SMART Furnace Array - 100% Fuel Efficiency (+ Kelp Fuel Rods) (No longer works)

  • Tired of wasting fuel in your furnaces.
    Introducing the Sequential Manufacturing And Resource Transporting aka the SMART Furnace.
    Every time you activate a furnace it will consume 1 fuel to process items for x amount of time. If there are not enough items in the furnace you burn fuel while processing nothing.
    This machine uses dried kelp blocks that can process exactly 20 items each which are generated at 100% efficiency in two adjacent towers and are automatically fed into the SMART furnace.
    The SMART furnace is in the middle then then distributes any items into an array of furnaces. Once a furnace has exactly 20 items it will be provided with a single dried kelp block and all the next incoming items will redirected to the next furnace in the array where the process repeats itself. This leads to 100% fuel efficiency and a very convenient place where all your processed items end up.

    Okay what I don't understand is how you can process 64 items of the same type if you only start the furnaces when there are 20 items in them, how does it handle the remaining 4? Because they won't stack with other items so in my brain that would mean the furnace would just never start no?

    Looks interesting. But I'll probably just build a version that starts filling up 16 smokers with kelp once I have at least 5 stacks available (full hopper minecart, easy to detect), to produce infinite dried kelp blocks to fuel my array; than just try to put in a multiple of 20x however many furnace I have in said array as an input.
    Regardless, kelp based furnaces will be a game changer in 1.21. Same for the bamboo and prismarine based automatic building block crafting.

    • @cubehamster
      @cubehamster  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is one hopper extra hopper currently that functions as a buffer. If you somehow have an incoming batch of 20 items that consists of 7 different types of items the machine would actually break. Its something I have considered an can be fixed by adding a bigger buffer to the machine. But that would have made the whole machine extra 2 layers taller. Instead I prefer to to just not put in batch 20 with 7 different types of items.

    While this is neat and a very nice adaptation of proper logic and efficient design, I'll stick to running ladders as fuel made by a bamboo farm. In the same footprint as your tower of kelp I can fit a machine making enough ladders to constantly supply a furnace with fuel. So no need for any logic or efficiency, I just run the farm and have it produce a saturated amount of fuel. In all fairness, I have a similar situation on the other end of the furnace as well, where there is a slight overproduction fo cactus. The XP bank is always running and drops the dye immediatly into fire ^^

    I notice in some places there are a few observer chains. I dont know if its possible, but in certain cases, would it not be better to use an observer-solidblock-noteblock-observer chain? anyways, love the build.

    • @the24throguecannon
      @the24throguecannon 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends on the timing, of course. Maybe it's possible, but you'd have to design around that.

    • @cubehamster
      @cubehamster  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Every timing in this build is exact. As in if I change the delay of any of the repeaters in this build it will stop working properly. Sometimes all the observers chains were needed to get the desired delay within the size contraint of the build. If you look at some of the paths the observer chains take it occasionaly gets pretty ridiculous.

    Something I've been trying to figure out is what do the times represent from that chart you have when opening a chest. Could I get some help with understanding this?

    • @dairyqueenflashmob
      @dairyqueenflashmob 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      s stands for "stacks" instead of "seconds", so for example comparator signal strength 2 requires 3 stacks and 55 items in a chest but only 42 items in a dropper (the chart changes depending on the container being opened)
