The clunk was characteristic for the ecodisc, but I guess KONE got a lot of feedback from architects and building facility managers to make the motor quiter. The clunk is pretty loud and many people may not like it when a lift makes such loud noises. So, just like the car industry, they may have had some sound designers optimize the design to reduce the noises and sounds. With luxery car's they tweak the sound of the doors so that when you close them they have a solid feel "sound" to them. I've seen this on a tv program featuring BMW. They go to town with the sound design to make it feel like a proper door. Who knows, how much effort KONE has put into the sound design of the 4th generation ecodisc (I'm just guessing). Btw, it's the ecodisc's 20 year aniversary!
NOT THE LOGIC! NOT THE LOGIC! i tell you, i mean the clunk of 2nd gen is quiter, surely i hate american ecodiscs. kone in europe and australia actually are very good. the singapore seem to follow american even though they are not as crap.
-Asian Ecodiscs still have brake clunks... for now.- S MonoSpaces in Asia have brake clunks. Basically, the more heavy duty EcoDiscs have kept their brake clunks but the cheaper office-quality ones lost them.
Yeeeessss! I love this Ecodisc! I bet Toplevel does too! I rode one but couldn't hear the EcoDisc on the lower floors :( they made it too quiet!! I like the fixtures.
The 4th gen ecodisc confuses me slightly. Before it seems they use a 2nd generation for smaller lifts and a 3rd gen for bigger lifts with typically more floors and busier places, but now they're both discontinued in favour for this one new model. Do they also use this same ecodisc for their smaller lifts (what would have been smaller second generation ecodisc said until they were discontinued in 2013) but programmed to go slower? Take for the example the 2012 small 4th generation eco disc at the lion yard/grand arcade in Cambridge.
+ChrisReviewsTech Because it takes effort to go down. Going up is easy. Counterweight is mid weight, so when the lift is not full the lift will go upwards if the brake is released when doing a freefall to release passengers. Schindler Eurolift MRL sounds much louder when going down. Also 1st generation Express sounds better when going down.
I know what u mean about the 4th gen ecodisc iv only found out now that iv been in one it confused me because the ecodisc voice is in welsh i have never heard it in welsh and it is really funny
Maybe to appear intelligent by saying Otis is the best instead of just reading up on things. They used to say ThyssenKrupp was bad because it has to be an Otis. This actually got me to choose ThyssenKrupp as my favorite company. Reverse psychology it works most of the time. I would see videos and comments saying it was a peace of Krupp. Well I don't think so because I have Researched the company and plan to do so again and I have rode in ThyssenKrupp elevators and they run great as far as I know. People sure know how to clown around.
Ecodiscs are the worst in my city, they were installed cheaply, buttons and panels falling out often, one shopping center opened earlier this year which has ecodiscs, now it has already been modernized!
The Australian English voices sounded a lot friendlier. In fact, the current AU voice should just be the voice across all English Kone voices IMO; the new UK one sounds shit.

Do you think it's a good idea to surf a lift in France ?
(I ask because I'm french and I can't find much about laws regarding lift surfing)
Look for laws regarding tresspass
Nae Kone lifts a good
I never heard the eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee when you where in the lift

3rd gen can be smaller and 2nd gen can be bigger as well. the 1st gen can also be big. it depends about the person's desiscion
The fourth generation is generally used for most lighter purposes. A redesigned third generation is used for premium lifts.
Why do Ecodisc Motors buzz on the way down? I've noticed this on quite a few ecodiscs now, but i can't find an answer for it

0:30 wait...did you just say the Mitsubishi MRL is among the best?
1:09 look
I think an ecodisc with no clunk is no longer an ecodisc :(
The Clunk of the brakes are very noisy. If i want to install a EcoDisc i will choose a 4th generation because they aren't that noisy anymore.
If I would want to have a lift I would choose Mitsubishi
lol im sick of mitsubishi i had enough of how many mitsubishis there are in my country

It Should Have A New Voice Beno
Nice !
totally epic vid
That's Not. 4th. That's 2nd Generation Ecodisc
@@elevator_satellite ok
Why would it be second, anyway?
The inspection stop on the KONE’s are absolutely trash. So simple keep brakes open a tad longer slowly ramp down the torque.... instead of BANG.
Most lifts emergency stop on inspection. It would be very unsafe to glide to a stop, as Beno has said before.
KOMBS Ecodisc can be quite a POS sometimes
visit estonia
I miss buttons
beno estoina have lifts
0.75 sounds normal
Noooooooooo. The clunk!??!!???
The sound of the motor sounds like something out of a hair dresser
True
I don't really like the voice on the Eco discs sounds a bit cold and unfriendly.
+Tom Jardine sound a bit like a mad woman teacher
kone are just trying to make there lifts sound posh
