My biggest struggle when starting bullet Journaling was finding my style and striking the balance between wanting to do what a lot of people did and what I actually needed from my bujo.
My biggest struggle with bullet journaling is that I sometimes totally ignore my bullet journal from times to times because I am too stressed. I know that it would help me over those times and afterwards I feel guilty for not using my spreads or wasting the prepared and then unused pages... Im trying to overcome this problem with using a bullet journal for planning and to-do lists and another one for myself and so far it worked.
My struggle is drawing, my drawing teacher high school never made me feel loved. Always critisizing. I love to glue or to put stickers pics washis patternpaper to decorate my bulletjournal. But I wanna overcome my fear of drawing.
The more you do it the better you get. I use a lot of drawings from Pinterest or google, to help me. Start simple and go from there and do what you enjoy doing in your journal.
My biggest struggle with bullet journaling is not comparing my bullet journal to others on the internet. I can't expect my bullet journal to be perfect all the time and I'm trying to remember that the more I practice and get used to it, the better it will be.
My first struggles with bullet journaling was trying to get over the hurdle of wanting everything to look perfect. It made it difficult to begin any spreads, and I was terrified of my journal not looking pretty enough. I have since realized that my bullet journal doesn't need to be perfect or as beautiful as the ones on the internet, as long as I have a system that works for me and that I like!
Hey Elizabeth, loved the walk through of the new Bullet journal 💕 My struggles with bullet journaling have been finding a good quality journal (I am a student but I do not work, so sometimes it's hard finding a journal under budget) and figuring out what kind of layouts I like and completing them (I basically get anxiety when I start thinking about starting a bujo because there are SO many different layouts that can be used in a bujo, but I get overwhelmed just thinking about the customization aspect of bullet journaling). There are so many people on social media that make bujo outlines seem so flawless, and honestly it get overwhelming just thinking of all the different styles of layouts, being judged by the community for not having a any artistic skill, and the task of where to even begin. And yes, I have seen the original bujo videos by Ryder Carroll, but even those outlines sometimes seem complicated for someone who is not artistic and hates making mistakes. All in all, bujos give me anxiety and I want to find a way to work past that. Thank you for your wonderful videos on bullet journaling 💖💖💖 Cannot wait to see more bujo videos in the new year!! Instagram: @angels_4life101
I tried bullet journalling last year, dived wayyy too deep into it for too quick and ended up just, not enjoying it. But I still loved the aesthetic and the goals, so come new year, I will start again, with all the knowledge of last year, knowing better what I want out of bullet journalling.
i love that you did this thorough review video, especially since i’m pondering switching to the blush one for my next bullet journal! although, i wish you’d compared it against a normal (90gsm) leuchtturm, since that’s what i use now and i’d like to see how the thicker paper weight compares 😅 but that tiny thing aside i loved the video and i like how you emphasize how personal paper choice is (i liken it to the wand choosing the wizard)
My biggest challenge was the pressure I've put on my shoulders. First couple of years were so stressful to me, even though it was supposed to be something fun, destressing, creative. I have always looked at other people, not in a jealous way, I have always looked at them and made myself feel worse, thinking that I lack of creativity, style, overall talent. Now I have found some peace (or still on my way to build my peace) with journalling. 🥺❤
I just started bullet journaling in October. My biggest struggle has been figuring out what spreads work best for me and actually keeping up with it every day. I’m really looking forward to starting one for the new year though, I think it will really help when I go back to school.
Biggest challenge: keeping up with it while starting a new full-time job. I started my bujo when I was unemployed and depressed and it helped me tons because I really used it as a creative outlet (even with my limited skills), but as soon as I started working full time I couldn’t keep up. I’d given up on using it to organise myself and just use it for language learning, books and kpop, but after seeing your rolling weekly 101 video I’ve decided to give it a try again. The rolling weekly is the set up I’ve seen that’s the most balanced between practical and with potential for low-maintenance aesthetic so I’m really hoping it’ll be able to help me as much as it helped you! : )
I am a beginner and I got this for 2022 and This bullet journal is a lot less intimidating and holds my hand just enough where I feel confident to go on my own on the blank pages it’s wonderful to get started with
I'm trying to get started bullet journaling right now and I'm psyching myself out over if there's a point to me starting right now with such a lack of routine since I don't have a job right now and don't really do anything. I think the system could help me do better in even just figuring out what things I want to be doing to occupy my time and how to plan to be develoing skills but then also I worry about if it makes sense to go all in on a new organization sytem to do that right now when there's so little that actually needs to happen.
The biggest challenge I had when starting the bullet journaling method, was exactly that - starting. I never kept a diary as a kid, or kept a reading or gratitude type of log. I HATED journaling in any form. But, after seeing how therapeutic a bujo could be as a hobby, I decided to give it a whirl. Mine is not perfect, nor is it pretty. But I enjoy it more and more every time I go back to it.
I still haven’t started one yet, looking through a lot of videos on how to set one up. I may use a one subject lined notebook just to practice what I would like to include in my first bullet journal. Thank you for being such an inspiration and for your videos.
The biggest challenge I face when starting out bullet journaling was finding a weekly spread that kinda worked for me for any kind of situation but I've now realised that it's not gonna work out that way and I set up weeklies at the beginning of each week and they're always changing!!😄
I was so happy to see this video as I’m very excited about these notebooks! My biggest struggle when I started was just figuring out what kinds of spreads worked for me. I’ve tried a lot of different approaches since then, and 2020 definitely threw me off so I’m excited to take what I’ve learned over the years and start fresh for 2021!
Why do you only have 89k subscribers?! I'm been following you for a while, and I'm blown away by not only your skills, but also how amazing your videos are!
I haven't started my first bullet journal yet but I think the biggest challenges for me will be to keep up with it daily, writing in it consecutively and managing my time while setting it up.
my biggest challenge was the lack of supplies. I usually had ideas but not the proper supply(e.g. specific markers, pens, or etc) to perform them as perfectly as I wanted. after a while I learned how to manage and create my spreads with the supplies that I currently possess.
The thing I still struggle with the most is keeping my weeklies set up the same way every time. When I think I have it the way I like, I see a cool layout and try it out.
I received my first Bullet Journal 2 yesterday. Nice to know I'm not the only one that cares about ghosting and bleeding ink. Great review and the links to products invaluable. So thorough. Now I have the terror of that first pen to paper moment. Gulp! 😱😱😱
I've not started the bullet journal yet. I feel reluctant to put the pen to the paper and I'm not sure if I want a theme or just notes or???? I'm overwhelmed and indecisive of how I want to use it and what I want it to look like. Thank you for the opportunity to win!
Finding my pace! Migrating every week was just too often. A two week spread works perfectly. I use a regular Leutchterm (sp?) and the thin paper took a bit to get used to, but now that I have a good routine, the filled pages feel like cool layered art. I wouldn't change it now. (I art in a different journal.)
Love your channel! Thanks for all the great content. BUJO challenge when I started 🤔 📝 stationary and terminology felt out of reach so I was afraid to begin. Micron what? Fudenosuke huh? GSM paper, etc.
My biggest struggles are getting to complex with my spreads. I try for pretty, rather than focusing on the practice and mindfulness of the method. Happy holidays!!
The biggest challenge I faced when starting bullet journaling was being overwhelmed by all the sections and how they fit together. Once I decided to keep it simple with the basics, it all made sense.
this notebook would be literally perfect if it would have thicker paper but I've always found the Leuchtturm paper a little bit too thin for my use. I hope they will release a version with 169gsm paper in the future!
Back when I started BuJoing, I just bought a nice thick paper and printed the grid myself (there's lots of free pdfs for that online) because gridded notebooks were not for sale where I live and were too expensive to buy online. It made it very easy to use and I didn't worry about ruining an expensive notebook. Nor did I worry about not using a page if my ink bled through. I DID however, disvered that there is such thing as planing a planner! That took some time 😂
I think the challenge is planing ahead. Especially the sequence. Sometimes I already planned out next month page And then I need to add some note for this week.
My biggest struggle was seeing all these beautiful journals and feeling like I needed to measure up to them instead of finding my own style and finding what works for me. It started becoming more of a hassle to journal instead of making my life easier...now I found my groove and make it work for me!😁
I had a hard time working out how to deal with ongoing projects without just migrating them every day. I've finally found something that works for me, based on the Alastair method used either monthly or weekly depending on my current needs. Oh, and accepting mistakes and overcoming the desire for perfection! Bullet Journalling has helped me loosen up in that regard.
The biggest challenge for me was searching the meaning of bullet journaling itself .. How it works , what do I need to write , why I do bullet journaling .. Literally I read bunch of blogs also watch TH-cam videos back then .. Now its been 3 years since 1st I started bullet journaling ..
My biggest bujo struggle is deciding on what my preferred way to journal is. I love the idea of a dedicated weekly spread, but my personality struggles with committing to that structure! I'm pretty knew though (still in my first notebook) so I'm planning to commit to a different style each month in a January so I can perfect my system.
My biggest struggle has always been starting in my new notebooks and letting go of need to be prefect! I sit for hours wanting to start but struggling to put in the first mark 🤣
loving the plantmas series, my struggles of journalling is to never really have space to write if i want to paste pictures in it, and as a rookie bullet journal user it's easy to me to mess up doodles and straight lines haha
My biggest struggle was the overwhelming amount of stationary available and trying to whittle it down to a compact but diverse case which would allow my journalling to be portable but would not limit my creativity. I wished, and still do, that there were curated stationary packages that would be colour themed, versatile, inspiring all in an instantly lovable portable package. Perhaps you, Plant Based Bride could develop that much needed product. xo
Biggest struggle for me when I first started was figuring out what I actually would use in my bullet journal. After a few months, I finally figured out the perfect system for me.
Challenges I faced when I started bullet journaling and sorta of facing still is - 1. I feel overwhelmed by the all spreads various people make.. 2. I feel frightened to use my actual dotted notebook; feels like I am going to mess up 3. I don't know my style, I love scrap paper and colours in my spreads but I also like minimal look.. so it's like a dilemma
The biggest challenged i faced when i was starting bullet journal was the spread ideas...i wanted more spreads, but i dont know what spreads to include!😂
My personal biggest struggle was to be constant. At first I wasn’t able to write every day, week or months. I was desorganized in many ways (physically and mentally), it was very challenging but fortunately I didn’t gave up and found myself a new passion that brings happiness and let me express my creativity in a new form.
My biggest challenge when starting bullet journaling is organizing my thoughts enough to begin creating the system designed to organize my thoughts and actions!
Timing was the biggest challenge I had when I started my bullet journal. It was difficult for me as a student to separate couple hours or an hour /day to setup my daily logs and so many times, I even skipped my weekly log. I really needed to commit specific time for journaling and it was worth it.
i always had trouble keeping planners so i thought i would give bujo a try bc it seemed that it could work better for me the problem was that i got so overwhelmed with the artistic vibes that i saw in posts and videos that i ended up focusing on that instead of planning things, while i always enjoyed art i have never really tried doing art so that shouldn't have been my focus for my bujo... after a while i realized my mistake and started actually planning while learning art separately bc i couldn't jeopardize my planning bc the pages didn't look PRETTY ENOUGH you know? i've came a long way since and while i do keep my bujo more minimal as i become more confident with things i put more art into it, it's all abt balance after all and i'm glad that i didn't give up on having a bullet journal bc the possibilities with bujos are endless and i love that freedom and it's what made planning for me much more enjoyable and helps me actually achieve things :) @knopewyatt_ on twitter and @anapaulasza on insta
What colour do you use for your hair? In a different video you said you dyed it. I have it a orange-y copper rn (not in my profile picture) and I want it a bit more ‘natural’ like yours😊
The struggles I face are a paradox. I either fail to keep up with a spread and in turn completely utilising or filling it OR the space I keep for a spread is not enough resulting in me sticking notes in the spread like the brain dump spread🙈🙈😅
I think the biggest struggle was that I constantly compared my spreads and though it wasn't good enough, second was that I would have so many trackers and spreads which I never really used.
I struggle with wanting everything to be perfect, I need to learn how to let happy mistakes happen, lol. Thanks for sharing your videos, they are very inspiring!
I always have problem figuring out what works for me and what I want to write down for the day... But having a new notebook would help me explore new writing/planning style :)
I think my biggest struggle was the overwhelming need to feel like it was up to date, but I’ve come to realize that if you’re keeping up then it is what you need it to be
I use a (refillable) fountain pen for all my writing, as plastic pens create much more waste. Ghosting does happen, but I don't mind that and the paper generally holds up really well.
I suppose I brought my struggle on myself as my first ever journal that I am still working on was a surprise gift for someone else AND it was to be a gardening journal , as I still struggle with content, watching your channel has helped me with layout and imagination. So here's hoping and after Christmas I think I'll will try something for myself. Thank you @squddler
My biggest obstacle for bullet journaling is to continue to do. Sometimes I forgot for a month and come back. I'm realizing, through your channel, less is more and it's ok
I love coated paper, despite its longer drying times, because preserves ink properties. I use fountain pens almost exclusively, and Leuchtturm is my favorite brand. I’ve found out that some un coated papers alter the color of inks, including mild liners and other markers. I don’t think it’s a beginner journal, though, precisely because people tends to think that the thicker paper equals better paper and as you experiment with different papers and mediums, you discover your own preferences. I’ve been bullet journaling for over 5 years now, and actúa 120 gsm is very thick for me. 160 gsm is a big NO, for me is almost just cardstock, and I absolutely hate papers that soak your inks like a sponge. The thinner coated paper can be an advantage when you use watercolor, because paper can take a good amount of water and it remains flexible, so though it warps, just by leaving your notebook closed and secured with the elastic band, the warping flattens and disappears. I used to do a lot of water coloring in my bullet journals and I tested up to 7 layers without bleeding through. Right now I’m in a Japanese paper crush and loving Tomoe River paper, so I’m using a Hobonich day-free as my bullet journal this year
My struggle when I started bullet journaling was that I didn’t really understand what I needed. I hadn’t educated myself enough, just watched a few TH-cam videos and jumped right in with too complicated habit trackers that stressed me out rather than helping me. Now I’m happy I understand more what I want and am enjoying my bujo. I don’t have IG or Twitter, but if I somehow win I’ll share my e-mail!
I have used Leuchtturm journals ever since I started bullet journaling because I am a sucekr for a pretty book. The ghosting didn't bother me but a year or two ago they did change the grid spacing which really threw me for a loop. I kept with it for another year (or two?) because I liked the idea of having all the same type of journal for all of my bullet journals. But then I decided that for 2021 I wanted to branch out and try either Scribbles That Matter or Archer & Olive. I got an email for 20% off A&O and went down the holographic cat moon rabbit hole (such a pretty book!!). Something I'm sort of interested in and concerned about simultaneously is that what's kept me bullet journaling consistently this year has been bullet journaling in pencil. I've never been super creative with drawing or painting but I did try out some things in my bullet journaling journey to please myself and encourage myself to use the journal. However, there's an awful lot of commitment in a pen and ink. While I have some favorite pens, it's been really nice journaling for the last few months in pencil and being able to adjust any mistakes I make and not worrying about ink drying. I'm curious about whether the pencil will hold up on whiter, thicker paper. Might go back to ink. Not really sure! I just hope that I stick with it this time because bullet journaling has really and sincerely brought so much peace to my mind. I'm @texanwolfpup on Instagram! PS: thank you for doing these giveaways and more importantly for the videos. I love all of your content and it's been a bright light the last few days.
Struggles: definitely being perfectionist about my notebook. When I stopped worrying about small mistakes it got a lot easier. Another struggle was thinking my journal had to look like everyone else. Once I got over that I really got a lot farther.
When you said my name I felt so starstruck!!! ♥ one of my biggest struggles is to stick to one theme or have a cohesive bujo, sometimes i want to be really artistic and sometimes i go very minimal! and i end up not liking my aesthetic :(
I would love to have a notebook with your handwriting on it, and my biggest struggle when i started bullet jurnailng (4 years ago) was actually the yearly swetup cuz i didnt know what to put in it and if id use it, plus i owned sharpíes and my paper wasnt holding up to them jaja
(I use a translator because I can't speak English). Wow🤭♥︎!! It has not yet been imported into the Republic of Korea. I was curious about this product a lot. Thank you for the video♥︎
Huh, so I guess the "smart grid" is like the 'hidden line' on Hobonichi planners. Just the first thing that came into my mind while listening to this. It's just a way to divide the pages to sections.
biggest struggle was def. accepting that mine does not look like the ones online and that is okay and i doesn't have to have the most beautiful calligraphy but has to be practical and useful for me and noone else!
was so excited to know u give away the book but the sad part is i cant get the book as they cant send to my location(offical bullet journal site)now i cant get cause i am neither on twitter nor on any social apps besides gmail... whatever i really enjoy ur videos:)
i remember just buying every pen, every sticker, every washi tape and just using everything thinking otherwise i was doing something wrong, basicallly i was all astheatic over function. took me some time to figure out that you need a notebook and a piece off paper to get things done. and slowly i have integrated more colour and washis and whatnot but nowhere near and its actually.. like.. usefull i guess is the word.
My biggest challenge is honestly keeping up with it. Life gets busy and my creative outlets fall to the bottom of my priority list 😔 but I want to make it more of a priority in 2021!
My biggest struggle even now is lettering. I didn’t bother with fonts when I started because I knew it would be hard and now that I am exploring fonts, I feel like it always looks awful.
My biggest struggle was first knowing where to start with setting it up! There are so many different ways and not really knowing where to start was a bit frustrating! I wish I had known about bulletjournal.com!!
My biggest struggle is to accept mistakes in my bujo. Thanks for the opportunity to win the journal since I can't get my hands on it here in Germany. It's either not available at all or sold out.
Biggest struggle is to find inspiration and trying to do my own spread instead of coy someone's else on youtube or pinterest. So it goes with my creativity !
My biggest struggle is reining in my ideas! I have lots of big ideas but to accomplish them on a deadline kept adding more stress and defeating the purpose of the journal. Also not having much in the way of art supplies. I’ve stolen my kids watercolors for the last few spreads 😅
Hello Elizabeth, I love watching your plan with me videos when you do yours and your husband. My style is definitely a mixture between both. My biggest challenge is BUJO my class/school schedule any pointers. And if I win, I would love to the your signature and a little note. I face the same challenges with depression, self confidence and I feel like I can feel with you. Love you and I wish I could be a Patron but money is tight. Stay strong and safe! Nurses orders :)
I am a fold of very specific Aesthetics of Bullet Journaling. I needed a Bullet Journal which looks Minimal, made of Eco-friendly, Sustainable or Natural materials to start as my very first Bullet Journal. Besides, I wanted to use Eco-friendly and Sustainable mediums (colours, drawings as I am very keen in Art) to set it up and start using.
Congrats to our winner, Carolina!
My biggest struggle when starting bullet Journaling was finding my style and striking the balance between wanting to do what a lot of people did and what I actually needed from my bujo.
I think every bullet journaller goes through this xD
Same
Ohh goodness, same!
@@taylorclay2122 Hope you're finding that balance! It's so important to figure out and no one can really tell you how.
Your BuJo grow and evolve with you. That's why, stick to the basic rules from Ryder. Once you mastered it, you're free to explore other peoples BuJo.

My struggle is drawing, my drawing teacher high school never made me feel loved. Always critisizing. I love to glue or to put stickers pics washis patternpaper to decorate my bulletjournal. But I wanna overcome my fear of drawing.
Same story. A few weeks ago I picked up a brush for the first time in 30 years.
The more you do it the better you get. I use a lot of drawings from Pinterest or google, to help me. Start simple and go from there and do what you enjoy doing in your journal.

I LOVE your nails 😍😍😍 that color is beautiful and bounces so nice off the marketing lol ! Love it !!

**Excellent** review & quite thorough. Thank you for taking the time to put this together.
Challenges I faced when I started bullet journaling and sorta of facing still is -
1. I feel overwhelmed by the all spreads various people make..
2. I feel frightened to use my actual dotted notebook; feels like I am going to mess up
3. I don't know my style, I love scrap paper and colours in my spreads but I also like minimal look.. so it's like a dilemma
I love your nail color!
So awesome that you and Ryder are on the same wavelength ❤️
These features are so awesome!!!!!😀😀😀
If I did win giveaway, please comment me here 😬
i always had trouble keeping planners so i thought i would give bujo a try bc it seemed that it could work better for me the problem was that i got so overwhelmed with the artistic vibes that i saw in posts and videos that i ended up focusing on that instead of planning things, while i always enjoyed art i have never really tried doing art so that shouldn't have been my focus for my bujo... after a while i realized my mistake and started actually planning while learning art separately bc i couldn't jeopardize my planning bc the pages didn't look PRETTY ENOUGH you know? i've came a long way since and while i do keep my bujo more minimal as i become more confident with things i put more art into it, it's all abt balance after all and i'm glad that i didn't give up on having a bullet journal bc the possibilities with bujos are endless and i love that freedom and it's what made planning for me much more enjoyable and helps me actually achieve things :) @knopewyatt_ on twitter and @anapaulasza on insta
What colour do you use for your hair? In a different video you said you dyed it. I have it a orange-y copper rn (not in my profile picture) and I want it a bit more ‘natural’ like yours😊
My biggest struggle was to find the way it could help me with my life. 4 years later, I can't imagine living without it!
You can use a blotter sheet so you can move on quickly with wetter pens
I think my biggest struggle was the overwhelming need to feel like it was up to date, but I’ve come to realize that if you’re keeping up then it is what you need it to be

This notebook looks interesting. My favorite element is the ability to frame the pages.

Loved the review video! My struggle is getting out of my confort zone with brush lettering.

My biggest struggle was always trying ALL the layouts and ALL the trackers, lol!
Nice.......I took lots of time to make the spreads....
When you said my name I felt so starstruck!!! ♥ one of my biggest struggles is to stick to one theme or have a cohesive bujo, sometimes i want to be really artistic and sometimes i go very minimal! and i end up not liking my aesthetic :(
Please could u add more lighting very hard to see this amazing notebook
You say leuchtturm almost right, just a really cute acent and kinda shy ❤️
My biggest struggle is trying not to get lost in the details and actually using the journal keep track of all the things that matters to me!
Just be better and progress in my bullet journal. It’s a really big challenge 😊
I am so glad that there is now a bullet journal that contains Ingrids, I offen have problemen with it.
The biggest struggle will be faced now coz this is the first year I'll start bullet journalaling

Where can I find to order🇵🇹Really amazing❤️😍👍👌
Biggest struggle is to find inspiration and trying to do my own spread instead of coy someone's else on youtube or pinterest. So it goes with my creativity !
My biggest struggle is when I cram my notes at the end of the spread but then they spill over just a few lines of a new one.
My biggest problem when starting bullet journaling was actually getting started. I was paralyzed by the thought I would do it wrong.
My biggest struggle is reining in my ideas! I have lots of big ideas but to accomplish them on a deadline kept adding more stress and defeating the purpose of the journal. Also not having much in the way of art supplies. I’ve stolen my kids watercolors for the last few spreads 😅
Instagram @a_mather24
My biggest hurdle was the time i would spend. It would end up suck hours of my day working on spreads.
Ghosting is fine but this paper is phenomenal compared to the old LT1917 which would have bled through on most of what you used.
Wow, thanks girl 🌈🖌🖋📖📓📔🌈🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌠🌸
Hello Elizabeth,
I love watching your plan with me videos when you do yours and your husband.

With all of these requirements, I was quite struggling just to find the materials 🙄🙄🙄
