  • In this short scene from the 1990 TV Movie "Family of Spies", Powers Boothe portrays John Walker, a US Navy officer who spied for the Soviets, and uses a Minox B to photograph secret government blueprints. But the actor's fingers partially cover the lens so his photos likely would not have turned out very well. In a later scene which I've spliced together with this one, he removes the film cassette from the camera and conceals it in a package of cigarettes in preparation for the "drop" where he would pass it off to his Soviet contact. For some unknown reason the back of the camera has been fully removed from the Minox, even though it was never intended to be removed, only slid back, for film replacement. Perhaps this was a directorial decision made at the time to enhance the visuals.

For some strange reason almost any and all online data about this movie has been erased. Granted it was a very dull movie, but it does make you wonder...

This clip is the ONLY one from the movie that I can find. Better hope it doesn’t get removed on YT.
