    Which soap do you think will be the best?

      Got to go with Dawn becuase that's the only product I have at my house, so I hope that's all I need!! PS. Always listen to your wife LOL

    yep either works very well and there are three tricks for optimal performance, one of them being detailedin the video. The first is to not use water to remove the soap after application. The second is leave the soap on the glasses for at least 3 minutes before removing (the longer the better). The final trick is to continuously do this throughout the day, as the main goal is to create a protective coat over the lens, which will only be better following re-application. And the reason why I have faith in this process is due to me depending on it for extreme cold weather hiking: those who are aware know that eyeglass fogging from col weather is much worse than that from wearing a mask.

    Using Dawn, it works pretty well in a less heavy duty condition, but in a real heavy duty condition, the condensed water still piling up on your lens, when there's too much water, it starts to form into water drops and rolling down from the top of yours lens, and leaves a water mark on your lens, eventually, still can blur your vision.

      Mine too. Unfortunately, lens coatings don't work well with any anti-fog product. We'll be looking for something that works better, and I'll let you know!

    Cool experiment. I was hesitant to try this but now I think I'll give it a shot. It's very cold in Canada during the winter but I want to have fresh air and walks so I am going to give my balaklava another shot with this trick.

      That's why I stuttered after I said it because I instantly replayed it in my head and thought that's a terrible thing to say!! I think it came to mind because we were working with soap, but it was still to funny to cut.

    Great info here. One question: Did you apply Dawn to both sides of the lenses? 👓

  • @kweenjade01
    @kweenjade01 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Don't use soap as it has chemicals that eat away at the lens (over time ofc). If you have any kind of coating (scratch resistant, anti reflective, bluelight) etc it's a NO

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the soap, but I'd agree, don't use unless it's an emergency fog situation. 😉

      I was amazed at how well it did also. Remeber these work well on glasses without antiglare coatings, so if you have any glasses or friends looking for a solution becuase Dawn couldn't save the day for them, then point them to this video: th-cam.com/video/njMLZ3AyXWs/w-d-xo.html

  • @fossil956
    @fossil956 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Poor AR coating. Crazing will happen to these glasses after long use of soap.

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're right, but it depends on the soap. Stay away from soaps with alcohol and ammonia! But if you do have crazing, most opticals will replace the lens for free within 1-2 years of when you bought the glasses.

    I don't know what I did wrong, but the Dawn didn't work for me. I applied it & let it set for about an half an hour before wiping it off and I tried it again, wiping it off right after applying it.

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometime the coatings on your lenses don't allow the dawn to work. Check out my other videos where I compare coated lenses vs non-coated.

    How long will dawn last before you have to apply more

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have found that Dawn works best on lenses without an antiglare coating. Other than that, it lasted on some of our glasses for 2-3 days. I also wipe my glasses constantly because I'm a little OCD, so it didn't last long on my glasses.

      It was not bad, but for what ever reason, the recommended white bars seemed to work the best! Again, this is for glasses without coatings. I have not had issues with ruining my coating with this method, but the anti-fog effect just doesn't last as long. My last anti-fog video shows what works best for coated lenses.

    I'll try it out. Do you find it irritates eyes?

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do not, and have not heard any complaints. Just be careful applying it to your lenses, so you don't have a mis-squirt and shoot it in your eyes!! 🤦🏽‍♂️

    • @ProFitHearing
      @ProFitHearing 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TrueFocusEyeCare Yes, that would irritate your eyes. What do you recommend for an eye rinse (should that happen)?

    • @TrueFocusEyeCare
      @TrueFocusEyeCare  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bottled water is probably the cleanest water you can find quick and on hand. Cold is fine, but room temp is best. Simple saline is also good, but some of the added preservatives can also irritate the eyes. But I hope you never have to go through that pain!

      It did work great, but found later that it works best if there are no coatings on the lens. Most of us have anti-glare coatings, so we found one that works really well for coatings in our last video of this series.
