high-end prospects), Hawks (cap and prospect issues), and LA (cap and prospect issues) are the biggest train-wrecks to fix for one reason or another while Nucks, Flyers, Sabres, Canes (despite their recent garbage moves IRL), and AVs have the most promising prospect pool and picks to make.
Got to try use the New young NY Rangers, with new rookie head coach david quinn! The next steps are going to be crucial in their "rebuild", while still being competitive. It can go either way, one wrong turn and the organization is set back another 10years. Glad you're back doing videos man! You're the 🐐!👏👏👏👍
Kane will score 80+ points for basically the rest of his career, Keith will retire around 2020/21-2021/22. Borqvist will be about 80-83 overall by then and will grow quickly following that. Also, Scandinavian players seem to be top picks nearly every season so there's that.
Scouting is huge in NHL 19 if you are playing with fog of war. You should run 8 pro 12 amateur. Always try to replace your D level scouts even if they have A's in a region because the scout's overall level matters how fast they scout. During the season, always view the draft when central scouting updates their reports. Sort by Potential and for only the Elites pin and view their player card. You can manually scout them for potential. You can unPin the Top 9s and Top 6 D players that you previously scouted. You can have as many pins as you want. Doing this you can get 5-8 low elites pinned/revealed during the draft. Sometimes even a lucky franchise hidden as HIGH potential in Top 9 F, Top 6 D, or Starter.
Cammerllari in previous games when I did GM modes was phenomenal in a PK2 Line. Dont know how he would sim this title but i tend to keep doing what works. Never trying to tell others how to play, just throwing out ideas.
Ryan Scherbluk As far as I've noticed, it does nothing for the simulation and any difference I might have noticed, would be minimal at best and purely coincidence. The only way to prove it, is to look at code or ask a developer and hope they know of care what they're talking about.

According to hockey news, he is Chicago's third best prospect overall. Please add him as it will create a more realistic Franchise Mode
Enjoyed the video. I've found that, in the past, incorrect positions in NHL does affect player performance/behavior to a degree, especially when simming. So, for example, while you are playing Debrincat (pronounced Deh-brin-kit) on the wing (he is primarily used as a RW), NHL 19 has him listed as a Center (for now). Going into rosters and actually changing his position to RW should help him take more shots and get more goals via that second line.

One thing I have noticed, prospects grow A LOT faster in this game, so Boqvist at a 69 right now might grow to an high 70s next season (and I once saw him as an 89 overall 60+ PTS per season dman)

In my Islanders Franchise Mode I have three goalies to chose from with only one spot. First two listed have an “Elite Goalie” role. 88 Overall; MED Franchise; 24 Yrs Old 87 Overall; MED Elite; 23 Yrs Old 86 Overall; MED Elite; 22 Yrs Old. I extended the first one to a huge contract. The second one is locked up for another 2 years at a good price. The third one is looking for 10 mil for 1 year but I can’t afford it. Who do I choose? I’m definitely going to trade the non-starters for a backup and picks
Johnny if you have the scouting budget, sign another scout for the ohl, whl if you can. 2 scouts in the same region will give you absolute gems in the later rounds of the drafts and really does give you some very nice building blocks for the future. dont sleep on goalies in later rounds either.
Personally just ran a Blackhawks GM mode on NHL19 and made the mistake of not trading Seabrook year 1. He declines after year 1 to a point where he is untradeable even if you stack assets with him, retain salary, and only take a 7th round pick. And he also stays in the NHL for the entirety of his deal, so you need to trade him NOW to avoid dealing with him in the future
I've done a few runs through franchise familiarizing myself with the scouting system, I think your missing USA central scout, but the main thing I've learned is letting the scouts auto scout does work and is effective however, manaully setting each amateur scout to scout "potential and comparison" players specifically up to cs ranking of 128 will guarantee you know every players potential in the first four rounds of the draft, making plenty of room for trading down and getting more picks for best players... I've done about 7 entry drafts and now my team is stacked with young med elite players all throughout the franchise too many some could argue.
In previous years, Schmaltz has ALWAYS been an extremely potent playmaker for me. Just something to keep in mind. Him & Debrincat might be a good combo. Not sure how Debrincat sims though.
Debrincat (Duh-brin-kit) should be elite potential because he was the Blackhawks leading scoring last year and was going to be a lottery pick in but his Size held him back
@@spazzticzeal6238 I usually run 1-2-2 aggressive. 1-3-1 neutral zone. About 4/6 towards forecheck. Aggressive offense pressure, Puck Side Attack D pressure & Staggered zone D. Blue to Blue breakout, Center Lane Option, Stay Wide.
If you are on track to make the playoffs keep anismov. If not trade him. If you decide to keep home then you could trade in the off-season for a prospect on the wing are maybe a young winger who is ready now e.g. yanni gourde you might need to throw in a second or third to make it go thru
Here's the real challenge Johnny, make some trades to get this team into the playoff THIS YEAR, without giving up the veterans (as many as you can) and without giving up the future prospects.
Saad needs first line minutes, I got him to grow to an 87 in two seasons from putting him on the first line with Toews and Debrincat (which is pronounced Duh-brin-Cat) Debrincat also grows very well on the first line as I got him to an 86, growing these two players is a good option because by year two Toews usually is down to an 86 already and Debrincat is still young and could be a first line center. Kane on the second line right wing with pp time keeps him scoring a lot and he can boost other players that struggle to score on the second line, like if you had mike on the second line with Kane mike will score more off Kane. This is kinda what the hawks do in real life

Johnny if you have the scouting budget, sign another scout for the ohl, whl if you can. 2 scouts in the same region will give you absolute gems in the later rounds of the drafts and really does give you some very nice building blocks for the future. dont sleep on goalies in later rounds either.

Personally just ran a Blackhawks GM mode on NHL19 and made the mistake of not trading Seabrook year 1. He declines after year 1 to a point where he is untradeable even if you stack assets with him, retain salary, and only take a 7th round pick. And he also stays in the NHL for the entirety of his deal, so you need to trade him NOW to avoid dealing with him in the future

I've done a few runs through franchise familiarizing myself with the scouting system, I think your missing USA central scout, but the main thing I've learned is letting the scouts auto scout does work and is effective however, manaully setting each amateur scout to scout "potential and comparison" players specifically up to cs ranking of 128 will guarantee you know every players potential in the first four rounds of the draft, making plenty of room for trading down and getting more picks for best players... I've done about 7 entry drafts and now my team is stacked with young med elite players all throughout the franchise too many some could argue.

In previous years, Schmaltz has ALWAYS been an extremely potent playmaker for me. Just something to keep in mind. Him & Debrincat might be a good combo. Not sure how Debrincat sims though.
Check that Attribute Effectiveness slider. Gotta bump it up one or two more to get the good teams playing well.
Debrincat (Duh-brin-kit) should be elite potential because he was the Blackhawks leading scoring last year and was going to be a lottery pick in but his Size held him back

@@spazzticzeal6238 I usually run 1-2-2 aggressive. 1-3-1 neutral zone. About 4/6 towards forecheck. Aggressive offense pressure, Puck Side Attack D pressure & Staggered zone D. Blue to Blue breakout, Center Lane Option, Stay Wide.
If you are on track to make the playoffs keep anismov. If not trade him. If you decide to keep home then you could trade in the off-season for a prospect on the wing are maybe a young winger who is ready now e.g. yanni gourde you might need to throw in a second or third to make it go thru

Saad needs first line minutes, I got him to grow to an 87 in two seasons from putting him on the first line with Toews and Debrincat (which is pronounced Duh-brin-Cat) Debrincat also grows very well on the first line as I got him to an 86, growing these two players is a good option because by year two Toews usually is down to an 86 already and Debrincat is still young and could be a first line center. Kane on the second line right wing with pp time keeps him scoring a lot and he can boost other players that struggle to score on the second line, like if you had mike on the second line with Kane mike will score more off Kane. This is kinda what the hawks do in real life
Also keep Boquist, grew to a 90 for me in year 2
