Steam still builds up after unplugging it so you have to be careful with if you want to refill it. Need to hold down the trigger while unscrewing the cap. Use a oven mitt for added protection.
I am not filing for one on mine, I think it still works great I will just be careful with it to let it cool down before uncapping. I have one of the newer models, just not bothering with the recall.
@@pamelawade2334 because it has worked fine for me for years, and they don't have a good replacement steamer to purchase instead with a coupon that they give you, so I'm keeping it.
Honestly without clear information of how exactly it's burning people, I'm just going to keep mine. Allegedly only 150 people have encountered injuries from the product. Sounds like user error, unless Bissell comes out with a more specific explanation I don't understand what the issue is. I love this thing, and there's no equal replacement on the market right now.
You have to wait 5 minutes to open the cap after the product runs out of water. If you open it too early it burns you, but not so badly that it would leave a lasting injury. People just don't read directions. This product has been out since 2008, and is now popular from tik tok. This means more people are using it, so therefore more injuries bc people don't read directions. I am glad I got mine bf it was recalled!
Thanks for posting this. Just did the form w/ pic, and all went smoothly. You covered the process well. Also appreciate the tip on a different model. I did like my steamer.
I found that there is a problem with the meatl thread on the bottom of the screw in lid. Mine was oing in crooked. I uplugged it and waited for it to cool down before I took off the lid. Then I made sure that the thread was correctly connected and was finally able to screw it down all the way! Works fine now.
Sounds like a very reasonable, actually amazingly low problem rate. My opinion, probably user error, not reading the instructions or not enough common sense included outside of the box... 😂
Amazon Canada is selling BISSELL Steam Shot Omni Handheld Hard Surface Steam Cleaner Titanium - 4171B. I am not sure if it is newest model? Or still under the recall?
Bissell has finally rereleased the SteamShot! The SteamShot Omni, the cheaper version with less attachments, and the SteamShot OmniReach, the more expensive one with more attachments. Yay!! 🥳🎉
@@jow.2450 Glad you got your refund! Personally, I love my steamer, have had no issues with it as long as I use it properly and I have no plans on chucking it.
I don’t want to be a jerk about this but if you follow the instructions you will not be burned.😊 All it takes is a little common sense, just unplug it, hold the trigger down to release all pressure, slowly remove the fill cap. Just that simple. I’ll keep mine. thank you Bissell for a really good steamer i love it.😊
I sure did not want to let go of my steamer mine was fine, they sent me a digital credit $60, but I couldn’t use it on their website at that time, because they did not have another handheld steamer, but now they do and I ordered mine off their website today.I missed my steamer, been waiting for months.. You do have to pay for shipping and handling.
Did anyone receive their Digital credit from the recall? I have literally been waiting since August. In October, I emailed, they told me 5 business days. I waited 10 business days and they said it would take 10 weeks ?!
I filled out the form, and had to upload a photo with the cord cut, and with the model number, and serial number, I tried to upload the photo, but I couldn’t so I had to call Bissell.
As others have said, I will not be returning mine.... the email I received stated the reason for the recall: "because the product can, in rare instances, expel hot water or steam onto users while heating or during use, posing a hazard of minor burns." Ummm... this product is supposed to produce hot water/steam... if you just use some caution while using it, I'm certain you can avoid being burned. It's really not that complicated, is it?
If you contact them for the recall they'll have you cut the cord and send them a photo. They'll offer you $40 cash or $60 credit on their Bissell store website.
! Please ! Great video but please add a caption at min 2:15 to ‘unplug first’ before cutting. I know it is said later, and shown visually later (and you’d think this would be common knowledge), but just to be on the safe side for ‘some’ viewers at this point. It’s the very 1st spot in the video, showing cord cutting.
I wonder how much a wrongful death suit or liability for injury BISSELL may have had to deal with. For you who are considering still using the steamer consider that If Bissell is giving customers between $40 and $60 each, and there are 3.2 million customers, we can calculate the range of total returns: • Minimum return: 3.2 million x $40 = $128,000,000 • Maximum return: 3.2 million x $60 = $192,000,000

Does anyone know if the product is actually defective or if these burns are due to user error? I love my machine 😭
Thank you so much for posting this step-by-step guide for getting a refund. You made it so simple! 🧡

May good sense prevail. If it works well, who can say except the user, what to do with it?
Why would you not do this ??

My thoughts exactly. I have used my steam shot countless times without any issues. Use distilled water, the user manual, and common sense people.
I should have not applied for refund!!!!

Not doing this. The only time I ever had an issue was when I didn’t have the cap screwed down properly. Other than that no problems.
Me either I'm not returning mine. The replacement has terrible reviews.
I'm so glad that I bought the Shark version!
Wow. Thanks so much, I am so glad that I came across this video.

My response email says give us up to 3 days. It’s been longer. Wondering how much longer to wait.
just curious, have you received your refund, yet? Hopefully, it's not anything like the blendjet recall, or you may be waiting for months.
@@lme4495 I received it yesterday! Was glad to chuck the item. What about you?

What about testing a steam mop that comes with 10 attachments to use like a hand held steamer?
There isn’t any new model on their website or on Amazon.
There isn't. I wanted to get a credit for a new one and just redo the cable, but they don't seem to have handhelds anymore :(
Do you have a recommendation for a replacement for Bissell???
If you get the credit, can it be used to purchase a new one on Amazon or is the credit only good on their website only?
I believe it’s website only
Ty for the information
