Here's a protip for this game: if you're playing on an MSX2+, you can press F1 on the title screen to activate full-color mode, which adjusts the color palette to show a deeper, richer range of colors. It looks REALLY GOOD in the caves especially, as that red lava practically leaps off the screen.
Funny enough, I've just recently played through both the Super Adventure Island games and found myself wishing they'd done something more interesting with the Tina character. Looks like these guys read my mind.
Thanks for the review! just to clear things up, the game performs smooth scrolling if a V9958 vdp is detected (MSX2+/TR or an upgraded MSX2). Regarding the enhanced palette, you can use it with MSX2 and up.
I only recently got a copy of this myself. I have to check that it is only a MSX 1 title, they have done such a good job with the scrolling and it plays really well too. Have to keep playing it, lots of levels to get through :)
Then the main heroine would have been Tanya Tom-Tom's girlfriend and Tom-Tom oh sorry Mot-Mot would act as her mentor I rather want to see this on a NES
Well, there were several MSX2 games (most of them in screen 4) that used the "set adjust" feature to move the screen horizontally. Some examples are Chuka Taisen (screen5) and Super Cook (screen 4). Since you still had to move the whole screen every 8 or 16 pixels, it was quite slow for screen 5, but really doable for screen 4

This looks like it's actually closer to Adventure Island 2 and 3 on the NES
I'd love to see this ported over to the Master System... that way I could play it! :P

Imanok = Konami Backwards, Ironically!!!
@Hamtaro
OMG how can i not seen this?! x|
It appears to have scoppy scrolling on the MSX1... Anyone knows about MSX2?
...choppy
It's using msx 2+ hardware scrolling. Msx2 only has vertical hardware scrolling of I'm not wrong.

Tasos Rizopoulos Interesting. I'll check it. Thanks!
Silky smooth on MSX2+. There's a special color palette, too, that you can use if you have an MSX2+ or higher that looks absolutely gorgeous.
