    I keep mine handy for those dreary days when it’s bad weather and I gotta be out in it for a while. I love the fact that it’s actually rust proof (and not just resistant). I haven’t had to use mine that much but I appreciate the sharpening tips.

      @@themahones yep, LC200N is, for all practical purposes, corrosion proof as well. Vanax and Magnacut aren’t far behind either. We are blessed with many wonderful corrosion resistant materials.

    I have one of the balis from them. It's awesome to hear this. I've been hesitant to put it to the stone since I really didn't know what to expect. Honestly, to hear it's on par with 14c I'd say that's amazing. When you consider it's 100% corrosion proof that's a hell of a good balance.

    Always love seeing new materials and innovation in the knife world. One thing that does concern me is price vs others in comparable steel. I know it performs differently than regular steel and is rust proof,but it's still doing what other knives are doing and that is cutting. I personally love the design and the overall look of it just not there on the price point. I appreciate all the effort that went into making the vid as well from testing and sharpening to giving us a very comprehensive look at what this knife is about along with care and maintenance. Thanks for the great vid Jerad and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.

    Have one, and I gotta say it's the only knife I own that I would say has too heavy of a detent. I usually prefer heavier detents though.
    I gotta say, using this thing is super weird because it cuts FOREVER but it has a saw tooth feel.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You know if you don't like your detent you can tune it down a little, mines perfect but I could see if it was any stronger it could be irritating

  • @ssunfish
    @ssunfish ปีที่แล้ว

    Great comments and going further into details to a point that this was very well worth watching!
    The degrees per side is to increase toughness and since the edge acts different from steel it doesn't really detract from function. It's not a blade material for slicey satisfaction. But this knife keeps a working edge that endures. It's related to the axiom that the sharper it is, the sooner it dulls. It's a task oriented knife and most knives on the market are General Purpose. It's dialed in much more for what is it's intended purposes. A different animal and you have to develop how and when you will get more out of it AND YOU WILL GET MORE out if it in certain areas.

    Jerad did you get the knife with the included oil it comes with? That oil is to put on the lock face whenever you get lock stick. It lasts a long time before you have to reapply.

    It is a neat material, I've been messing with it over the past 2 weeks or so in a custom fixed blade that's Sir Adans. Its one highly aggressive material in its apex profile.

    • @ssunfish
      @ssunfish ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, EDC & lace! I'm glad you are using it and learning this blade material too! It has mega hard particles in a way softer matrix than high vanadium alloys of steel. It's so much of a measurable difference that it takes all new learning to get the most out of it. We have a long road ahead of us.

    Hey Jerad, thanks for the review! I read up a little on dendritic cobalt, at least the older composition. I think it was called Stelite? The article said to use a medium ceramic stone, not diamond, because the diamond would shatter the cobalt "crystals". I've touched up my factory edge with ceramics, and it made it somewhat slick. Doesn't seem to bite into cardboard too well, just like you said. I think I'll try a diamond stone, then strop, and see if it performs better. Maybe the proprietary Teravantium reacts differently than the old recipe. Thanks again for the testing and review! And the sharpening tips also. I've learned a lot from watching your videos. Keep up the great content!

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only Ceramic stones I have are very high grit and would of only worked as a finishing stone, but maybe I should try it as a finishing stone

  • @JerryLoffelbein

    a lot of what you're saying with the aggressively toothy edge reminds me of why I opted for a fully serrated Spyderco Endura many years ago. That word (serrated) is a kiss of death these days, but if you can get similar cutting characteristics in a package that can be sharpened like a normal edge, it's decently enticing.
    still, since it's a newer/uncommon material, the price for them is fairly steep for the edge retention they provide. It's nice that you can feasibly sharpen the material though, unlike Sandrin's Polyhedral Tungsten Carbide blades that are immensely time consuming.

    Hey Jared I was wondering what day diamond plate do you use for fixing bad angles, repro filing and fixing chips. I think you use the fine. I don’t see a medium I see a fine and a coarse and I was thinking I might need a course since I often sharpen other peoples knives and my old dmt’s are worn out. I also buy old knives at times that have only been beaten and never sharpened or sharpened properly.

    So to sum up, Saw.

    • @ssunfish
      @ssunfish ปีที่แล้ว

      On top of that: inflexible saw that is super responsive to sharpening, yet under mindful use doesn't require a bunch of sharpening saving your slicey EDC some wear & tear between sharprnings. It's almost an accessory piece of gear if you can't only carry Invictus because you love the familiar feel and function of steel knives, that predictable essence of your favorite sintered steel and thermal cycles.

    I think this company completely missed the mark tbh. It’s cool material but a folder was the worst choice they could have made. It’s a niche material and they should have targeted the dive knife market. Most dive knives are made from laughable 440c or 420hc which are barely corrosion resistant and most dive knife companies do a bad job at heat treatment. Dive knife fixed blade made from terravantium would be the perfect knife for the job.
