The Pillermen WERE Perfect...

  • Kars, ACDC, and Wamuu are some of the most beloved villains in all of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Yet, they are some of the least talked about despite how loved Part 2, Battle Tendency, is and how impactful they are to the Jojo Universe. Without the Pillar Men, Dio would never have become a vampire and Jotaro and the rest of the Joestars wouldn't have received their stands. Something not many people think about, is what if the Pillar Men didn't need the mask to become the ultimate life form and were already perfect...

      Note that Pillarmen represent the Jojo value of standing for yourself like Nietzschean supermen, while rock humans follow Diavolo's anti-value of avoidance and parasitism. Perfect culmination of waiting so long, that you stop thinking and turn into a rock.
      For this reason I assume the meteor that builds the stand arrows, is itself some kind of alien rock human, that wakes up and stirs the competition against the human race, pushing them to develop their highest potential in stand powers.

These guys were the absolute pinnacle of vampire-based threats, a big step above Part 1 Dio in terms of strength, and introducing new villains who are "vampires but stronger" would be boring power creep. With Stands, Araki can continue being creative without trying to find a way to justify a new villain being "stronger" than what came before.

    • @Naglfar94
      @Naglfar94 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Both could have been done keep hamon while also introduce Stronger threats or not who said a power creep needed to happen or one that big? It could have peak and stayed at around that kars level. Hamon was already balanced especially since it could be disrupted if the users breathing wasn't right or if they were too badly injured etc. I found it quite creative in the ways things had to be overcome with that limitation. Hamon also had interesting supplementary abilities such as walk in water, climb walls, longevity, picking up water literally lol it had some neat qualifies that stands just don't have. What would really be great is a hybrid form like Joseph had keep both hamon and stands around it would have been perfect for none stand users to have to defend themselves with. If I were araki I would have kept both and had both side by side. Because it seemed to be what the idea was in part 3

  • @olegtsvetkov2324
    @olegtsvetkov2324 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Since you mentioned hamon, I want to say that it was not so useless in the subsequent parts. On the contrary, he was too strong. So although hamon was used against vampires, it also acted against people and was very effective, especially in the second part. For example, with the help of hamon they read minds, fastened objects (icicles), healed, hypnotized, used to walk on sharp spikes and even killed (Caesar stopped the heart of a Nazi soldier, and Joseph asked Caesar for a double attack on Susie so as not to kill her). If in the third and subsequent parts hamon appeared together with Stands, then it would be too strong, the same D'Arby could simply be hypnotized or read his thoughts and find out the secret of Dio's Stand. Stand Yellow Temperance wouldn't pose any threat at all, as it was some kind of liquid that was quite visible to ordinary people (which allowed the dude to disguise himself as other people). Or a water stand (can't remember the name) could be paralyzed with hamon. The same could be done with stands of 4, 5 and 6 parts.

    I like to think about pillermen as:
    Kars - soul - basicly vengful spirit (whenever his companion dies, he mentions how he will avenge them) who cares mostly about achieving his life goal
    ADCD - heart - besides the whole thing with his burning blood, he shows most emotions out of pillarmen and even cries out during battle
    Wamuu - mind - he isn't called genius of battle without reason. He also doesnt bother with sentimentality and focuses on logical respect
    Santana - body - he is outside of main trio, as he is just husk, but i wanted to mention him
    I would argue that kars and wamuu could switch places as kars is an inventor and wamuu is a proud spirit, but i dont find kars desires as those made by deep thinking

      Santana also moved on instinct in battle, which was something to behold in it's own right. I think if he had escaped and reunited with the others, he had a lot of potential that just needed some polishing. The poor guy didn't even care about killing Joseph, he just wanted out of that lab. He didn't deserve his fate.
      As to the rest, I agree. Also, I think Esidisi really loved Kars. Whamu was willing to die for his personal honor more so than for Kars' goals, but Esidisi sacrificed himself in his desperation to get the Aja for Kars. He could have waited for Kars once he figured out Lisa Lisa had it instead of risking rushing in so close to dawn, and he also could have used Suzie's body to escape and regenerate instead of mailing the stone and then trying to stop them from intercepting it. I think Esidisi's true downfall was being the sentimental Pillar Man. But it also makes me love him the most.
      I really wish Kars hadn't humored his companions and that they remained goal focused and acting as a unit, but he respected them too much to deny them their personal ambitions. I think people overlook that positive aspect to Kars. They just take to heart what Kars said in battle with Joseph to manipulate Joseph's emotions, when his actions always proved otherwise. He truly did care about and respect Whamu and Esidisi. Maybe not so much Santana, but his indifference only read as malice, once again, when he was manipulating Joseph's emotions.

      @eemilyy 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ANPC-pi9vuI agree. If you notice closely in the series, kars gets more “aggressive” when he loses something important. When esidisi died, kars was unaware. But wondered where he was off to, but when he found out, there was a shift in his behavior. When Wamuu died, that was kars’ final straw. After that entire arc, kars was just out of it. He was once so reserved and calm, but now he’s just out of control.

      @@Madheim777but based on the difference between part 1 and 2, it is often implied that the ability to unlock Hamon seems to be also hereditary... as in the Joestar Bloodline and the Zepelli bloodline. I have to assume that Caesar never knew about Hamon until meeting Lisa Lisa, and Joseph unlocking his latent Hamon ability was more of an uncontrolled accident, similar to how Josuke first discovered Crazy Diamond. So by this logic, since Elizabeth Joestar (Lisa Lisa) is Jotaro's biological great-grandmother, Joseph being Jotaro's biological grandfather, and both being Hamon users, it's not hard to imagine that all of the Joestar bloodline (excpet Giorno) would have some form of latent talent in Hamon

    Very well made. 2 is my favorite part and I'll always appreciate this villain group. For some very strange reason, a lot of folk think 2 has nothing to do with anything but not only is it the most directly follow up part to the one that came before it, it's also technically the part that sets everything in motion for the Joestars. And it's all because of the pillarmen. Without them Dio wouldn't get the mask which alone starts a domino effect for the whole Joestar lineage, but it's also only because of his battle with the pillarmen that Joseph took on the duty of looking into the more super natural aspects of his family between parts 2 and 3, which led to him meeting Avdol, learning about Stands when Dio awakened, and being able to educate Jotaro and Holly on the matte and Jotaro wouldn't have later been able to take up that mantle Joseph had once he got too old. Speaking of Jotaro and Holly, without part 2 they wouldn't exist cause it also was due to the pillarmen that Joseph trained under Lisa Lisa which lead to him meeting good ol Suzi Q, who's a very necessary factor in the existence of Holly and Jotaro after all.

(for example, Donovan, Tarkus, ect.). but that's just a subject i'm personally interested in the discussion of, i think it's a fun lore thing if they were retroactively Stand users, is all. just a suggestion.
    that aside, i'm glad to see Pillarmen appreciation. while ACDC wasn't very interesting as a character to me, his power is awesome, and the same can be said power-wise for Wham and Cars. those two specifically had deeply interesting personalities, love them. frankly, Cars' deep love and appriciation for nature is a great character trait to me. he admires animals and plants because he could never be like them. in ways, they are above him. humans, however, are nothing to him. they are just pricks. i really like also how, once he surpasses all lifeforms, he's like "lol squirrel eating squirrel". and, i doubt i have to talk about Wham being great, since Joseph himself speaks of his respect for him like as a warrior.
    i would love if Araki made a one-shot based around the Pillarmen, and their adventures before meeting Joseph. a short series about the events between part 2 and 3 would also be cool. i'd love if Araki would follow Joseph and Lisa Lisa's adventures, hunting down the remaining masks around the world or something. i'm just spit balling really, but yea.

    While I'd like to agree that Kars' ultimate shortcoming was that he abandoned his group to pursue his ideals alone, the truth is more complicated than that. It's more like he traded one perfection for another, and it would have worked out fantastically for him if not for pure luck on Joseph's part combined with Kars getting overconfident in his own new untested abilities. The overconfidence wouldn't have even been a problem if it didn't lead him to fight at the volcano, a strategic blunder that costed him everything but even then only because of Joseph's luck.
    To put it another way, in regards to accomplishing his goals Kars did almost nothing wrong. He didn't trade in perfection for something inferior, and he was actually so efficient at getting the job done that by all means it SHOULD have actually worked. He simply got unlucky, that's all. I'd go so far as to say that among every Jojo antagonist, Perfect Kars is still the one with the most intimidating presence. With others who come after, you're intimidated by what they might do. With Kars, it's not only what he might do but the sheer futility of trying to do anything to him. He's truly invincible in every way aside from the one specific niche weakness of getting ejected into space, a weakness that nobody could ever reasonably try to exploit deliberately and that Joseph ended exploiting purely by accident.

    YESSS! I’m always here for Pillar men love! Especially my love, Wamuu!!
    For an earlier point, I think hamon is subtly used throughout the series, not just Joseph. In the final battle with DIO, Jotaro punches him in the leg, sending energy through him, which I interpret are as blast of hamon (which nicely rounds out star platinum’s ability to use every trick in his arsenal. And since Jotaro is part of the hamon clan, he has a natural ability to use it in raw form).
    And then there’s Giorno, whose name literally means Day. And given Gold Experience’s life powers, I would say GE is practically hamon incarnate. I also find it interesting that the pillar men awoke under the colosseum, which is also where Giorno had his final battle with Diavolo
    On a final note, I once read a theory that Kars could be important to part 7 and beyond. When Pucci reset the universe, Kars was a rock flying through space, so he didn’t get reset with it, changing the entire course of history. Interesting thought!

He's actually my favourite antagonist amongst all of the parts antagonists because his abilities, talents, intelligence, and he's the only one who has truly succeeded the majority of his plan.
    Plus, within one of the JoJonium books, Araki has stated that if Kars saw what a Stand was, he could create Stands. Not manifest. Not unlock. Not awaken. Flat out CREATE. STANDS. In the end, DIO did achieve his goal:Cement himself as what everyone percieves as the superior enemy of the Joestars

    Part Two will always be my favorite part in some way/form, even if I feel other Parts do more and are more grandiose. Sure later parts got more intricate, intense, outlandish and ridiculous...but there's just a purity in how Battle Tendency worked and was. Young Joseph remains my favorite protagonist of any part (followed by Josuke), the Pillar Men as a group are way up there for villains for me (as individuals they fall significantly lower on my ranking & thus I always group em together) their theme is just timeless and will still be the best imo. I loved the humor and action, having training montages alongside characters problem solving in the midst of battle is fantastic. Which is something I kinda feel is lacking as the JoJo franchise moved on, I kinda hate we don't have characters learn their new abilities and Stands in a meaningful way...we SORTA get that, but it's mostly a offhanded comment and feels skipped over a little. I feel Part 2 doesn't get near enough the love and respect that it should.

    One fail in your video: Kars did not seek being the ultimate life form because of power alone, he wanted to see and withstand the sun, thats why when he managed to do it he was very happy and complimented the sun as "the most beautiful light I ever seen"
