    Earthing up ‘taters in containers. Be sure to check the grade of plastic when using containers. Below is a good website to verify if the plastic is good grade. Using non-food grade plastic could cause harmful chemicals to absorb into the soil & in turn absorb into your food.

    The things you were saying were rotted potatoes from watering, were the original seed potato.

    I opened this video to see if I still have time to plant a second harvest. Explaining when you planted them and when you dug them up was very helpful to me. Thank you so much!

    You can fill the buckets with soil when you plant them. I do this, and they grow up into the light easily. Saves having to earth up. I only had 1 out of 50 that failed to do so. I empty the bag into a wheelbarrow to harvest, saves mess on the ground, and easy to tip the soil back into the bucket or grow bag. Keep up the container potato growing.

    Great job on the potato harvest! In listening to the whole video it seems to me that your son is very inquisitive! A sign of intelligence! Find him good answers while he’s young. There’s a lot of information on WHY green potatoes will make us sick if we eat them. That seems to be what he’s asking for. 😊 Good luck with all of your gardening and thank you for sharing!

    Also,only wash them when you're going to cook them, they'll last longer if they haven't been washed

  • @micheleleigh7028
    @micheleleigh7028 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Keep them covered in the dirt to cure them. Its a protective coating. They last longer than if you wash them all off.

    I too am trying to grow potatoes in a container this year. Instead of adding more soil i am using *dried* grass clippings, leaves, etc
    I started rather late in the season. The plants are not as robust as yours. And just this week began to form flower buds. I suppose I will harvest when the plants begin to die. I do not expect much from the harvest.

    Using 15 gal grow bags, and placing no more than 3 seed potatoes in a bag will produce a wonderful crop. also blood meal and bone meal with a just a little sulfur is great mixed into the "Loose" container soil

    I'm hearing the potatoes need loose soil so they can expand and get big. Leaves mixed with soil, lawn thatch.

    If you use a tarp when you dump the buckets comma you can just lift it up and pour it into the bucket

    Nice job! Just what I needed. QUESTION: I have mine in pots. When I harvest can I dump the entire pot on one of my raised beds and leave the old soil there? I would add nutrients and plant something else. Thank You.
