    Hi, for your HWS, Fridge & Charger I would put remote controlled power outlets on them. Bunnings sell an Arlec version. Then just fit the remote somewhere easy to see. One remote can control 4 outlets. That way they are always OFF, just when you plug into grid power you push the remote and they all come on.

    One question when this is all working will the shore supply plug (the 15amp from the mains to the caravan) be alive?

    • @muddyandsandy
      @muddyandsandy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey....no it doesnt...as I have a change over switch, which disconnects from that plug....and connects to just the inverter input and power points in van....think of it like this....the change over switch has two inputs and one output...the 2 inputs are totally separate from each other....you can switch up for example for shore power or down for inverter power...thanks for the comment

    can you run the fridge on 12v with the inverter on? I only plan on using 240 for cooking woth an induction top and hot water, after that would switch back to 12v to save on using gas

    • @muddyandsandy
      @muddyandsandy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a hard one..because the fridge I use is a 3 way....which uses around 20+amps on 12v....that's alot...easier to run on gas....unless you have a compressor fridge that would be fine, but it would need a lithium setup......I only use inverter for 240v appliances...blenders,toaster etc

    Great vid
    Who did you get to certify the 240v electrical work ?
    From what I understand you can do 12v wiring and you can plug an extension cord into the invertor but as soon as you start cutting cables that run 240v this work needs to be done and/or certified by a licence electrician ??

    The RCD will not trip on inverter, a Residual Voltage Device such as an RCD DUO will have to replace the RCD. Works on a rise of 40 volts on the earth.

    Where to start!? Jeez love it, soooo I have a caravan with 12 volt everything too as stock and an electric hookup plug on the outside. I was thinking of … setting the leisure battery (460Ah lithium phosphate) in my boot and connecting it too the same 3000 watt Renogy inverter. Outputting from the inverter into the caravans electric hookup, would that work? Again I’d run the fridge and heating off of gas. It would mean the 240 sockets would all be active then for microwave and kettle etc. any issues with running the inverter for extended time periods etc? The leisure battery in the car will charge from the engine from a dc to dc charger and solar on the roof. I want the leisure setup on the car as I also go camping without the caravan. Would appreciate your thoughts!

      I had a camper van I built with a 3KW INVERTER , leaving the inverter on even without a load will drain the battery over time(I had an 260ah AGM ), lithium might be different and quality inverters may have less of a draw on the battery.

      Just thinking of extended periods of use, I found with my crappy AGM it drained pretty quick. I’ve sold my camper and bought a 2018 3.2 Wildtrak , next step buy a caravan and start the off grid process again this time with lithium🤣🤣

    Does rhe rcbo work with the inverter correctly? Guessing it does not internally bond neutral and ground?

    • @muddyandsandy
      @muddyandsandy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate...inverter feed goes straight to a change over switch.....so there is no connection between inverter power and outside caravan input plug.....change over switch has 2 inputs and one output.....1 input inverter and other input is outside caravan plug........when you switch up to inverter it only connects to inside power..hope that makes sense...thanks for the comment

    Hi there
    Why do you need an isolator switch as well as a resettable fuse, if you want to isolate the inverter couldn't you just switch the fuse of and reset it when you want to operate the inverter again ?

      @muddyandsandy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes you could just use the resettable fuse to turn off....but I perfered to have a isolator..as it's designed to be a switch...

    All thru a 10 amp plug . Not strictly correct

    • @muddyandsandy
      @muddyandsandy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True...but the max my battery can output anyway is 2600w..was never planning on running 3000watt equipment...so it can't do more than 10amps anyway....that was my reasoning..cable can do 20amp..and the only difference between 10amp plug and 15amp plug is the earth pin...its the cable that is the most important thing, and that fine.....i could change the rcbo to 10amp and that would limit it for sure....thanks for your comment
