I love the idea of learning more about guinea pigs and the nice people who care for abandoned and mistreated piggies.

I relate to the guy who said he turned to guinea pigs after his divorce. My ex fiancé used to make fun of my for obsessing over guinea pigs, saying things like "Why like an animal that does nothing? They can't even be trained to do useful things like dogs can." Well, after he left, you know who was still there for me? My guinea pigs. And they figured out right quick that he was the source of my pain. Every time he came over to collect more of his things, they flat-out ignored him when normally they want to play with anyone who comes to the house.
An animal doesn't have to be "useful" to be important. You can form an important bond with anything, especially something as aware as a guinea pig.
And maybe this is sacrilegious as a guinea pig lover, but I actually wouldn't mind trying cuy (you just couldn't let me see the head, I know that would make it impossible to eat). I'm very fascinated about their place in Peruvian culture and would like to experience it myself, to really understand the origin of our beloved companions. I have a friend who went to Peru and tried it. She brought me back a little plushie made from the fur of a cuy. She sits prominently on a shelf in my home with all my other guinea pig plushies.

They don´t want to play with anyone, they just want food. Don´t fool yourself.

Choosing a pet solely off usefulness is wild
      It's a companion, not a staff member

    Can't wait to watch it.
Must admit it always makes me sad being reminded that they are breed and sold for meat when I know they all have such amazing individualistic personalities and just want to live a happy popcorning long life.
But on same coin I know its their culture and they have been doing it for thousands of years and they do pay respect because doing so.

For some culture it s insane that we eat pork or cows ! It s painful to see them holding the piggies wrong though, but we can t judge them for eating piggies

I kept hearing it was coming out Nov 2023 or Dec 2023. Is it still coming out? Have heard nothing about a date. I am quite interested in this documentary as I am a guinea pig momma.

I went to a Peruvian restaurant very recently, and they didn't have guinea pig on their menu. Perhaps they realised that guinea pigs are too beautiful to be eaten as food.

That's pretty optimistic, but they probably didn't want the bad press.

  • @SSJPENGUIN

I find it unsettling that they're eaten in Peru but I'm loving how accepting of their culture people are in these comments
    (for now, at least 😬)

Hello for me it's upsetting when people eat any animal. But again - cuy have a long history in Peru and this is uncovered in the film. Take care

    • @xc8487
      @xc8487 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

I don't think it's bad as long as they're raised humanly, unfortunately pretty much no one there does that. A cinder block pit and being fed corn is horrible.
