    I wonder how long the powder coating will last on the cup warmer. Love the look but scratches might drive me nuts after awhile.

    Love the looks, size and features of this machine. However, your video has confused me as to pulling a shot and steaming at the same time. I thought that was the point of an heat exchanger model was to be able to do both at the same time. Also, not that it would hurt to purge some water before pulling a shot, but it is my understanding that part of the function of the PID is that one does not have to purge to cool the water.

      I have the same question. What is the point of a pid on a HX machine if you have to purge to bring temp down to brew?

    How many grams of coffee would you recommend for a double

    I can’t decide between this one and the rocket apartamento, not sure if it is worth it the extra dough

    Interesting. I've always run my Vivi much hotter: 255. Probably because in Gail's first review of it, she had it there. That said, I've never had an issue steaming milk for lattes or multiple cappuccinos and find my Vivi to be a strong steamer. I do, however, find that, if she sits for 30 minutes, she really does require a 10 second or more cooling flush before I pull a shot.

      "he" :) The Vivi's other name is the Alex.

      @@MrBahBZ I think Alex is a dual boiler, not a heat exchange machine.

      @@RichardDurishin there’s a single Alex HX machine and there’s a double boiler, more expensive, called the Alex Duetto.

    Looks very nice, but for that money, an hx that can't steam big lattes back to back might not be the best option...
    Edit: See the comments! a gentleman has a good explanation of why that might be

      I've had my Vivi since April and never found steaming multiple lattes to be an issue. In fact, in her prior review of the Vivi, she mentioned what a strong steamer it was. That said, she has this one set to 247 and I have always set my PID to 255-257 as per the original video Gail did with it. th-cam.com/video/WqdA3R7GzV8/w-d-xo.html

    SGC doesn’t carry Izzy anymore. I think they must have only carried them for a few years. Not sure why they dropped that line, but I’d love to know.

    Do you need to purge a PID?

    • @jdraven0890
      @jdraven0890 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly what I was wondering. My machine has PID and the grouphead is electrically heated, so I don't. I also don't leave mine sitting on for long periods.
