Me
To Pimp a Butterfly is one of my favorite albums of all time and I don't even listen to hip-hop/rap. I am a metalhead. This dude is a genius yet so humble.
Trust me, dude. It changed my perspective in music 100%. Before that, I was a rock elitist believing that "modern music sux". But, TPAB putted me in shame that there's hope in music after all.
@@zackzallie8735 Modern music is good. I just don't like most music. Still most music I listen to are post-2000.
Check out Untitled Unmastered it's tracks that didn't make it on TPAB. Also has a lot of Thundercats incredible bass work (he came from metal I believe)
@@zackzallie8735 Most modern mainstream rap is trash nowadays thankfully we got J cole and Kendrick to show that good quality Rap can still be found in the mainstream I still prefer old school though
This is how artist these days should be, acknowledge the fact that Michael did great things to get to where he is/was, and that his records that they break doesn't mean anything because none of them has done the work they has.

Jimmy is a big music fan and this album breached genre barriers and got people who listen to heavy metal to give hip hop a chance so I'm pretty sure he can appreciate this masterpiece.
I'm pretty sure he listened to it through, given the fact that Jimmy Fallon is a music enthusiast in general.
You'd be surprised to see the different demographics of people who listen to hip hop. I've learned over the years that appearance often has nothing to do with the music they listen to.

It's a machine. The machine just knows that Kendrick is being highly sought after at the moment so it feeds people with Kendrick related content.
It's rare when a talk show host is actually a fan of the guest, but the problem with Jimmy is that he makes it clear that he has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. His compliments are always extremely shallow and could apply to any person in any scenario. You don't have to know the guy, hosts never do, but cmon at least improve your act a little
Word. Or at least research a little damn
+Victor ABP He said the samples were from either 1974 or 1975, that's something a lot of people wouldn't know.So you 2 didn't like his questions and you say he has no idea what he's talking about when it's actually the opposite? Ironic.
+uzamak3555 but that's just something someone told him, I'm talking more about his reactions. it doesn't matter if the guest is a musician or an actor, it's always "gosh you are so great, so good gosh". look at other hosts for instance, they ask real questions and form a dialogue where both seem interested. with Jimmy it's clear that he doesn't know that person at all and is being as shallow as he possibly can. there's even an interview with Chris Evans where he doesn't even ask an actual question at the beginning, it's the strangest thing look it up
+uzamak3555 Well first of all, there are only six samples on the entire album (only four of which were actual direct audio samples; the other two were re-recordings of other songs). Second, one of them was from 2000 (the Mausberg technically-a-sample from "King Kunta"), and another was from 2010 (the Sufjan Stevens sample from "Hood Politics").
If you listened to the album, there's no way you wouldn't have anything to say about it. The thing's a masterpiece. I agree.
The last song on to pimp defends Michael Jackson

mortal man is such a deep song. that last poem always gets me damn shit hits hard!
@@sycko8 Yeah, but Mortal Man is...a song. They didn't say that the poem was the song.
