How to try Vegemite 1. Slightly toast a piece of bread 🍞 2. When done spread A LOT of butter on the warm bread 3. Let the butter melt into the bread 🥖 4. Spread a thin layer of vegemite 5. And enjoy 😋🎉🤗
Do you, by chance, happen to be British? I'm an American, and I lived in England briefly as a student. It was there that I realized that Americans often confuse Australian and British accents with each other, and simultaneously, Brits confuse Australian and American accents. It's like Australia is somewhere in the middle of the 2, so it throws off both sides.
From Scotland. I mix marmite (pretty much the same thing as vegemite, please don't come at me 🤪) and then spread on hot toast. The best! The marmite and butter melts into the toast, and you get this wonderful salty yeasty taste on the toast. Yum!
Steph and I stumbled upon a plant store, @Seeds, in Dunedin, FL. In the back they have a cute little bar area. What did I find, Vege-Mite Sammich and Aussie NEIPA beer! Immediately thought of you and this vlog! Cheers!
Anyone saying it HAS to be on toast, is wrong. I never have it on toast. Bread, butter, very thin layer of vegemite...should be a very light brown colour. Works a treat!
The English version Marmite is a lot nicer! There advertising slogan is "You either love it or Hate it!" there is no sitting on the fence in the UK it's one or the other!
Thank you for doing this, you'd be shocked at the number of american's who just try vegemite or marmite by the spoonful and are shocked when they don't like it. Imagine just chewing on coffee grounds you wouldn't like that either lol
I haven't tried Vehemite, but I've tried Marmite (which, as far as I know, is pretty much the same) the right way and I literally gagged. It's the most disgusting thing I can imagine, and I've tried fermented shark meat. Marmite tastes like a combination of beer, dog food and Worchestershire sauce.
Well done Nate for giving Vegemite another try! By the way Vegemite isn't real food, it's just a secrete way for us to torture foreigners when they visit XD
Marmite & Vegemite are both yuck 😂😂😂 here's a tip from Nigella I learnt. You take a little bit of vegemite & mix it with softened butter & then spread it on your bread. It is delicious!! The only way to eat it!
you can also try using olive oil instead of the butter, the toast stays crispy instead of going soggy and it's much healthier.. enjoy my little vegemites! :)
The first time I ate vegemite, I didn't eat it "correctly" too. But I didn't find it bad at all. Nothing great but not bad either. I've tasted worse. I had a harder time trying durian for the first time. But I fell in love with it. Can't say the same for vegemite.
lmao I guess I'll have to give it another try, first time I tried it was around 1994 at the RAF chow hall in Townsville Queensland, no aussie around to explain how to eat it correctly, I just put a small dab on my finger and it was the worst ever
This played after yours and these two young girls decided to try some different foods. One of the ones they tried was a British form called Marmite. It' a hoot. th-cam.com/video/NewZgQupuNw/w-d-xo.html#t=205.690627
What are Australia thinking, I'll tell you, inevitable Americans hate being called Chicken or Yellow, we'll goad them into trying something something that even Aussies knows puts hair on your chest and then we get to laugh at the faces Americans pull as they find out how horrible it is when put on way to thick and way to big a bite.
I just... I just will never understand it. Why? Why would you take a perfectly delicious piece of toast and smear brown sour goo on it? Whyyy? It's just... awful. Sorry, guys. I love my Aussie friends but this is just so no bueno.

thats how 90s kids do it, back in the 70s/80s we used to lay it on THICK! and yeah we were aussies!!!
Yes!
Especially if the butter is spiced or garlic butter
Hearing an Australian accent next to the american one is crazy, i never realised how different they actually are

@@eew12 nope. im an Aussie
From Australia - thanks for giving it a second go! The butter is the key. I like lots of butter and really hot toast.
LOTS OF BUTTER! LESS VEGEMITE THAN YOU DID! - Coming from a true Aussie!
Tommy Orr Jr were you wearing globe shoes and fox tshirts back then too?
@@daret7368 nup mateee what are you talking about you have to add just a bit of butter the chocca block of veggiemite come from a real aussie
0:45 Nate’s talking like he’s mouth is numb after bitting vegimite.. LoL 😂
The only way to eat vegemite is with lots and lots of butter :)
I love that clip ! I laughed my head of !! I had a bad day and when I saw that I must have laughed for ten minutes!😂

You guys should go on the amazing race, love your vlogs so much!
That would be awesome! Thank you :)
The flashback is hilarious!
Love the Hadedas in the background!!!
What happened to your eye Nate ?? Hope you are ok
I find the best way to handle Vegemite is to keep it away from your mouth.
Gotta give you a thumbs up for this lol !
I might be wrong. But I think you're way too polite to admit to disliking it in front of an Aussie! You both looked like you were about to barf lol xx
Marmite and crisps sandwiches with lots of butter.
Marmite and cheese marmite and lettuce, marmite and walnuts all tasty sandwhiches
A jar should last a few months if you only use it sparingly. I actually prefer promite to vegemite as it has more flavour.
Marmite and cheese on toast is the best! Very high in salt though.
Im thinking you guys are just being polite!!
Nahh mate need lots of butter, coming at ya from straya 🤣👍
So here's how it really should be eaten.... toast bread, a thick layer of cream cheese and a thick slather of vegemite. Heaven!!
Anyone saying it HAS to be on toast, is wrong. I never have it on toast. Bread, butter, very thin layer of vegemite...should be a very light brown colour. Works a treat!
Wow I think you guys just affended all of Australia.
The English version Marmite is a lot nicer! There advertising slogan is "You either love it or Hate it!" there is no sitting on the fence in the UK it's one or the other!
Marmite is Vegemite on steroids. Wonderful.
well done nate and kara very brave i still don't like vegie mite i take my hat offf to u guys well done
Fun fact: After trying vegemite with butter, Kara still couldn't appreciate it and finished commenting on only butter taste
This is the funniest thing, EVER!!
Thank you for doing this, you'd be shocked at the number of american's who just try vegemite or marmite by the spoonful and are shocked when they don't like it. Imagine just chewing on coffee grounds you wouldn't like that either lol
Need to try it now...lol. Thanks Guys!

Great description!
No Marmites not the same and you wrote vegemite wrong
Defs not the same flavour. I’m not a fan of marmite but love my vegemite.
I'd try it.
Omg it's the best ever
Definately a different reaction and result. :D
Nope. 😂. I’ve had vegimite in Australia prepared by an Australian. It was honestly terrible even with butter on warm toast.
You should've started with Marmite, much better.
Well done Nate for giving Vegemite another try! By the way Vegemite isn't real food, it's just a secrete way for us to torture foreigners when they visit XD
Haha! Love it!
A bit like how we feel drinking that shit you call coffee!
Now add Avocado on top.

Y 😓
Woohoo 🥳 🥳🥳🥳💜💜💜👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😆😆🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
So veggie mite is just like marmite then
Marmite tastes much better
So basically it is only good if you use so little that you barely taste it, and also add in the deliciousness of butter...then why use it
Vitamins...
Plus "It puts a rose in every cheek..." ☺
I eat Vegemite every day
you can also try using olive oil instead of the butter, the toast stays crispy instead of going soggy and it's much healthier.. enjoy my little vegemites! :)
Haha much better :)
+Natalie Brierly 👍🏻
Haha, definitely not as much fun as the first time
it taste like burnt Maggi.
I like Maggi, can't imagine how bad burnt Maggi would be!? Yuck!
Oh please please please PLEASE try marmite next time you are passing through Heathrow, its the meat version...
There is nothing meaty about marmite, it's completely vegan.
@@fedpoulton I stand corrected but I have to ask why is their a Vegemite if the original Marmite isn't vegetarian?
Vegemite is the Australian version of British marmite. It's the same thing (yeast extract) but tastes a bit stronger.
@@fedpoulton I must've been mistaken but thought vegemite was here in the UK too, obviously not, thanks and have a good day 😃

Vegemite is delicious ! :) You gotta eat it with cheese.
Why would you want to ruin perfectly good cheese by eating it with this disgusting substance.
It's amazing with cheese on bread in a sandwich 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
I do not like veggiemite either
lmao I guess I'll have to give it another try, first time I tried it was around 1994 at the RAF chow hall in Townsville Queensland, no aussie around to explain how to eat it correctly, I just put a small dab on my finger and it was the worst ever
I hope you got your eye checked out Nate that doesn’t look good.

i get a kick out of watching americans eat vegemite

See, Hugh Jackman was right!
Correct way to eat vegemite: DON'T.
Vegemite is the bomb once you get used to it
to strong though
