The app is good to set up the features and get notifications of completion. I don’t know anyone who drives across town to start their dishes whilst at a cafe. So some is nonsensical and some features quite valid
Thanks for the video. The connection app was DRIVING ME CRAZY! Thanks for telling us how it REALLY WORKS, as opposed to how Bosch SAYS it works! Crazy!
This was super thorough. Thank you! Just a couple things I noticed from other videos, is one of Bosch's videos says there are three different versions of the top tray available that can be used, depending on which one suits your needs best. Presumably you can use the one that came with your machine, but if one of the other two designs works better for you, you can purchase it as an option. The tines in the basket that can fold and be adjusted are in a darker gray than the rest of the baskets. Also, when you adjust the height of the middle basket you can do it on just one side if that helps to fit a particular item. Both sides don't need to be equal. Another video said the door may not open for the air dry feature immediately when the cycle is finished, it waits for the optimum air temperature (inside or outside the machine, or both?) for drying, and THEN opens. I watched another installation video that didn't even show using a level in any way, so that was a very good tip. All of this was super useful, and really, after seeing this one, I really don't think I need to look at any other videos, as I am getting ready to go in and purchase this dishwasher tomorrow end of this was beyond belief thorough and useful. Thanks again.
Thank you for such an excellent video. My home is about 10 years old and the dishwasher that was installed originally is a cheap Frigidaire and its heating element stopped working. I am considering the Bosch 500 that seems to be a nice unit at a reasonable price. I have a quartz countertop, but it doesn't have the mounting bracket that you described. Prior to this video I wasn't aware of this bracket so I will try to install one.
Thanks for the video. Just had the kitchen remodeled & I bought this exact model (59 yrs old & this is my 1st dishwasher) The info was very helpful, especially the connecting of the wi-fi.
Thank you. This video was very helpful. I just replaced my Bosch dishwasher of 24 years with a new Bosch 500 series. Never had to have repair in 24 years of service. The circuit board went out so I replaced. Thanks again for your most excellent video. 😊
800 dries better and cleans a bit better but is about 700 more in my country. Imo 500 is a good in between 300 and 800, and door self opens to help dry
I see the feature to the door to open when dryer is a option . I was scared this was always because I read some ppl mentioned their cabinet doors were having issues in guessing due to the heat/moisture. I'm looked to get one at Lowe's they have a 10% plus install return back to you as a giftcard. My prior bosch had a leak and I haven't purchased a replacement in 4 years..I'm getting sick of doing dishes lol
Yes I’d believe it could be possible if it were recessed on a countertop with plywood infill that overtime this could actually be a problem. Perhaps a thin aluminum shield could be applied on install just above as a moisture barrier.
Thanks for this video. I struggled a bit with the wifi connection but would have been a hair pulling experience without your help ! Will be running for the first time tonite. My wife is going to want to use the panel buttons only. I hope to create a favorite setting that works the best for most washes. Fingers crossed. :)
I see your washer only came with 1 utensil basket. Mine too. We will want to use these in the manner we did with our old washer, and 1 of these is not enough. The top rack will be used for large cooking spatulas, plastic spoons, tongs etc. Im waiting to hear back from Bosch but my store sample had 2 and they appear to be sold in pairs on their website. Ill edit this when, and if, i hear from them
I prefer the 800 for the ascetics that match my kitchen and the rare occasions we use the dynamic cleaning function. I like the 800 drying system but the 500 auto door open is really cool too.
In the video, the counter hides the top panel. Shouldn't the lights on the top panel stay on after choosing start? From the owners manual it looks like the time left should be illuminated as well as the light for when everything is "clean" at the end of the cycle. Could this be one way where you wouldn't need to use app?
The running indication is the light on the bottom. That’s why they included it. I guess if it was desired it install it sticking out it may work but the sides maybe exposed
This machine does not have an open bottom cavity. Its almost flush to the floor and its Impossible to get an eye on the water connection to check for leaks. With the plastic connection back there, a visual confirmation would be really nice to have.
Enjoyed your video. Just had this dishwasher installed today. Unfortunately, the WiFi button wouldn't come on no matter how long I held the button.... so far I am disappointed in this machine.
When this happens shut off machine. Turn back on. Then hold down power button to factory default machine. Then hold remote button when default is completed to enable WiFi
@retrotechandelectronics I did that soon after commenting and was able to get connected. Perhaps my installer- husband-had pushed too many buttons before I tried. 🤷♀️
Watch out!! I have been doing the same thing with all my old equipment..buying BOSCH. But they started with their "globalism" about 7 years ago and began outsourcing a lot of the manufacturing to Mexico. And of the BOSCH equipment I had that was made in Mexico..they all failed prematurely. Fortunately, I now ask where the unit was made..and if it's not built largely in Germany..I don't buy it.
@@srcultureshock Those are both North American models, and yes they are assembled in New Bern, North Carolina. However the pumps, racks, valves and hoses are manufactured in Juárez, Chihuahua. You really have to dig and/or have a friend in the repair/warranty/service trades to let you know which models to get and to stay away from. Honestly, if you didn't know anybody that has that knowledge..I would either dig around on youtube for someone that might, or just walk into a repair/parts place and tell them straight-up "I need to buy a new dishwasher..I'm thinking Bosch..which models should I stay away from?"
And if you break down the individual components, parts seemingly made in one country will be made of components from several others. Its impossible at this point to ascertain actual origin.
We buy from costco and buy the 5 yr warranty. Our previous asko broke down at 4.5 yr mark. Covered by 5 yr warranty sold by local shop that went bankrupt so we decided to go Bosch at Costco. We wash sometimes twice a day and with hard water. Asko is suppose to last one or two decades. This time around we need to add dishwasher salt and use cascade platinum plus with water softener and rinse aid to curb wear and tear
Thank you for this! Such a huge help especially with connecting to the app.
Absolutely, helpful. Especially the part about the app. My headache went away.
Glad to hear it!
You really did an excellent job because I looked at it as who needs an app. I'm sold...
The app is good to set up the features and get notifications of completion. I don’t know anyone who drives across town to start their dishes whilst at a cafe. So some is nonsensical and some features quite valid
@ I ordered the unit today and and coming next week.
That was one of the most well made and informative videos I have ever seen. Very helpful. Well done!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the video. The connection app was DRIVING ME CRAZY! Thanks for telling us how it REALLY WORKS, as opposed to how Bosch SAYS it works! Crazy!
Glad it helped! That connection app is pretty frustrating.
- Nice job on the install and explaining the app. I’m planning on buying this washer tomorrow.
I think you'll like it.

nice video , do you have a demo for those of us who do not wish to run their dishwasher with an app?

Remember that you have an option of side mount installation as conducted in my 800 series video.

Glad it was helpful. Our last Bosch lasted us 15 years.
Wow best A-Z set up on any item I've come across really impressed. Now to check out your channel and see what else you have...
Lots and Lots of random stuff.... and I have several channels.
Im going to buy a Bosch dishwasher sometime in the next week. I'm still debating on whether it will be the 500 or 800. It's not an easy decision.
800 dries better and cleans a bit better but is about 700 more in my country. Imo 500 is a good in between 300 and 800, and door self opens to help dry
I love that door open feature. I wish it was in the 800 as well....

I’ve never seen them with two. Would two even fit?
@@retrotechandelectronics Yes, the demo unit in the store we purchased from had two in it, as have several ive seen on youtube.
@@Kiwi-ot3wz I believe it, just unboxed 3 machines and never saw more than one
Just to confirm... with the permanent remote start selected you will not be able to turn the machine on manually? Or can you use both options? Thanks
you can still turn it on manually/.
Comparing this to the 800, which one do you prefer?

New 500 dishwasher installed 2 days ago. Any way to control cycles, auto air, etc. without the app?
If youve set it as a favorite, you can select it from the front panel, Other than that it would be difficult.
This machine does not have an open bottom cavity. Its almost flush to the floor and its Impossible to get an eye on the water connection to check for leaks. With the plastic connection back there, a visual confirmation would be really nice to have.
I had the same issue , I turned on the water and checked for leaks prior to installation.
Will the dishwasher work if I do not want to connect the WiFi?
Yes. It will work fine. The app allows for more convenience

Your 90 degree water connection should face the sink….
It cannot as the water hole in the cabinet was cut too low , the length allows it to wrap around without stress
