Why don't gastroenterologists want to perform surgery on someone with a hiatal hernia of less than 4 cm? My hernia 20 years ago was 2.5 cm. In my last endoscopy it was at 4 cm. Since then I have lost weight with Ozempic and Mounjaro, but take Omeprazole 40 mg every second day. I notice that if I do go more than 2 days without omeprazole I feel some symptoms of discomfort especially with the known foods that contribute to acid reflux. But why don't the physicians simply want to repair the hiatal hernia?? Anyway, my grandmother had a hiatal hernia and live on Maalox. My mother has one, as do others of my close relatives.
Thank you for the explanation?
