That breaks my heart seeing Dominique with tears in her eyes and saying "I knew I could do it...I knew I could do that vault." She had probably done it hundreds upon hundreds of times, literally, and then, when it counted the most, she fell twice. She was such an amazing young gymnast, though. It's just sad that she had to be so unhappy at that time.

This is irritating. So much emphasis on Kerri when Dawes and Miller had already locked in the gold for USA. Yes, Strug was dramatic but Dawes had the highest optionals that night and was the only member of the team who’s scores counted every time, and Miller won compulsories. Dawes in particular, is never given credit for being the real MVP of that team with Miller.
How did Moceanu going up second to last benefit the team? Moceanu admitted she was upset because she wouldn't be the star and knew her dad would be mad. So this video was BS.

She was never a national champion on vault. She didn't have the best score on vault at any time during her senior career at Nationals. There was no reason for her to be second to last on vault. I'm surprised Hill wasn't whining about Dawes going up. MLT even said in an interview that certain coaches made a decision to not complain when their gymnasts were sent up early in the line up for the sake of the team. Only 2 members of that US team made EF on vault at a worlds or Olympics. Shannon Miller and Kerri Strug. Shannon had a broken wrist in 96 so she did well for someone with a broken wrist. Kerri's vault was gross ugly but she was consistent and if Dawes hit which was a big if because she choked on vault quite a few times she could have a case but Moceanu had NO case for being sent up second to last on vault. Bela insisted she be in that position because he knew if they won that would probably be the place the win was clinched and he wanted her to be the star.

Because she was a greedy diva who cared more about money than her team.
She was injured, so she couldn't join them and so she had to join a different tour after she's healed
