    Yeah, the scene in which Benicio's character is "interrogating" that guy is purposefully vague. The entire intent of that scene is to leave what is happening up to your imagination. He carried in that jug of water which would suggest that waterboarding was part of his plan but those sounds were not sounds of someone being waterboarded. The crotch in the face thing is just meant to be a demeaning act. I have witnessed an "interrogation" that started in a very similar way that didn't go the route you think this one did.

  • @Praxid
    @Praxid ปีที่แล้ว +32

    For the interrogation scene, I was very confused as well. But due research and looking around online led me to believe that it in fact was not sexual in nature, despite it seeming so. Personally, my opinion is that the torture method used was what's called Water Cure torture; which essentially is forcing the torturee to drink water to the point of the stomach nearly bursting, being beaten enough to vomit it all back up, and then the torture begins anew, hence the drain in the floor (For the vomit) and the two large water jugs. I believe Alejandro standing with his crotch so close to the prisoner's face was a sign of dominance, showing the dude that he was completely powerless in this situation.

    • @Project153
      @Project153 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@heliopyreShooting at planes wasn't even the worst part (they forced a police surveillance plane to land due to damage sustained). Just a few years back when the Mexican Police accidentally captured Ovidio Guzman during an unrelated raid, the cartel blocked off the entire city, ambushed the police with armored trucks with M2s mounted on them, and cut off communications to the city. The cartel had all the families of theise police officers as hostages and threatened to off them if they don't let Ovidio Guzman go. Needless the cartel got what they wanted.
      Capturing Ovidio Guzman this time around and being met with this type of retaliation was to be expected after the first time. Pretty sure that first accidental capture led to a Mexican Police Officer getting ambushed off duty and getting shot 100 times. Car looked like Swiss cheese after 5 dudes pumped him full of lead.
      Edit: Might as well add, during the initial capture of Ovidio Guzman and the retaliation, all I'm going to say is, not even an armored car is worth a damn against the cartel since one video I saw from the carter's perspective was an M72 Rocket Launcher in the passenger seat next to an M249 SAW and an AK on the dash as the cartel was speeding towards the city ready to ambush the hell out of the officers.

    Remember Danny Trejo's advice: "If you find yourself in prison: Be respectful, find a job to focus on and get better at, and _don't join a gang._ Don't antagonize them, show them respect when you pass them in the hall, but _don't join them."_
    Danny was a menace his whole life, but in his biography he looks back on his "I'm gonna die in prison at age 20" days, happy that he got into freelance heroin smuggling and boxing championships instead of allowing himself to become swallowed into a gang system. He got along with gang guys and showed them respect, but they knew he was the type of man where when he says, "I won't be in a gang, but thank you I appreciate the offer" he fucking means it and won't be bullied into anything.
    So when he got out of jail and decided to really try to help people, he had decades of people-management experience from being in charge of the prison gym and wrangling heroin sources, with _none_ of the gang obligations pidgeon-holing him into a toxic lifestyle moving forward.
    _TREJO: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood_ is a tremendous book is what I'm saying. Well worth the read and has a sexy cover that looks good on the shelf.

He and Josh Brolin play the same characters in a in a sequel. They continue the story, but Ms Blunt is not in it. I enjoyed it but perhaps not as good as the first one. I believe there's a third film, but I haven't seen it. del Toro and Brolin are in it, too. I've heard. You might want to check them out. When he asked her to sign the papers he said, “You’re committing suicide,” is a double entedre because they definitely had the resources to make it look that way, frame it up that way on the forensics, or in the figurative meaning that she’d be pulling the trigger and did have somewhat of a choice. Benicio would never leave her the parts needed to kill him, especially a loaded magazine and the slide and frame so easy to put back together if he didn’t her the “other choice”. She could choose to become a wolf and kill him; he knew she could hit him from how well she shot in “combat situations”. He made her do one thing, but left his life in her hands; but was trying to save the life that he thought his daughter could have grown up to be (taken from her/him).

You can SEE Benicio's character has nothing left to lose. When you take everything from a man or really any person they will do whatever it takes.
    Also, regarding the beans thing, pretty much every Mexican household (alongside other countries) eat beans with almost every meal since they are cheap and nutritious. I first noticed Benicio del Toro in "License To Kill" (a Bond film), back in 1989. Over the years, every time I watch him the same adjectives go through my mind...
    Intense...
    Brooding...
    Intense...
    Attractive...
    Intense...
    Interesting...
    Intense...
    Sexy...
    Intense...
    Scary AF...
    Oh, & did I say, intensely intense?
    Damn fine actor too.
    Which reminds me, you should eventually get into some of the James Bond movies, especially the ones with Sean Connery. They're fun, nostalgic & beloved.

    When it actually hits you why Benicio del toro does what he does any man would do

  • @DevInvest
    @DevInvest ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Benicio Del Toro is excellent alongside Johnny Depp in the film adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson’s epic account of his assignment to cover the Mint 400 off road race in Vegas in the early /mid 70’s.
    The book is legendary.
    (like “The Rum Diaries”)
    And Hunter S. Thompson was a rockstar of a writer- sort of Hemingway mixed with Keith Richards..
    He and Depp were close,
    Depp played him perfectly in the film, down to Hunter’s unique speaking style.
    It’s an odd film if you don’t understand the background and the Depp / Thompson connection- but it’s hilarious if you do

    So for the record, he did give a fuck about it. He recognized her voice, and he knew he’d slightly hesitate and even if she didn’t, he was faster. He knew that with what she was wearing, the “2 to the chest” wouldn’t kill her (or likely cause permanent damage, even though ribs are naggy”). He always hits where he expects to, and just center mass is easy for him, and where she was protected; that’s why he didn’t think about it. He knew he could get our of the fight temporarily (because of her heart, she’d keep fighting), and that he’d get who he needed. If he had to, it wouldn’t have just been CM.

    I was so pissed off when he said “it was nothing personal”. I don’t ever agree with killing kids. I’m just glad he killed the man responsible. That man had no remorse and was selfish. It was okay for him to kill his family so horribly, but when his family died he is appalled. So sad. This movie was very good. Your reaction was mine.

  • @murrayroodbaard207

    He may have killed the family because he felt they were already deep into that world and were ruined anyway. Kids would grow up to be in the cartel.
