Thanks for the vid! I dont understand $hitting on a Company like TB for making a sub Par product.. When you said you set up the carb to be lean, Yet it was clearly running RICH!
Yeah this one was drilled out with the high volume pump. The second engine I popped the oil pump stripped and killed haha. This one looks like the piston was just slapping but the crank doesn’t have any play in it. I’ll probably take this down to the cases to investigate.
How do you feel about the bbr 88cc kit for the xr50/crf50 I need to rebuild the top end and figured I’d just go with a 88cc also how does the bottom end react to a big bore don’t want to throw a rod
The bottom end will hold up with the 88 no problem. All my woes have been the top end and only when doing endurance races. Over time these puppies get hot and cook the oil. If I was to get back into endurance racing an 88 I would try an oil cooler to increase the life. I've had an 88 kit on my bike for the last few years doing a couple sprints and pit bike duty with no issues.
Your engine is burning oil not to much fuel. The light color on the spark plug porcelain shows lean. Possibly valve stem sealing or improper ring seat brake in is why the oil is getting in there. Hard to say.
That piston shows signs of improperly warming up motor if you just jump on and ride or not warm up the bike properly the piston will expand way faster then cylinder and end up rubbing
It definitely got warmed up before each ride. I think because it gets so hot and the oil can’t cool it during the endurance races that it starts to soft seize.
I heard the best way to go big bore was either $$$ on Takegawa or actually bore out a stock cylinder. I'm toying with the idea of boring out a crf70 cylinder at the moment.
What do you suggest to rebuild my stock 04 CRF50F? I want to keep it all stock for the kid. Looking for the best price on parts. Or any other suggestions?
Funny enough I just built a bike for my daughter. I went pretty budget and bought a decent condition cylinder on ebay for about $60, a piston kit from tboltusa for about $20, and a gasket kit around $12. I deglazed the cylinder using a hone for about $10. th-cam.com/video/G96KCh0Piss/w-d-xo.html
Awesome. I just watched it. Mines for my 6 year old daughter. Mines still all stock. But only 100 psi Compression and 130 wet, little oil. So I know the rings at the least are toast. But it used and it’s beat up. Using all your videos to rebuild it. Thanks!
Bro, if you left it stock, it wouldn’t have kept breaking down. Factory build engines are better. had my crf50f for 7 years and still has great compression and doesn’t burn oil. Always used Amsoil motorcycle 10w30 oil and 93 premium gasoline and those things will live forever
Cool video! Thanks for making this and glad to see the maintenance! 👍👍
Thanks! Something is always broken :D
Sorry you had already answered my question below. Thanks for the vid

Looking forward to the Aprilia RS50! 😊👍
Yeah it's about time, it's been something like 3 years since it's ran.
Did you upgrade to the high volume oil pump?
On this motor did you drill out the oil passage way or add a high volume oil pump? The guys around here that run them seem to do that.

@@GarageAddiction thanks for the reply think I’m gonna go buy That bbr kit now have a great day
@@michaelstroud98 Have a great day too. Enjoy that little beast!
Looks like it probably overheated and ovalized the cylinder, thus why the scoring is in that main area.. and oil was spewing out past the rings..
Yeah I think you’re right, if I do endurance race the 88 again I’m goin to slap an oil cooler on to see if it helps.

After messing with it a bit more recently I think I have an air leak in the carb which explains some erratic idles sometimes.
What about compression testing it dry and wet prior for the numbers?
I never did any compression testing on the engine. It was down on power and the smoke was flowing and that's when I broke it down again.

Garage Addiction dam that’s crazy! Just opened up mine and same damages. Any idea on good cylinders? All I can find is eBay China makes

@@desertrider325 Very nice, my daughter will be 6 in about a month. Hopefully the cylinder isn't too chewed up and that would be a pretty quick job!
I can’t find the $20 piston kit, can you send the link?

Stock 50s are great, just not for racing 88s haha
Bummer about the Tbolt products.
Who knows, maybe I ruin a takegawa kit too haha
