  • Weekday afternoon drive into Downtown Brisbane Australia. Home of the upcoming 2032 Summer Olympics. Looking REAL good Brisbane! 😎
Brisbane, capital of Queensland, is a large city on the Brisbane River. Clustered in its South Bank cultural precinct are the Queensland Museum and Sciencentre, with noted interactive exhibitions. Another South Bank cultural institution is Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, among Australia's major contemporary art museums. Looming over the city is Mt. Coot-tha, site of Brisbane Botanic Gardens.
Brisbane is the capital and most populous city of Queensland and the third-most populous city in Australia and Oceania, with a population of approximately 2.6 million. Brisbane lies at the centre of South East Queensland, which includes several other regional centres and cities. The central business district is situated within a peninsula of the Brisbane River about 15 km (9 mi) from its mouth at Moreton Bay. Brisbane is located in the hilly floodplain of the Brisbane River Valley between Moreton Bay and the Taylor and D'Aguilar mountain ranges. It sprawls across several local government areas, most centrally the City of Brisbane. The demonym of Brisbane is Brisbanite.
Brisbane is a popular tourist destination. Major landmarks and attractions include South Bank Parklands, the City Botanic Gardens, King George Square and City Hall, the Story Bridge, the Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens and Lookout and the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.

If there is one place I can not stand driving its in Brisbane City but you made it look so easy. You must have been there on a very quiet day because I have never seen the city that quiet before. Usually there are 100s more car than that and they are all trying to drag race you to the next set of light or push in front of you. I drive down a one way street that 3 lanes wide and 40 Kmh speed limit and you got buses racing you down the left side and taxi's screaming past you down the right side. It's a made house down there.

Australia is super boring. I wouldn't spend a lot of money to visit. My dad worked in Queensland and flew us out. Man, I was so excited. Then I got to Brisbane, walked around and was like, "that's it?" I thought the people were super stuck-up too. It's also super weird to run into Australians telling me I wasn't in the Outback too, gatekeeping it or something. I went to Roma. It's definitely the Outback, regardless of whether it has a McDonald's and KFC. Their motels and tourism sites even say it is.
It wouldn't be a bad place to live but it's hard to ignore some of the negative traits they've picked up from America over the decades.

The city is clean and tidy, quiet, non pollutant but something is missing.. The natural beauty of trees, flowers, grass, birds. This is the South East Freeway heading towards Brisbane City. It looks lush and green all the way. I have lived in Paddington, Red Hill, New Farm and Petrie Terrace, all 10 minutes walk to the edge of the City. That was 30 years ago. Now it looks so much different. Elizebeth Street was so cool in the 1960's and its arcade was very "alternative".

@@dickriggles942 There has been a massive highrise devlopment boom in Briabne over that time, the area driven through would have about 3 times the resident population it had 20 years ago, - fueled mostly by immigration comming in from Asia.

When I was there, it reminded me of a boring small town. I didn't even get a big-city vibe from it. I assume things have changed in twenty years, but back then, when people went out on the town, they were wearing suits. Even in 2004, that was pretty crazy.

@@kamal-hassan I did pass by a Ferrari dealership in Brisbane. People can and do drive a lot of old cars in Australia because I think the weather doesn't destroy them like it does in the US.

All Australians cities are simply boring. They have no vibe. Some unpopular cities like Bishkek in Kyrgystan or Teheran in Iran, are so much more vibrant and literally FULL of life. Not to mention major European and Asian cities. Basically all Australians cities close at 5 pm and go to sleep.

Was there twenty years ago, it was super boring and the people were kind of snobby. I liked Surfer's Paradise, it was a lot more fun and touristy. I went all around because my dad was working there and he paid for it. I would have been horrified if I paid for it though. I went to the Outback there in Queensland, the town I was in had a freaking McDonald's and a KFC. I was prepared to rough it too. That was wild.

If there was McDonalds and KFC in town you actually were no where near the outback.
There is new McDonalds in Roma QLD, (300 miles west of Brisbane), the next one after that is in Mount Isa 800 miles away, and the next one after that is in Darwin which is another 1000 miles up from Mout Isa.

@@whatdoiputhere1694 Why are people trying to gatekeep the Outback? It was the Outback, quit crying. Very rural, looks like everything you see in the movies. Enough.

@@dickriggles942 No one is gatekeeping the outback, the outback is somewhere you may have to drive 50km just to buy a loaf of bread, - and even that whould be considered a pretty short trip. Broadly speaking you will need to be at least 500km west of Brisbane before you even start hitting the area Australians might term - the outback.
The nearest McDonalds was 120miles from my house when i grew up, It was a once a year treat, and that was in rich grain, cotton and fruit growing country, - no where near the outback.
There are 4 McDonands in the area most Australians would call the Outback, Mout Isa QLD, Alice Springs NT, Broome WA and Broken Hill NSW,
